==History==
Starting in the 8th century, its [[Atago Shrine|shrine]] has been a center for {{Wiki|Shugendō}}, a regional mix of {{Wiki|Yamabushi|Mountain}} and [[Buddhism|Buddhist]] beliefs, with the inner area paying respect to the {{Wiki|tengu}} Tarobo. Later in the year, the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] member and [[samurai]] [[Yasuke]] climbed the mountain to its shrine to reconnect [[Akechi Mitsuyoshi]] with his sister [[Hosokawa Tama]], a [[Japanese Rite of the Templar Order|Japanese Templar]]. She agreed to betray [[Portuguese Rite of the Templar Order|Portuguese]] [[Master Templar]] [[Nuno Caro]] for the safety of Mitsuyoshi.
