'''Richard Prescott''' (1725 – 1788) was a [[United Kingdom|British]] officer who fought during the [[American Revolutionary War]], holding the rank of Lieutenant General.

During the war, Prescott was once captured<ref name="Database">''[[Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR]]'' – [[Database: General Richard Prescott, the target]]</ref> by the [[Continental Army]] in 1775, but was then released in exchange of General [[John Sullivan]].<ref name"Wiki">{{WP|Richard Prescott}}</ref> By 1777, Prescott was placed in command of 4,000 thousand troops in the city of [[Newport]] in [[Rhode Island]]. Within the state, he based himself in a {{Wiki|Prescott Farm|farm}} orignally owned by a [[Loyalists|Loyalist]] named Henry Overing, where he was only protected by a few people.<ref name="Database" />

In July, Prescott became a target of the [[United States|American]] general [[William Barton]], who sought to exchange him for general [[Charles Lee]], the second-in-command of the Continental Army under [[George Washington]].<ref name="Barton Database">''[[Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR]]'' – [[Database: William Barton, a daring man]]</ref> With help of the [[American Brotherhood of Assassins|Colonial Assassin]] [[Ratonhnhaké:ton]], the Americans were able to uncover Prescott's location and stage an infiltration operation.
