In 1582, Nakatomi, known for her cruelity and practicality, was met with defiance and disobedience from one of her [[samurai]] [[Ibuki]].<ref name="Ambush Interrupted">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Ambush Interrupted]]</ref> Thus, she ordered [[Kyobei]], Ibuki's best friend, to execute them. However, Nakatomi was lied to by Kyobei, who spared Ibuki's life.<ref name="Homecoming">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Homecoming (Shadows)|Homecoming]]</ref>

At [[Hijiyama Fort]], Nakatomi learned about Ibuki fighting with the locals against her [[soldier]]s. With this, she caught Kyobei in his lie and ordered his execution. Before she could swing her ''[[naginata]]'', Ibuki and his newfound ally and [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] member [[Yasuke]] broke into the [[fort]] and stopped her before she could act. While standing her ground, Nakatomi soon fought against the combined forces of Ibuki, Yasuke, and Kyobei, and was ultimately killed. After her death, Kyobei took control of her soldiers while Ibuki agreed to join Yasuke's league.<ref name="Homecoming"/>
