Clay was erased from the animus data banks. 2.Playing as Desmond wouldn't work because there's guns and the buildings are too tall, anyway why would you rather have modern era over e.g French revolution or American revolution (which is the case in AC3).

I'm so glad that there's a new character & setting for AC3, not that I didn't like Ezio or Altair because they're currently my two favourite video game characters & generally just my favourite characters ever. Oh and I would also like to ask, is ACR the lost archive any good? It's just I'm really sceptical about getting it & unlike some people I actually liked the puzzles because it added to the story, I don't understand why everyone hated it. I don't know, maybe it's just me being a super fan of assassin's creed but in my opinion you're only ever a true AC fan if you accept difference & change. Please don't hate me because of this.
