The '''Forty Thieves''' was a group of [[thief|thieves]] that operated in [[Baghdad]] during the 9th century. Comprising of forty members and led by their leader [[Kasim (thief)|Kasim]], the group was based in a hideout where they hid their riches in a cave behind a giant door that could only be opened by a code phrase.

Some time in 860s, the Forty Thieves began working with the renowned [[merchant]] [[Ali Baba]]. When he came close to uncovering their secrets behind the door, they had him silenced to prevent him for revealing the secrets.
