The '''Armor of Altaïr''' was an unbreakable set of [[armor]] that was constructed by [[Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad]] using knowledge obtained from the [[Sixth Apple|Apple of]] Eden.

Subsequent to his death, the armor was sealed in the [[Sanctuary]] beneath the [[Villa Auditore]], where it was later recovered and used by another member of the [[Assassins|Assassin Order]], [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]].

==Appearance==
The metal portions of the armor appeared to have a gold tint, while the leather portions were black or dark brown. Unlike most which are made up of a single piece, the chest plate of the Armor of Altaïr appeared to be made up of several overlapping metal guards.

A black cloak accompanied Altaïr's armor, and seemed to be of a similar cut to Altaïr's Assassin robes. In addition to being black, it was much longer than the one Ezio would normally wear, and was made up of three layers. Each layer was longer than the one above it, and the longest, lower layer was segmented, giving the whole piece a look resembling an eagle's wings.

He later constructed an unbreakable set of armor, using knowledge from the Piece of Eden, and chronicled its creation in his [[Codex|personal journal]]. There, he admitted to using the Apple to discover the properties of a new metal, which he had used to forge the armor.<ref name="AC2" />

At some point following his death, Altaïr's armor was stored inside the Villa Auditore's sanctuary. It was locked behind a metal gate that could only be opened when all six [[Assassin's Seals]] from hidden [[Assassin's Tombs]] were collected and placed on their respective statues.<ref name="AC2" />

Some time after 1486, Ezio Auditore managed to recover the six Assassin seals, and claim the armor as his own. Following this, Ezio returned to [[Monteriggioni]] and gave the armor a place of pride in [[Ezio's Room|his bed chamber]]. However, with the sudden and unexpected [[Fall of Monteriggioni|Siege of Monteriggioni]], the armor was struck by a cannonball and was lost under the rubble.<ref name="Brotherhood" />

However, when [[Desmond Miles]] first entered the Sanctuary, he encountered - through the [[bleeding effect]] - the ghost of an older Ezio wearing the armor. The '''Armor of Brutus''' was a virtually unbreakable set of armor, once in the possession of the [[Assassins|Assassin]] [[Marcus Junius Brutus]]. It was the strongest armor of the [[Rennaissance]] era and was found alongside the [[Dagger of Brutus]].

The armor was stolen and treasured by the [[Followers of Romulus]], who sealed it within a gate locked by six [[Scrolls of Romulus|keys]]. After he had obtained these keys, the armor came into the possession of another Assassin, [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze|Ezio Auditore]].

==Appearance==
The armor looks much heavier and bulkier than Ezio's [[Master Assassin]] [[Ezio's Robes|robes]], due to the fur cloak that is padded along the pauldron and around the neck of the hood. It is unknown when the fur was added, but it may have been a tribute to Romulus by his Followers. It should be noted that when in water the fur disappears, leaving a dark patch.

There is a silver eagle on the right shoulder that holds the cape on, as well as on the waist area where the [[Assassin insignia]] is on Ezio's other outfits. A second insignia is engraved onto the back of the armor as well.

The armor comes with a gray, short-sleeved robe that is worn underneath the breastplate. The bottom of the robes are in three layers, each one on top of the other, and come down to Ezio's knees. However, these layers act in a similar fashion to a kilt, completely covering the legs, whereas the Master Assassin robes part at the sides and front-to-back to keep movement unencumbered. This does not seem to affect mobility, however.

The armor set consists of both metal and leather. The chest armor and spaulders are mostly metal, but the left spaulder appears to be made out of a light type of stone, while the vambraces and greaves are completely leather. The vambraces and greaves are also very plain-looking pieces of armor, having very little design compared to the rest of the armor. Unlike other purchasable vambraces, the Vambraces of Brutus come in a set of two, for both Ezio's left and right arm.

The hood and cape appear to be connected, with both dyed red with a golden trim. There is no detail on the hood itself, and is more rounded in shape, similarly to [[Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad|Altaïr]]'s hood.

The armor of Brutus was named after its initial possessor, Marcus Junius Brutus, the Assassin responsible for killing [[Gaius Julius Caesar|Julius Caesar]]. It was an heirloom of his family, but it is unclear exactly when the armor was forged and by whom.

Since it has similar properties to the [[Armor of Altaïr]], this implies the creator used information gained from an [[Apples of Eden|Apple of Eden]] in order to create it. In his scrolls, Brutus revealed that he himself held a [[Piece of Eden]], although it is unclear whether Brutus used that information to modify an existing set of armor.

Before his death, Brutus hid his armor away in a secret location, which was apparently found and then protected by the Followers of Romulus. The Followers believed the armor to have been worn by their deified patron Romulus, and kept the keys to the armor's cage within each of their six [[Lairs of Romulus|secret lairs]] spread throughout the city of [[Rome]].

Upon encountering the Followers, and reading the scrolls of Brutus, Ezio sought out the other keys, and eventually obtained the armor of Brutus.

*The armor heavily resembles an outfit worn by the fictional character Maximus Decimus Meridius in the film ''[[Wikipedia:Gladiator (2000 film)|Gladiator]]''. Notice that Maximus' armor has a shape resembling the Assassin's insignia at the bottom of the breastplate.
*Like the armor of Altaïr, the Armor of Brutus has 25 health diamonds, and cannot be dyed or broken.
*The armor does not display the [[Hidden Gun|hidden gun]] nor [[poison blade]] on the attire's wrists, however this does not affect Ezio's ability to use these weapons. Also, while wearing the armor, the [[Metal Cestus|Climb Leap Glove]] does not appear, though its function remains.
