Though the death of a well-respected silversmith was thought to be the harbinger of consequences for 'Abis, his downfall came when Basim managed to escape his cell and make his way to the laboratory, where he fatally wounded 'Abis, though not without getting stabbed with a poisonous dagger in turn.<ref name= "The Heart of Corruption"/>
