'''Akira''' was a young [[Japan|Japanese]] boy of nobility background who lived in [[Azuchi Castle]] during the late 16th century.

In spring of 1581, Akira visited the {{Wiki|Shinkage-ryu}} Training Grounds at dawn and witnessed one [[Kamiizumi Nobutsuna]]'s students [[Diogo]] training in ''{{Wiki|kata}}''. Akira was amazed and inspired by his skill, such that he picked up a ''{{Wiki|shinai}}'' and followed after Diogo's movements. Akira's act was noticed by Diogo, who reject the praises, claiming that his skill was nowhere as good as Nobutsuna sensei's. Akira then told Diogo of his wish to be like his grandfather, Yasuke, who he described as extremely brave and kind to everyone around him, and that he missed him. Akira also expressed his wish to be like Diogo, after praised the boy that he did well to remember his grandfather's deeds.<ref name="Nobutsuna Sensei">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Nobutsuna Sensei]]</ref>

Later that night, Akira was amongst the nobility present during ceremony by [[Sanada Masatoyo]] where he pledged his loyalty to Lord [[Oda Nobunaga]]. At that moment, the ceremony was interrupted by Diogo, who wished to duel with Masatoyo's students to win back his mentor's [[sword]] that had been lost to Masatoyo during a duel. Nobunaga permitted the duel, which saw Diogo fighting against the students with actual swords and winning the fight, taking name of Yasuke for himself. This further cemmented Diogo's prowess in the eyes of Akira,<ref name="Nobutsuna Sensei" /> who went on to develop a number of games involving the new samurai and playing it with other children.<ref name="Lords of Azuchi">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Lords of Azuchi]]</ref>
