In 1582, the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] member and [[samurai]] [[Yasuke]] visited his mentor's home and met with Nobutsuna to discuss what had transpired after [[Honnō-ji incident|Honnō-ji]]. Within their meeting, Nobutsuna tasked Yasuke to find his fellow students and learn the mastery of the samurai's weapons. After he bested all of the other students, Yasuke returned back to Nobutsuna at his home, only to find [[Marume Nagayoshi]] mourning over Nobutsuna's corpse. Nagayoshi told Yasuke of how rival sword master [[Sanada Masatoyo]] killed their mentor and wrote a challenge to Yasuke in his blood. Although Nagayoshi wanted vengeance in blood, Yasuke convinced him to let go while he went to confront Masatoyo.
