By the 9th century, the Martyrs of Agaunum took the mantle of their name and were believed to use the graves of the Theban Legion for miraculous healing purposes.<ref name="Chapter 15">''[[Assassin's Creed: Mirage – Daughter of No One]]'' — Chapter Fifteen - Karachi, 824</ref> At some point, they became allied with the [[Order of the Ancients]], whose partnership proved fruitful when the customer gifted the Martyrs with impenetrable [[armor]] surrounding mostly their torsos. While the Martyrs continued on their path, they managed to hire their own mercenaries to hunt down Fuladh's group. However, the remaining mercenaries [[Roshan]], [[Azadeh]], with her [[wolf]] [[Onyx (wolf)|Onyx]], and [[Dias]] overcame the ambush and killed them. Another disadvantage was that they discerned Francis' alliance with the Martyrs, which led him to flee towards the Martyrs.<ref name="Chapter 17"/> The Martyrs soon arrived in Baghdad and set up a meeting with their customer at the [[House of Wisdom]].<ref name="Chapter 19"/>

===Demise===
The Martyrs presented the case to their customer and began to perform a ritual, with Francis in attendance, while the customer opened the case. However, upon opening the chest, the customer hissed at the Martyrs but then they all heard an unknown whistle. Instantly, Onyx attacked and killed Francis, while Dias and Roshan managed to kill two Martyrs with deadly head blows. However, Fuladh's group became overwhelmed by the remaining Martyrs with Roshan becoming defenseless after losing her tahtib sticks. However, Onyx stopped the Martyr from killing Roshan, but she suffered fatal blows. Enraged, Azadeh jumped and killed the Martyr while Roshan wounded another Martyr. Before he could escape, the wounded Martyr was struck down by Fuladh, who later went to kill the customer. With Dias killing his Martyrs, the cult was ultimately dismantled.<ref name="Chapter 19"/>

==Equipment and skills==
Along with their enforced armor gifted by the Order,<ref name="Chapter 19"/> the Martyrs wore dark maroon robes and masks to cover their faces. On their chests, they showcased a golden symbol on their robes, a six-pointed cross.<ref name="Chapter 9"/>
