'''Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Kathīr al-Farghānī''' (c. 800 – 870) was an [[Abbasid Caliphate|Abbasid]] astronomer who lived in [[Baghdad]] as one of the most famous astronomers in the 9th century.

A contemporary of scholar [[Fazil Fahim al-Kemsa]] in the [[House of Wisdom]], Al-Farghani rejected his preachings and did not attend his lecture during the Great Symposium.
