The only child of poet Lord {{Wiki|Lord Byron|George Byron}} and mathematician Lady {{Wiki|Lady Byron|Anne Byron}}, Ada was known for her work on [[Charles Babbage]]'s proposed {{Wiki|Difference engine|mechanical calculator}}, and she is often regarded as the first computer programmer.<ref name="Wiki"/>

Ada was a childhood friend of Simeon Pierce, who would later join the [[British Brotherhood of Assassins|British Assassins]]. As an adult, Ada's scientific work drew the attention of a figure known only as "the Magus", and they contacted her to make the weapon called the Engine of History. While attending the [[Great Exhibition]] of 1851, Ada was rescued from a [[gang]] of thugs by the acrobat Pierette.
