In 823, with the interest in that loan being enough to trap Maryam with no way to clear it, Xex decided to start running the caravan along with other loan sharks. Around the same time, [[Mongolia|Mongol]] merchant [[Bogd]] was also in high debt with Xex, which he planned to have the man pay by taking his three wives, who would then be cycled into the brothel.
