Contracted with his brother, Gud was hired by Hidden One Fuladh into a [[Fuladh's mercenaries|group]] of [[Mercenary|mercenaries]] to track the [[Martyrs of Agaunum]] and recover the case they guarded. After they all prepared, they began to track the Martyrs' route. After a couple of days, they followed a plan laid out by the young [[thief]] [[Roshan]], who devised a plan to ambush them at a mountain passage along the [[Sinai]] border after [[Wei]], a [[China|Chinese]] bombmaker, dropped his [[bomb]]. Gud and Geir waited alongside Roshan, {{Wiki|Samoa}}n warrior [[Nafanua]], [[Wales|Welsh]] mercenary [[Mared]], [[Rome|Roman]] [[Piracy|pirate]] [[Dias]], and self-proclaimed [[Christianity|Christian]] prophet [[Francis]] while Wei, guarded by [[Iran|Persian]] mercenary [[Azadeh]] and her [[wolf]] [[Onyx]], waited atop the cliff. Francis was in charge of managing the signal, however he signaled too early and the bomb went off the opportune time.<ref name="Chapter 7"/>

====Losing teammates====
With the element of surprise gone, Gud, Geir, Dias, and Mared fought the Martyrs and their guards, while Roshan and Nafanua were still shocked from the blast. Despite their best efforts, the Martyrs were able to flee with their case while the mercenaries lost Mared, who was used as a body shield from loose [[arrow]]s by Dias. This caused an fracture within the group, where Nafanua accused of Dias of murder. While Nafanua was backed up by the women, Gud and Geir backed up Dias. However, after Azadeh eased tensions between all of them, they all heard Roshan's plan to go over the mountain and beat them by going by the [[Red Sea]] to [[Karachi]]. When they came to the mountain, Geir and Gud roped each other together, while Dias, Nafanua and Francis were in one group and Roshan, Wei, and Azadeh were in the other group. Although they climbed to the summit with no loss, the descent proved to be treacherous especially when Roshan lost her footing and almost made her group fall. Luckily, both Gud and Geir saved them. However, Gud stepped on loose rocks, which fell on top of Wei's head. A fist-sized rock knocked Wei out and he became loose from his group. Although Roshan went to save him, it was too late and Wei fell to his death. Although the group felt sad, they completed the descent without any issue. While Gud joined the group to the dock nearby, Roshan and Azadeh left to find Wei's remains. After crossing the Red Sea to Karachi, the group found an inn to recuperate. While Roshan went to find more maps, Gud and Geir followed and stalked her. Both brothers soon found her and chased her into a harem of a wealthy benefactor. Upon the women's screams, guards surrounded the twins. When a guard prodded Gud, the Northman responded by breaking his neck.
