			::Forgot to answer Francesco's question. I'm actually not sure if a doge would count or not. The governmental system of the Republic of Venice was quite unique in that the head of state was elected but doge originated as a noble title. Some sources online say that Venice had an elected monarchy, but I think most sources simply leave it ambiguous. I have read political science books that argue it was a "mixed government" or that was what its architects saw it as, one that was intended to be a hybrid of monarchy, oligarchy, and democracy.
