When she refused, he ordered the guard to cut her fingers from her dominant hand. However, [[Fujibayashi Nagato|Fujibayashi Masayasu]] ambushed and killed the guard instantly, surprising both Tsuyu and the Templar.<ref name="Ch20"/> Confronted, Balthazar sent his men to kill Masayasu, but all of his men fell to the ''shinobi''{{'}}s blade. Attacking him, he managed to apparently wound him and nearly killed him. Before he could, he was struck with a [[shuriken]] to the throat by Masayasu, falling to his knees. Bleeding out, he was quickly killed by Masayasu.
