[[Lorenzo de' Medici]] was [[Piero di Cosimo de' Medici|born]] [[Lucrezia Tornabuoni|into]] the political life in 1449, and even as a child would be sent on various diplomatic missions. When Lorenzo was six years old, he [[Four to the Floor|fell]] into the [[Arno|Arno River]] and was saved by a young [[Giovanni Auditore da Firenze|Giovanni Auditore]], and event which stated a long friendship between the [[House of Auditore|two]] [[House of Medici|families]].

In 1469 at the age of twenty, Lorenzo became the head of the Medici family and quickly gained control of the [[Florence|Florentine]] government. While Lorenzo ruled over Florence, there were many who [[Pazzi conspiracy|conspired]] against him, and he turned to Giovanni Auditore for [[Assassin's Creed: Lineage|assistance]], and later Ezio Auditore as well.

Throughout Lorenzo's lifetime, he worked to maintain the fragile peace that existed between the various Italian states. As Ezio worked as his [[Assassination contract|personal assassin]] for a time, he in turn assisted Ezio in the [[Assassin-Templar War|takedown]] of the corrupt [[House of Borgia|Borgia]].
