'''Nagasaki''' is a city and the capital of {{Wiki|Nagasaki Prefecture}} on the [[Japan|Japanese]] island of {{Wiki|Kyushu}}. During the reign of [[Mutsuhito|Emperor Meiji]], the city was one of the only few ports on the island where [[Europe|European]] [[ships]] could dock for trade after Japan had secluded itself for over two centuries.

In 1867, two [[United Kingdom|British]] sailors were murdered in the city, resulting in increased diplomatic tensions between the United Kingdom and the [[Tokugawa shogunate]].
