Where is this information coming from that he was somehow Greek? He was born to Macedonian parents and was a Prince of Macedon. 22:58, December 6, 2010 (UTC) 70.160.99.253
It helps keep track of who is talking. :) Second, Macedon IS in Greece, and was a part of the Greek empire for some period of time. Also, Olympias was from Epirus, another kingdom/region of Greece (near the Albany boarder), not Macedon. -- A Black Rabbit 23:11, December 6, 2010 (UTC)
: ---What "Greek Empire" are you talking about? The Macedonian one under Alexander?

Actually, there was no such thing as Greek empire then. Just like in italia, they had states in a seperate region. The most know were Macedonia, Athens Sparta Troy( Tria in Greek, the city of the son) and Axaioi, the Greek, i don't know how you call most of these cities in English, i am Greek but i live in US :D

O and yeah alexander, who almost conquered the world then, he was a macedonian, which was one of the most powerfull citys ever existex and he was the best fighter known in the balkans and the mediterranean.

This quote proves that Alexander is Greek "
*Our enemies are Medes and Persians, men who for centuries have lived soft and luxurious lives; we of Macedon for generations past have been trained in the hard school of danger and war. Above all, we are free men, and they are slaves. There are Greek troops, to be sure, in Persian service — but how different is their cause from ours! They will be fighting for pay — and not much of at that; we, on the contrary, shall fight for Greece, and our hearts will be in it. As for our foreign troops — Thracians, Paeonians, Illyrians, Agrianes — they are the best and stoutest soldiers in Europe, and they will find as their opponents the slackest and softest of the tribes of Asia. And what, finally, of the two men in supreme command? You have Alexander, they — Darius!
**Addressing his troops prior to the Battle of Issus, as quoted in Anabasis Alexandri by Arrian Book II, 7" 76.232.6.215 23:53, February 10, 2011 (UTC)

Ok so there is something wrong on this page. Firstly, shouldn't Alexander have used the sword instead of the staff? Secondly, Alexander III of Macedon is not Greek! What you have read and heard is all Greek lies. Greece did not exist back then, it was not a country, the word "Greece" or "Greek" wasn't invented therefore that quote is incorrect and it is just one of those lies that has been put in the new history books as the old ones were destroyed by the Greeks to ruin Macedonian history. Modern day Greece back then consisted of city states, e.g. Athens and Sparta and they were under the rule of the Macedonian Empire. Where you have said "Macedon IS in Greece", that is the province in Greece which the Greeks named "Macedonia" just to stir more shit and ruin the history of the true Macedonians. The true Macedonia is a REPUBLIC north of Greece, not the province... anyways Alexander the Great was born in Pella, and at the time Pella was a part of MACEDON! It was never Greek until Macedonia got split up into Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria. Plus Alexander's father, Filip II, was a Macedonian and he KILLED Greeks, so he couldn't have been Greek, which means Alexander the Great ISN'T Greek.

P.S. I don't know how to add in a signiture or get notified of replies and I won't be checking back to see if you replied so don't bother writing back, just fix up the mistakes in the page... thanks.
Did you pull all that information from your ass? The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) has nothing to do with ancient Macedonia who where of Hellenic descent, as opposed to FYROM who are of Slavic stalk. And Philip II was Greek (or Hellenic since they called themselves Hellenes) and participated in the Olympics like his ancestor Alexander I who was publically acknowledged he was Hellenic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_I_of_Macedon 76.197.10.74 02:34, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

Ancient Greece consisted of capital-states, like Sparta, Athens, Thiva and of course Macedonia. Alexander spoke greek, believed in greek gods and even HE said that he was Greek. And if you continue saying "he killed many greeks so he is not greek himself" learn that also sparta and athens hadd war with each other! Aren't they Greeks too? Learn some history, omg. Alexander the Great is of course GREEK! Even Iron Maiden agree with that!

Biography
Early life
Alexander was born to the king of Macedonia, Phillip II and the princess of Epirus, Olympias. Alexander was personally tutored by the Greek philosopher Aristotle from the age of 13 and was educated with sciences, medicine and philosophy, a great influence on his later exploits and personality. Three years after the beginning of his education, Phillip II invaded the nearby Thracian civilization with Macedonia's powerful army, leaving the kingdom of Macedonia to be governed by Alexander, temporary regent. Alexander skilfully defeated an uprising of the nearby Maedi tribes, defending his city and proving his ability in war. The conquered stronghold of the Maedi was renamed to Alexandropolis after its defeat.

Two years later, Alexander once again proved his worth in battle by defeating the Theban Sacred Band, an elite Greek force. This battle has been said to have been won due to Alexander's bravery.

Alexander continued to win against powerful opponents, using unique strategies and specialized men in battle rather than relying on superior force. He eventually went on to conquer Thessaly, the Thracians, the Illyrians, the Thebes, Persia, Egypt and Babylon, a city that once belonged to Persia. The secret of Alexander's success was actually The Staff of Eden. It is unclear exactly how Alexander obtained The Staff.

Characteristics and Personality
Personality
Alexander was an unbalanced individual, often using his influence over his soldiers to pursue whims or to avenge imagined slurs against his name. From an early age, the boy attempted to prove how special he was and how alike he was to the legendary hero Achilles from a popular tale known as the Illiad. His horse Bucephalus was a representation of his early mental state, managing to tame the beast, a feat that no other man could accomplish, but also embellishing the tale to make himself seem more important and special.

He was prideful and arrogant, yet attracted people to him like flies to honey. His charisma and incredible achievements did contribute to Alexander’s inflated sense of pride. An act that he committed during his march was the cutting of the Gordian Knot; a knot said to be impossible to untie. Alexander simply cut through the knot, his militaristic approach to an intellectual problem.

The man eventually lost his mind after conquering a huge area of land, causing his men to doubt his ability and his enemies to rally against a flagging leader. The death of his friend Hephaestion was the catalyst to Alexander the Great’s final downfall.

Appearance
Alexander was known to have a single blue eye and a single dark eye, possibly dark brown or dark blue. He has been described as fair-headed, in having lightly-colored hair. He was physically fit for most of his life and fair-skinned, with a strange tendency to move his head to the left whenever he looked at someone closely. He has been said to have had a pleasing, aroma-like scent.
