	Built in the heart of what became the "~~{{Wiki\|Old Town,~~ Al-Ula\|Old Town}}" of [[Al-Ula\|AlUla]], the [[fort]] known to some as [[Musa ibn Nusayr Fort\|Musa ibn Nusayr]] is named after an [[Arabia\|Arab]] {{Wiki\|Musa ibn Nusayr\|general}} and governor who is reported to have died in "{{Wiki\|Wadi al-Qura}}" (the "Valley of Villages"), which the ~~[[Al-Ula Valley\|~~AlUla Valley]] was called in Islamic times. This small fort occupied the top of an outcrop about fifty meters high, offering an exceptional view of not only the town below but also of the valley for kilometers to the north and south. It is an exceptional position of observation and defense. The fort has endured significant changes over time, including restoration works in the 1990s.
