Páàjì titun

I guess I’m gunna have to be contrarian as I like #2. My preferred use might even be more unconventional as I think we should denote when one of the dates is specifically known. So for the Shao Jun example I’d have it be (b. 1505 - fl. 1567) and for someone who’s only death is known (fl. #### - d. ####), if neither are known then (fl. #### - ####). Alternatively we could try to find away using ''circa'', go back to using ''unknown'' while acting as if Fandom is an IU organization like Erudito or the Intiates, or we just petition academia to straighten its shit out and come up with standardized notation for all four options i.e. known birth and death, known birth unknown death, unknown birth known death, unknown birth and death. Of course if we're having trouble with it I doubt a bunch of squabbling professor would be anything more than absolutely less than helpful.
