'''Taku''' was a young [[Japan]]ese boy and a partner to fellow orphan [[Taku]] in [[Yamashiro]] during the late [[Sengoku period]]. Every night, Taku and Rei terrified any travelers and potential [[thief|thieves]] away from a group of [[bandit]]s in order to receive food. Their actions led people to think that there was the actual ''[[yōkai]]'' known as the ''{{Wiki|Kappa (folklore)|Kappa}}'' (河童, lit. 'river child').<ref name="The Yokai">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' — [[The Yokai]]</ref>

==Biography==
By 1582, along with Rei, Taku lived without any home or family. They soon found themselves working for [[bandit]]s in northern Yamashiro. Posing themselves as ''kappa'', they scared any travelers or rival thieves away from their employers' stash at [[Haunted Tatarigami Village]]. Their actions led to rumors spreading about ''kappa'' living in the [[Genbu Highlands]], which led people to inform the [[Scholar|monk]]-turned-demon hunter [[Mamushi]] for help.<ref name="The Yokai"/> 

Fed up with the rumors, Mamushi met the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] members [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] and [[Yasuke]] and tasked them to investigate all these ''yōkai'' claims. During their investigation in Yamamshiro, they traveled at night towards the village and found the "''kappa''" trying to scare the duo. Chasing the ''kappa'' up the hill, they came across the village and fought against a number of bandits. After Naoe and Yasuke defeated the bandits, Rei and Taku came out and pleaded forgiveness. After they explained their situation, the two children were able to leave while the duo squashed this ''yokai'' claim.<ref name="The Yokai"/>
