The '''Suez Canal''' is an artifical level waterway in [[Egypt]] which connects the [[Mediterranean Sea]] to the [[Red Sea]]. Since its inception, the canal has been a popular trade route between [[Europe]] and [[Asia]] and was the site of the infamous {{Wiki|Suez Crisis}} fought during the [[Cold War]] between Egypt and [[Israel]], [[United Kingdom]] and [[France]].

==Biogaphy==
The construction of the canal began in 1859 was presided over by {{Wiki|Khedive}} [[Ismail Pasha]], the viceroy of Egypt. He had been pressured by the [[France|French]] to finish work on the canal, and was forced to make use of forced labour despite his on stand agsinst it. Following its completion in 1869, a celebration was held at the [[Khedivial Opera House]] by [[Ismail Pasha]] to commemorate its opening, with Queen [[Eugénie de Montijo]] of [[France]] as the guest of honor.<ref name="Chapter 1">''[[Assassin's Creed: The Engine of History – The Resurrection Plot]]'' – Chapter 1</ref>
