The '''Visayans''' are an ethnolinguistic group native to southernmost islands of the [[Philippines]]. The language of the Visayans were of their native {{Wiki|Bisayan languages|tongue}}. However, in modern times, they also speak in {{Wiki|Tagalog}} and English as secondary languages.<ref>{{WP|Visayans}}</ref> 

==History==
===Battle of Mactan===
In 1521, [[Portugal|Portuguese]] explorer [[Ferdinand Magellan]] and his men travelled to {{Wiki|Macatan|Mactan Island}} after securing the [[Crescent amulet|Crescent Piece of Eden]] from [[Cebu]]. There, they encountered with the native Visayans living there in order to secure another [[Piece of Eden]] from the chieftain [[Lapu-Lapu]]. On 27 April, Magellan's men [[Battle of Mactan|fought against]] Lapu-Lapu and his people. With Lapu-Lapu gaining the upper hand by acquiring the crescent amulet, the chieftain swiftly and single-handledly killed all of Magellan's [[soldier]]s before personally executing Magellan himself. In 1725, in [[Manila]], a group of Visayan resistance warriors were led by [[Rajah]],<ref name="ACFT53">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 53|Episode 53]]</ref> a former Visayan slave for the Spanish<ref name="ACFT71">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 71|Episode 71]]</ref> who vowed vengeance against those invaded his land and wanted to secure the Pieces of Eden, of which he believed truly belonged to his people.<ref name="ACFT56">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 56|Episode 56]]</ref> Soon, during a [[1725 Manila riot|riot]] in Manila, Rajah led his men and killed Spanish soldiers docked at a ship. Before long, he found the location of a [[Mad monk|monk]], who acquired the crescent amulet.<ref name="ACFT53"/>

Fortunately, they found the monk fighting against [[British Brotherhood of Assassins|British Assassin]] [[Edward Kenway]] and Rajah took his opportunity to kill the monk and take back the amulet. Besting the injured Assassin, Rajah nearly killed him but Kenway escaped with the help from his ally [[Shimazu Saito]].<ref name="ACFT57">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 57|Episode 57]]</ref> He and his fellow Visayans soon took their crusade towards Cebu but made a stop at [[Monkey Island]], where they took over a local fort. Rajah's following plan of taking over Kenway's flagship ''[[Fenghuang]]'' backfired when his men were taken down by the crew<ref name="ACFT63"/> as his conquest of the fort was short-lived once the union freed Rajah's prisoners. Fortunately, they acquired ships from a group of [[Japan]]ese soldiers, who tried to take the amulet but were unsuccessful.<ref name="ACFT64">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 64|Episode 64]]</ref> Arriving in Cebu, they infiltrated the [[Basilica del Santo Niño]], where they killed all the priests and acquired a [[Hendrik's sea log|sea log]], which depicted the locations of two other Pieces of Eden. ====The rebellion's downfall====
While Rajah sent his men to infiltrate [[Fort San Pedro]], he and his men came across Kenway and the Spanish army again. There, Kenway's allies [[John Young]] and [[Mustafa|Rupiya]] sank Rajah's ships.<ref name="ACFT67">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 67|Episode 67]]</ref> Left to fend off the Spanish soldiers, the Visayans soon saw their comrades sent a signal of their takeover of the fort and escaped from the harbor.<ref name="ACFT68">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 68|Episode 68]]</ref>

With the fort's civilians aiding the Visayans inside, Rajah grew maddened from his losses and from his exposure to the amulet. He ordered his men to kill the civilians as he viewed them as traitors but his men refused. Thus, Rajah killed them and all of his men around him. He was soon found by Kenway and Saito,<ref name="ACFT69">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 69|Episode 69]]</ref> where the former fought against him while Saito sought the log.<ref name="ACFT70">''[[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple]]''– [[Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Episode 70|Episode 70]]</ref>

Despite his use of the amulet,<ref name="ACFT70"/> Rajah failed and was defeated by Kenway. When Kenway took the amulet, he saw a glimpse into Rajah's childhood and understood his cause but did not excuse his actions. While stating his actions were to free his people, Rajah was soon taken ahold by the neck with a [[rope dart]] from [[Chinese Brotherhood of Assassins|Chinese Assassin]] [[Mentor]] [[Xiao Han]]. Remorseful for not achieving his goals, Rajah was soon killed by the Chinese Mentor.<ref name="ACFT71"/>
