==Biography==
During the [[French Revolution]], Monge entered into a military science competition, which gave its challenge by trying to find an efficient manner to increase the stability of explosive powders. After some time, he later deduced a stable formula within one of his books. However, a competitor, Colonel Frolois, knew of Monge's quick expertise. Thus, he intended to sabotage his findings with a explosion at Monge's lab using the solar cannon in the [[Palais-Royal]]. However, the attempt went awry after it killed local bystander [[Alexandre Loissac]] instead.
