			After some time, south of the [[Old City]] in the region of [[Gullnámar]], Frodri set up camp on the side of a volcano and cooked [[pig\|bacon]]. However, the scent attracted a nearby [[bear]] that attacked him for the food, and the sudden turn of events convinced Frodri that Hyrrokin had tricked him and given a "cursed ring". The [[Æsir]] [[Odin\|Havi]] was also passing through the realm and on hearing Frodri's cries for help, confronted and killed the bear. In gratitude, Frodri enlisted Havi's aid to protect him from the ring's "curse" as he walked to the volcano top to dispose of it.<ref name="HyrrokinsGift"/>

			Along the way, Frodri told Havi of how he acquired the ring and its malign purpose, though Havi noticed that Frodri was simply prone to making poor choices, particularly when the dwarf ate {{Wiki\|Stropharia caerulea\|blue roundhead}} [[mushroom]]s before identifying whether they were safe and promptly began vomiting. Reaching the edge of a caldera with Havi, Frodri threw the ring into the lava, but lost his balance in the process.
