The tignon law is first mentioned in the ''[[Assassin's Creed Roleplaying Game]]'' although it erroneously states it has feature in the franchise before (likely meaning ''[[Assassin's Creed III: Liberation]]''). The RPG states that the edict lead to riots but gives the wrong year. Historically, it is not believed the law was ever actually enforced with no recorded pushbacks with many black women who chose to follow embracing the look, making it a "mark of distinction".<ref name="Wiki"/>
