At the outbreak of the [[An Lushan Rebellion]], [[Yan Gaoqing]] sent his son [[Yan Jiming]] to raise a call-to-arms across all twenty-four commanderies and gain the support of the [[grand protector]]s that oversaw them. Jiming met with Boling Commandery's [[Zhang Wanqing]], though unbeknownst to him, Zhang had already allied himself with An Lushan and sent guards to kill the young man while he attempted to continue his mission in [[Qinghe]]. <ref name="Dynasty 13"/>
