The '''1763 Colonial Assassin purge''' was a full-scale assault on the [[Colonial Assassins|Assassin Brotherhood]] in the [[United States|Thirteen Colonies]] by the [[Colonial Rite of the Templar Order|Colonial Rite]] of the [[Templars|Templar Order]], led by [[Grand Master]] [[Haytham Kenway]].

==History==
Following Haytham's arrival in the New World in 1754, the newly formed Colonial Rite quickly came into conflict with the already established [[Assassins|Assassin]] Brotherhood in the region. While initially a proxy war between the Templars and [[mercenaries]] recruited by the Assassins, the conflict soon intensified.

After nine years, the Templars launched their assault and attacked the [[Davenport Homestead]]; they killed all Assassins present, with the exception of their aging [[Mentor]], [[Achilles Davenport]].

Convinced that the lone Assassin no longer posed a threat, the Templars spared Achilles' life, on the condition that he give up his life as an Assassin. Achilles agreed, and spent the next six years in complete isolation in his manor until the arrival of [[Ratonhnhaké:ton]].
The '''''Morrigan''''' was a heavily modified {{Wiki|sloop-of-war}}, captained by the [[Assassins|Assassin]]-turned-[[Templars|Templar]] [[Shay Cormac]], during the [[Seven Years' War]].

*[[Christopher Gist]] - Quartermaster
==Armaments==
With the ship's armaments and equipment funded by the wealth of the Templar Order, the ''Morrigan'' was one of the most advanced warships of her time; she was equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry such as {{Wiki|puckle gun}}s, {{Wiki|carronade}}s, and burning oil. She also possessed the standard armaments including broadside cannons, mortars, and an ice-breaker ram. Due to the ''Morrigan''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s sleek design, she was much faster and more maneuverable than several other ships while still maintaining above average firepower for a ship of her size.

==Trivia==
*The ''Morrigan'' featured [[wolves]] on her sails and figurehead.
*The ship shared her name with a figure from Irish mythology called "The Morrígan". She was the goddess of strife, battle and sovereignty. She was mainly depicted as a crow in her animal form, giving the ''Morrigan'' an avian namesake along with the ''[[Aquila]]'' and the ''[[Jackdaw]]''.
'''Shay Patrick Cormac''' (c. 1731 – unknown) was a member of the [[Templars|Templar Order]], operating around the [[Atlantic Ocean]] during the [[Seven Years' War]].

Formerly a member of the [[Assassins|Assassin Brotherhood]], Shay devoted his Templar career to hunting down his former associates. Aboard his [[Ships|ship]], the ''[[Morrigan]]'', Shay's travels brought him to [[New York City|New York]] and the {{Wiki|Appalachian Mountains}}, among other locations.<ref>[http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/08/05/september-cover-reveal-assassins-creed-rogue-unity.aspx GameInformer: ''September Cover Revealed – Assassin's Creed Rogue And Unity'']</ref>

==Biography==
Born to Irish immigrants, Shay was taken in by the Assassins after the passing of his father.<ref name="Rogue narrative"/> After a mission went tragically wrong, Shay decided to abandon the Assassins, who in turn tried to kill him, presumably in an effort to prevent their Order from becoming compromised. Feeling betrayed by his comrades, and nursed back to health by the Templars, Shay joined them and decided to hunt down his former brethren.<ref>[http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/en-GB/games/assassins-creed-rogue.aspx Ubisoft: ''Assassin's Creed: Rogue'']</ref>

==Personality and characteristics==
Shay was originally a brash young man. He did not take his role as an Assassin seriously, instead being frivolous; not because he did not believe in the cause, but because he was young and unwise. However, after a traumatic event, Shay became a somber, dedicated character. He rethought his whole philosophy and his allegiance to the Assassins, realizing that the Templars' goals and methods were more in line with his own beliefs; this fervor caused him to pursue his former brothers-in-arms for something he believed was the better path.<ref name="GI Shay"/>

===Equipment and skills===
Shay appeared to be a skilled captain, adept at navigating the ''Morrigan'' through the icy waters of the North Atlantic, and like other Assassins before him, he was a capable [[Freerunning|freerunner]]. Shay was also shown to be a skilled swordsman, [[dual-wielding]] weapons with great efficiency.

Among his arsenal of weapons, Shay counted his [[Hidden Blade]], a long sword paired with a [[Short blades|dagger]],two flintlock pistols, rope darts, a grenade launcher and an [[Firearms|air rifle]] – the latter pair being prototypes funded by the Templar Order. The air rifle was capable of firing different types of darts such as firecracker, sleep, and berserk to distract or kill enemies. To protect himself from berserk and poison gas, Shay usually had a [[:http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Gas_mask|gas mask]] equipped to negate their effects.<ref name="GI Shay"/>

==Trivia==
*Shay's name is the anglicized form of the Gaelic ''Séaghdha'', which means "hawk". His middle name comes from the Latin ''Patricius'', meaning "nobleman". His family name is a conjoined term; ''mac'' is Gaelic for "son of", while ''cor'' has been interpreted as either "charioteer" or "raven".
*Shay's attire – the style worn by Templars of the time – bore similarities to the [[Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag outfits#Templar armor|Templar armor]] obtained by [[Edward Kenway]] during the latter's time in the [[Caribbean|West Indies]].<ref>[https://twitter.com/assassinscreed/status/505889581082767360 Twitter: Assassin's Creed]</ref>
*Shay was the fifth known Templar to perform the Leap of Faith, the others being [[Francesco de' Pazzi]], [[Vali cel Tradat]], [[Haytham Kenway]] and [[Daniel Cross]].
*Shay is the second playable Templar in the ''Assassin's Creed'' series' single player, with the first being Haytham Kenway. He is also the second Templar known to have used [[Eagle Vision]], the first also being Haytham.
Due to the Templar Order's great wealth, The Morrigan was one of the most advanced warships during its time. The '''''Morrigan''''' was a heavily modified [[Ships|sloop]] captained by former [[Assassins|Assassin]]-turned-[[Templars|Templar]] [[Shay Cormac]] during the [[French and Indian War|Seven Years' War]]. It was one of the most advanced warships during its time. The Morrigan features advanced weaponry such as puckle guns, cannonade, and burning oil.
==Trivia==
*The ''Morrigan'' featured [[wolves]] on its sails and figurehead.
*The ship shared its name with a figure from Irish mythology called "The Morrígan". She was the goddess of strife, battle and sovereignty. She was also depicted as a crow, giving the ''Morrigan'' an avian namesake along with the ''[[Aquila]]'' and ''[[Jackdaw]]''.
Shay was originally a brash young man. He did not take his role as an Assassin seriously, instead being frivolous; not because he did not believe in the cause, but because he was young and unwise. However, after a traumatic event, he became a somber, dedicated character. He rethought his whole philosophy and his allegiance to the Assassins, realizing that the Templars' goals and methods were more in line with his own beliefs. This caused him to pursue his former brothers-in-arms for something he believed was the better path for the future. Due in part to this shift in philosophy, Shay pursues his former comrades with a ruthless and driven mindset. <ref name="GI Shay" />

Among his arsenal of weapons, Shay counted his [[Hidden Blade]], a long sword paired with a [[Short blades|dagger]], a grenade launcher and an [[Firearms|air rifle]] – the latter pair being prototypes funded by the Templar Order.<ref name="GI Shay" />
