==Biography==
By 1696, Lord Benedict Crystal had a bad run of investments, losing his entire family fortune. In order to correct this, he turned to counterfeiting, having coin-making machines installed in a hidden room in his estate. In 1696, Crystal held a dinner party with many distinguished guests in attendance, including Sir [[Artemis Murray]] and [[Isaac Newton]].<ref name="ACG2">''[[Assassin's Creed: Gold]]'' – Chapter 2</ref> During the party, however, the theft of a necklace allowed Newton to discover the hidden room, leading to Crystal's arrest and incarceration in the [[Tower of London]].<ref name="ACG6">''Assassin's Creed: Gold'' – Chapter 6</ref>

While imprisioned, Crystal was visited by his former butler [[Finnegan]], who informed him that Newton would come to eliminate him, completing the murders of the counterfeiters, not knowing that Finnegan had been paid to set Newton up.<ref name="ACG6"/>
