'''Kadlin''' was a 9th century [[Anglo-Saxons|Anglo-Saxon]] handmaiden to Queen [[Æthelswith]] of [[Mercia]] from [[Leicestershire|Ledecestrescire]], [[England]].

==History==
In 873, the handmaiden was tasked by Queen Æthelswith to be her decoy while they were hiding in [[Templebrough Fort]]. After some time, they were soon found by [[Vikings]] step-siblings [[Eivor Varinsdottir]] and [[Sigurd Styrbjornsson]], who were looking to capture the Queen. Kadlin pretended to be the queen while Æthelswith made her way out, pretending to be a handmaiden. However, Kadlin was interrogated by Sigurd about [[Burgred of Mercia|Burgred]]'s whereabouts. Scared, Kadlin spoke honestly of not knowing of Burgred's location yet Eivor noticed that her hands were of a servant, not a queen. Afterwards, Kadlin found herself captured alongside her fellow handmaidens and Queen Æthelswith by the [[Great Heathen Army]] when they were taken to [[Repton]].
