One day, Erigone and her father welcomed [[Dionysos]] into their home. During his stay, the god showed his hosts how to cultivate grapes and turn them into wine. Some time later, Ikarios gave some wine to a few shepherds who, unused to feeling drunk, thought that he had poisoned them and killed him in response.
