When Eivor arrived back to Bjorn, Njal died and was put on a funeral pyre near the tree, from which Alfhid was hung. Bjorn told Eivor how he and Alfhid found her and that he remained alone now. However, with Eivor's aid, Njal was sent to [[Valhalla (afterlife)|Valhalla]] and Bjorn offered his allegiance to the Raven Clan, with promises of singing about Alfhid and their child, Njal.<ref name="TheVengeanceoftheBerserker"/>
