When the light settled, the Sphinx was intensely glowing gold all over except for her face, which was in agony. The Sphinx reached for Kassandra but the glow died along with her. Kassandra stood in astonishment for a little while before squatting down behind its head and plucking a large feather. The feather glowed brightly as it shook violently in her hands. With her eyes closed from the struggle, she was unaware of an image of the Sphinx reaching its hand towards her.

Kassandra exhaled and pocketed the artifact before leaving the altar, and the desiccated human corpse of the artifact's previous holder behind.
