hey i've been researching the expectations of a direct connection to the AC franchise and the new watch dogs game, i found one discussion that was apparently almost a year ago and has been archived so i wanted to make a new discussion on that.

from the previous discussion held (see here) i want to carry on and give my own oppinion and a renewed view on the matter since AC4 and WD are released or soon to be released.

i start of with the people who think the game mirrors edge is closest to a futuristic version of AC, if you think that you are seriously delusional, i admit both are free running games, but ac gives a more free choice of free running plus all that ME is focused on is running, and yes it is a fight between opressors and rebels, however thats hardly unique to these games so i say that total bull.

now on the main matter, i believe WD to have serious potential to merge with the AC franchise, i dont know the whole story behind WD becouse i havent played the game, however i do think it has serious potential, i like to add that those who think the game doesnt take place in the years 2012 or 2013 becouse we dont have such technology? well last time i knew we didnt have an animus either and that thing has been existing in the AC world for some time now, besides we dont know even half of what our governments and conglomerates have at their disposal thats what makes it a conspiracy theory.

for those who would think the AC franchise should'nt merge with WD becouse it would ruin the "historical experience" one way or another the game will either go in full present/futuristic, or branch out in two different franchizes, the reason for this is simple, there are those who pay more attention to the historical part of the game, and there are those who take the main story to heart. wich means there will either be a focus on the main story or a side branch wich practicly already exist referring to games like AC3 liberation, wich have the historical experience but no connection to the main story of AC.

to point out why they will have to go more present is becouse of how AC3 ended as in (sorry for spoilers) Desmond dies at the end and the catastrophy is averted by his sacrifice to release the first civ Juno who in turn will try to conquer humanity. as in Desmonds last words he said we as in the asassins will find a way to stop her. wich means the asassins are far from done, their fights against the templars is an eternal one since there will always be people trying to controle human kind, but Juno is another matter.

in fact WD might a prologue for a new branche in the AC franchise as the system used by the main character in WD to let him hack everything and identify anyone and so on would be an awesome asset in the hands of the asassin brotherhood, wich gives them space to move around freely and do what they do best, Kill all the corrupt and twart their plans, to make it point out that the historical part of the game is getting less important for the main story is that their not trying to find something hidden in the past, but are trying to stop Juno in the present wich requires the game to play a lot more in the present than in the past.

ofcourse that doesnt mean the animus is completely out of the equation, in AC3 there was a dialogue with Shaun where he said he wanted to use the animus to bring desmond in the past in the time the first civ where still around. this was an idea just for research, but now they are facing a first civ it could mean they are going to do the same in order to find out a way to stop Juno, wich also might result in trying to obtain some first civ weapon that will stop Juno at some other time line, however this is all just speculation, main thing is, the story is starting to require more present time events wich where a little more to be desired in previous games, but WD does give an opening for that.

well thats what i wanted to say, i will add however i wrote this post during the time AC4 blackflag was out however havent obtained the game as of yet so i couldnt add any information that might contradict my post, same goes for the game Watchdogs wich isnt available as of yet.
