Floruit[edit source]

Since this has been the subject of several reverts now, allow me to explain here that yes, Caesarion does not appear to have died in 30 BCE in Assassin's Creed lore. However, the year range given for him (fl. 47 BCE–30 BCE) is correct because fl., an abbreviation for floruit (lit. "flourished"), denotes not the years when an individual lived, but the years when that individual's life is documented or in other words, known to have existed. This is used academically for individuals who can be assumed to have died, but whose death year is unknown because unknown is both unprofessional, and for the purposes of this wiki, out-of-universe, while to simply write "born" (while not unprecedented for deceased individuals) would technically imply that the individual is still alive.

Caesarion flourished from 47 BCE to 30 BCE in that these are the years we know he was active so far. Even if we are certain he did not die in 30 BCE, if his last appearance in the series is in 30 BCE, that is the year that should be given, as per the Manual of Style. So as not to edit war, I will let this message sit for a few days in case there are any questions, concerns, or objections. If there are none, I will go ahead and fix the format again after a few days. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 05:29, June 29, 2018 (UTC)
