Editing Hanlin Academy

The '''Hanlin Academy''' was an academic and administrative institution of higher learning founded during the [[Tang dynasty]] by Emperor [[Li Longji|Xuanzong]]. Located in [[Chang'an]], the academy lasted until the early 20th century, surviving a fire in 1900 and later closed in 1911.

In 742, [[Li Bai]], one of the Tang period's most acclaimed poets, was honoured by Emperor Xuanzong with a position at the academy.
