Haras (unknown - 1189) was an Assassin apprentice who, after becoming dissatisfied with his slow progression through the Assassin ranks, defected to the Templar Order.

In 2012, his genetic memories were used as an Animi Avatar by the Templar company Abstergo Industries, for the training of their Animus recruits, under the title of the Crusader.

Biography
During 1189, Haras betrayed the Assassin Order, and led an army of Templars to attack the Assassins' fortress of Masyaf, of which many Assassins were killed in the defense and Al Mualim was captured. Arriving back at Masyaf on a horse, the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad fought his way to the Assassin fortress and confronted Haras, who then threatened Altaïr with the death of Al Mualim.

Promptly retreating to the then Templar-occupied fortress, Haras proceeded to kill off the other Assassin hostages with his crossbow. Altaïr, who was locked outside the fortress by a portcullis gate, promptly scaled its walls and assassinated Haras.

As he died, Haras continued to defy the Assassins, claiming that the Templars knew the truth about humanity and that the Assassins' Creed was wrong. Soon after, Haras passed away, after affirming to Altaïr of his beliefs.

Personality and characteristics
According to Altaïr's suspicions, Haras was a man who sought the easy route instead of rightfully earning his place. He also had a reputation for being chameleon-like in combat, and could adapt his personality to suit others in order to find out their secrets.

However, his ambitions could take over him at times, leading to him hastily taking the opportunity to join the forces of the Crusaders, donning their uniform as he betrayed his fellow Assassin brothers.Just clarrifing sleepviper know need to get bitchy
Ahmet (1465 – 1512) was an Ottoman Şehzade (Prince), and the oldest son of Bayezid II. He was also the elder brother of Selim I and Korkut, and uncle of Suleiman I.

Tired of the feuds that divided men, Ahmet joined the Templar Order, eventually becoming the leader of the Byzantine Templars, while simultaneously having been chosen as the heir of his father, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire.

Believing that he was guaranteed control over the Ottoman Empire, Ahmet started an expedition to find the Masyaf Keys needed to open the hidden library in Masyaf. Here, he believed he would find the location of the "Grand Temple", and intended to use the power hidden there to further the Templar cause.

Eventually, Ahmet's efforts were thwarted by the combined efforts of the Ottoman Assassins and their Italian Assassin ally, the Mentor Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Ultimately, Ahmet's father chose Selim as his heir instead, and upon marching to Constantinople, Selim met with Ahmet and swiftly killed him.

Biography
Early life
Born the eldest living son of the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II in 1465, Ahmet was selected as his father's heir at childhood. With Ahmet sharing his distaste for war and an affection for knowledge with his father, many believed him to be the most reasonable choice.

Ahmet was eventually assigned to govern the Anatolian city of Amasya, as was the tradition of all Ottoman princes in the Empire. As time progressed, he continued to impress, and seemed ever more likely to be a successful candidate for the crown prince, especially when the Grand Vizier Hadim Ali Pasha began to support him.

Joining the Byzantine Templars
Ahmet became a Templar after exchanging letters with his exiled uncle Cem. Their philosophy appealed to him as he tired of the divisions within mankind and agreed that all the people should be united under one ruler. Cem informed him of the existence of Niccolò Polo's journal detailing the Library of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.

In 1509, an 1509 Istanbul earthquake, at which point Bayezid had disappeared from Constantinople. In his absence, Byzantine Templars - remnants of the fallen Byzantine Empire - led by Manuel Palaiologos entered the city, and strived to revive their fallen empire. Ahmet joined the Templars, though this act caused great internal conflict for him, as he was still an Ottoman prince, and acting for either the Ottomans or the Byzantines would mean turning his back on his other affiliation.

Ahmet, much younger and more charismatic than the elderly Manuel Palaiologos, slowly slipped into the position of leader of the Byzantine Templars, with Manuel becoming his second-in-command. At the same time, Bayezid and Selim had engaged in a conflict, as Selim was making an effort to gain the Ottoman throne for himself.

Gaining power in the Empire
In 1511, Ahmet initiated several plans to further his influence in the Ottoman Empire. One of these was to locate the "Grand Temple" of the First Civilization, which Ahmet believed they could find by accessing the library of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad - the late Mentor of the Levantine Assassins - located in Masyaf, Syria. Ahmet entrusted Manuel Palaiologos with the Masyaf expedition, and the search for the keys needed to open the library, while Ahmet himself focused his attention on matters in Constantinople. The first key was found by Ahmet's confidante Hasan Pasha in the tunnels beneath Topkapı Palace unearthed by the earthquake.

In the heart of the Ottoman Empire, Ahmet initiated a plot to have the Templars abduct Ahmet's own nephew, Suleiman, during a cultural exhibition. If this were to be successful, Ahmet would rescue him from the Byzantines, and be heralded a hero. Ahmet himself attended the celebration in Topkapı Palace, while Templars disguised as guests were tasked with abducting the young Shehzadem Suleiman.

However, to Ahmet's displeasure, the Templar infiltrators were killed by several Ottoman Assassins, who had entered the party disguised as Italian minstrels, on orders of their leader, Yusuf Tazim. Following the failed plot, Ahmet took advantage of the Janissaries' well-known distaste for him, and accused Janissary Captain Tarik Barleti of a conspiracy against him, since the Janissaries were tasked with the Prince's protection.

Some time later, Tarik was murdered in the Janissary camp, and it was commonly believed that Ahmet was the one responsible for his death.

Finding his nephew Suleiman in Topkapı Palace to inform him of the event, Ahmet noticed Suleiman was meeting with Ezio Auditore - introduced to Ahmet as "Marcello" by Suleiman - which led to Ahmet growing suspicious of the man, and of his interactions with his nephew.

Death
In March 1512, Ahmet personally traveled to Cappadocia, where Manuel Palaiologos was hiding and forming an army together with the renegade Shahkulu. Ahmet arrived shortly after Ezio had killed Manuel and taken the Masyaf key from him, giving him an opportunity to confront the Assassin.

Revealing himself to be the leader of the Byzantine Templars, Ahmet threatened to capture Ezio's love interest Sofia Sartor, after Ezio claimed to not know of the other Masyaf keys. Ahmet left his subordinates to take care of Ezio, while he returned to Constantinople to order Sofia's capture.

The capture, which resulted in the death of the Ottoman Assassin leader Yusuf Tazim, infuriated the Assassins, and led them to an all-out assault on the arsenal within Constantinople, where Ahmet was temporarily hiding.

Though many of his men were killed during the attack, Ahmet managed to salvage his own life by reminding Ezio that he still held Sofia. Offering to spare Sofia in exchange for the Masyaf keys, Ahmet arranged a meeting with Ezio near Galata Tower.

Ahmet met with Ezio on the rampart connected to Galata Tower soon afterwards, and after some mutual hostility, Ezio handed over the keys. Ahmet then directed Ezio to Sofia atop Galata Tower, but unbeknownst to the Assassin, the woman atop the Galata Tower was not Sofia, as Ahmet had ordered Sofia to be killed in a square not too far from the tower. Ahmet, finally having all keys in his possession, triumphantly hurried off to Masyaf.

As Ahmet and his entourage left Constantinople by several horse-drawn wagons, they were followed by Ezio and Sofia, who had been rescued from Ahmet's men. Leaving his soldiers to take care of the two, Ahmet rode ahead, and a chase ensued.

Ezio was able to dispatch the other wagons, before Ahmet smashed Ezio's cart, causing Ezio to fall off. Ezio was able to catch himself by using a parachute, holding onto a rope attached to the wagon as Sofia continued the pursuit of Ahmet.

After several more unsuccessful attempts from the Templars to shake Ezio and Sofia, Ahmet obliterated Sofia's cart, thinking he had finally lost them. As Ahmet proceeded onwards, Ezio lunged at him from a nearby ledge, and knocked him from his seat.

This resulted in both men free-falling off a cliff, and the two engaged in melee combat in mid-air. As they neared the ground, however, Ezio deployed another parachute to break the fall, and Ahmet survived by clinging onto him during the descent.

As they faced each other again on solid ground, and wondered what would happen next, Ahmet's brother Selim arrived, accompanied by the Sultan's army.

Selim revealed that their father had abdicated the throne, and had chosen Selim as his heir. Selim proceeded to strangle Ahmet, before throwing him off a cliff to his death.
Personality and characteristics
{{Quote|You are weak, Ahmet. Pensive in times of war and restless in times of peace.
Ahmet, being a member of the most powerful family and rulers of Constantinople, was a proud and arrogant man. The fact that he had counted on his father's support of him becoming the next Sultan only made this worse, as he felt no doubt about his father's choice.

Ahmet constantly paid attention to his relations with the public, as he realized the equal importance of their support. Therefore, he was easily upset by events as Tarik Barleti's death, which he regarded as an assault on his public image.

However, a significant proportion of the citizens of Constantinople preferred Ahmet's brother, Selim, to become the Sultan. They argued that Ahmet was a weak man, who had difficulties with making important choices when it came to war, and who would become restless in times of peace.

As leader of the Byzantine Templars, Ahmet was an intelligent and cunning man. Due to his age and charm, he was able to rule over men who would not normally accept another as their superior. Ahmet managed to set up a scheme to get his hands on the Masyaf keys, while simultaneously maintaining his good public image. Ahmet was a true templar deadicated to helping the world unlike others who only sought power and wealth.

He also had a reputation for being chameleon-like in combat, and could adapt his personality to suit others in order to find out their secrets.Haras was truly a skilled manipulator.

However, his ambitions could take over him at times, leading to him hastily taking the opportunity to join the forces of the Crusaders, donning their uniform as he betrayed his fellow Assassin brothers.

Final words
*Haras: You put too much faith in the hearts of men, Altaïr. The Templars know the truth. Humans are weak, base and petty.
*Altaïr: No, our creed is evidence to the contrary.
Haras scoffs.
*Haras: Perhaps I am not wise enough to understand, but I suspect the opposite; that I am too wise to believe such rubbish.
The title of Master Assassin was one of the highest obtainable ranks within the Assassin Order, and those who held this title were presumed to have reached the peak of their training as an Assassin. The rank garnered a large amount of respect from other members within the Order and indicated individuals who possessed uncommon skill and talent, most often in the arts of stealth and assassination.

A Master Assassin was meant to embody the Creed: they never harmed an innocent, always hid in plain sight, and never compromised the Brotherhood.

History
In 1176, Umar Ibn-La'Ahad and his fellow Assassin Faheem Al-Sayf held the title of Master Assassin. However, Umar gave his life to spare the Brotherhood from a siege, in retribution for an assassination gone wrong.

In 1191, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad held the position, before being demoted to a novice following his failure to obtain the Apple of Eden beneath Solomon's Temple, along with his arrogance and disregard of the tenets of the Creed. He eventually regained this title through several assassinations in support of the Order's interests, and held it during the assassinations of Robert de Sable and Rashid ad-Din Sinan.

In 1499, Ezio Auditore da Firenze obtained the rank, before rising to be the Mentor of the Italian Assassins, following the liberation of Rome from the House of Borgia's grasp. Also, during the 16th century, Yusuf Tazim, the leader of the Constantinople Assassins Guild, alongside the famed Turkish navy admiral, cartographer, and bomb specialist Piri Reis, were Master Assassins. As well as those two, Dogan and Kasim, who were Yusuf's lieutenants, also held the rank of Master Assassin. Duncan walpole was a master assassin trained by both English and Caribbean assassins. His mentor Ah Tabai was also a master assassin.

In the 18th century, Achilles Davenport was a Master Assassin of the Colonial Brotherhood. Following the near complete collapse of the sect in 1763, Achilles retreated into exile, but soon returned to prominence as the Mentor of the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton.

For the 19th and 20th centuries, Nikolai Orelov, a member of the Narodnaya Volya sect of the Russian Assassins, was a Master Assassin as well.

Attire
Middle Ages
Like other Assassins, Master Assassins possessed the eagle beak-like design upon their hoods, but their robes were generally longer, forming a bird-like "tail" that fluttered whenever they were in an area of strong wind. In addition, their leather belts were larger, their red sashes wider and longer, and they had permission to carry any weapon they desired.

Renaissance
With the order much less public, a uniform guideline as to the attire of a Master Assassin no longer existed. The Master Assassins of the Renaissance were a small, underground group, with broader access to knowledge and weapons. Most retained their freerunning, Hidden Blades and hooded traditions. Master Assassins were also the only Assassins permitted to wield dual Hidden Blades.

As Assassin Dens were erected within Constantinople, Ezio Auditore promoted several high-ranking Assassins to be Master Assassins who guarded the structures. These new Master Assassins would be trained specially by Ezio to be able to fulfill their role, and this extra training allowed them to hold the Dens against Templar attacks.
Duncan Walpole (1679 – 1715) was a member of the Assassin Order stationed in the Caribbean, during the early 18th century, who attempted to defect to the Templars.
Duncan joined the British navy at the age of eighteen he served for three years. But was frustrated by his slow progress. He was recruited by a fellow sailor into the assassin brotherhood.
In June of 1715, the Royal Navy warship carrying Walpole, the HMS Intrigue, identified and attacked a pirate brig, the Jacobite, captained by Bramah. The pirates managed to de-mast the frigate, but soon found that their own weapon magazine had been hit. Boarding the ship, Walpole assassinated the captain, but was thrown overboard by the magazine explosion.

Shipwrecked in Cape Bonavista, Cuba, Walpole attempted to enlist the aid of the only other survivor - the pirate Edward Kenway - in reaching Havana. Edward attempted to haggle the price of passage, but Duncan threatened him with a flintlock pistol in response, only to find that it was unable to fire due to wet gunpowder. Walpole subsequently fled into the jungle, and Edward gave chase before eventually killing him.

On Duncan's corpse, Edward found a letter from the Spanish Governor of Cuba, Laureano de Torres y Ayala, referencing the cargo Walpole was bringing to him, a blood vial and maps pertaining to the locations of Assassin bureaus across the Caribbean. Edward chose to assume Walpole's identity and collect the reward himself.
*Notably, Duncan Walpole was the second cousin of Robert Walpole, 1st Earl of Oxford, the generally-recognized first Prime Minister of Great Britain.
Yusuf Tazim (c. 1467 – 1512) was the leader of the Ottoman Brotherhood of Assassins, operating primarily in the Empire's capital of Constantinople. Born as the son of an Assassin, Yusuf was raised on the streets, and joined the Order in his late teens after meeting Ishak Pasha.

He was involved in the fight against the Byzantine Templars during the early 1510s, and aided Ezio Auditore da Firenze – a Mentor in the Assassin Order and leader of the Italian Assassins – during his stay in Constantinople.

In the process, Yusuf and Ezio managed to form good relations with the Ottoman Prince Suleiman I, and thwarted the Templars' plans to overthrow the Ottoman Empire.

Biography
Early life
Yusuf was born in Bursa, but grew up in Constantinople from the age of eight. His father was an Assassin, later prompting Yusuf to follow in his footsteps; however, he was raised only by his mother, with the fate of his father unknown.

Sometime around 1484, at the age of seventeen, Yusuf had become well known in the city as a vigilante and petty thief, which later caught the attention of Vizier and Assassin Ishak Pasha. Taken in by the man's charisma, Yusuf joined the Order just before he turned twenty.

In 1502, Yusuf allied with a contingent of Venetian Assassins in Greece to bring an end to the Ottoman-Venetian war. Their efforts led to a halt in the battle, and a brief era of peace on their borders by 1503.

The Ottoman Assassins enjoyed this moment of peace until 1509, when the Templars banded together under the crest of the ancient Byzantine Empire. Yusuf led the Assassins in the struggle, and his efforts eventually allowed him to be appointed the leader of his guild by 1511.

Meeting Ezio Auditore
In 1511, the Ottoman guild heard of Ezio Auditore's encounter with the Templars occupying the ancient Assassin fortress of Masyaf, and Yusuf himself went to meet the Mentor at the Golden Horn.

While he showed Ezio around the city, he explained the current conflict between the Assassins and Templars in Constantinople, as well as that between the Ottomans and Byzantines. He also spoke briefly to him of the Assassins' more dire situation when they had been under the Byzantine Emperor, where they had been hunted down and killed on sight.

Upon acquainting Ezio with the local Assassin guild in the Galata District, Yusuf introduced him to the Hookblade, a common tool of the Ottoman Assassins, which Yusuf claimed to have grown up using. After a demonstration of its features, the two climbed Galata Tower and viewed the city from above, before both performing a Leap of Faith to the street.

Defending the Brotherhood
As they went to return to the guild, Yusuf and Ezio were met by one of the Ottoman Assassins, who claimed that two of their dens were under attack. Knowing he could not be in two places at once, Yusuf sent Ezio to protect the Galata den, while he traveled to the Grand Bazaar.
Though the Galata den was saved, Yusuf arrived too late, and the Bazaar became overrun by Templars. Ezio caught up with Yusuf in time to help him fend off several guards, and the two set off to retake the district.

Upon reclaiming the den and verifying that it had not been damaged, Yusuf taught Ezio how to craft bombs, and further recommended that he find Piri Reis should he wish to learn more.

At this point, Ezio also showed Yusuf the journal of Niccolò Polo, and told him of the Masyaf Keys. Though Yusuf did not know anything about the keys or the journal, he suggested that Ezio ask Piri for the directions to Niccolò and Maffeo Polo's old trading post as well.

Some time afterward, Yusuf traveled to visit the Assassin allies of Constantinople; the Mercenaries, Thieves, and Romanies. However, as they were each located in different districts, Ezio offered his help in coordinating with the Romanies, which Yusuf gratefully accepted.

Rescuing Suleiman
Later in 1511, Yusuf and his Assassins discovered a planned attempt on Prince Suleiman's life, soon after he had returned from a pilgrimage. In order to protect him, they prepared to infiltrate the Prince's cultural exhibition at Topkapı Palace dressed as Italian entertainers.

Ezio met with them as they discussed their plan atop the Hippodrome, and offered his help. However, Yusuf insisted that this was an Ottoman affair, and that he need not be involved.

As Ezio explained that he wanted to learn more about the Masyaf Key that had been found under Topkapı, Yusuf reminded him that their mission was to protect Suleiman, not question him. However, Yusuf finally consented to Ezio's request to trust him, and so the Ottoman Assassins and the two departed to secure disguises.

After knocking out and stealing the clothing of several minstrels, they managed to enter the party. As Ezio distracted the crowd and identified the concealed Byzantines with his gift, Yusuf and his men silently eliminated the targets and hid the bodies.

However, the Byzantines eventually realized the danger, and killed one of the palace guards, triggering the alarm. As the Janissaries quickly told Suleiman to escape the area, the Templars desperately tried an open attempt on Suleiman's life.

Yusuf broke his cover and killed several of the enemies with his blade, with Ezio intercepting the last hidden Templar, and killing him with the snapped off neck of his lute.

Spying upon Palaiologos
After one of his Assassins had discovered the delivery of several firearms to the Harbor of Theodosius, Yusuf left to investigate. There, he encountered Ezio, who had been tailing Tarik Barleti at Suleiman's request.

As Ezio thought of a means of entering the well-guarded area, the two witnessed a couple of Janissaries terrorizing a nearby merchant and stealing his goods. Yusuf remarked on this oppression, and so Ezio concluded that using nearby heralds to provoke a riot would give enough cover for him to enter.

However, Yusuf frowned upon this idea, saying that Ezio would manipulate the people for his own purposes. Seeing the necessity though, he merely insisted that Ezio at least protect the rioters from the attacking guards during the distraction.

Upon doing so and successfully entering the port, Ezio soon discovered Manuel Palaiologos speaking with Shahkulu and Tarik, and overheard that the weapons would be bound for an unknown Templar base.

Death
In 1512, when Ezio decided to set sail for the Templar province of Cappadocia to pursue Manuel, Yusuf came to inform him that the Great Chain had been raised to block any ships from leaving. He then gave the Mentor a powerful explosive to destroy the structure, and aided him in attacking the ships that were stationed to intercept his escape.

Before departing, Ezio requested Yusuf to protect his love interest, Sofia Sartor, from harm. Yusuf agreed, and he and the other Assassins guarded Sofia's residence at the former Polo trading post.

Sofia's shop was soon raided by Byzantine Templars, who had secretly been working for Prince Ahmet. Yusuf faced off against the Templars inside the store and managed to eliminate many of them, however, he was eventually dealt a fatal blow to the back, and Sofia was taken captive by the remaining attackers.

Upon Ezio's return from Cappadocia, he discovered Yusuf's body on a bench in Sofia's shop, with the dagger still pierced into him. He removed the blade and closed Yusuf's eyes, offering him his final rites and saying quietly that he had earned his rest.

Enraged by both Yusuf's death and the endangerment of Sofia's life, Ezio led a large-scale assault on Ahmet's forces in the Arsenal. Though the Assassins managed to kill many of the soldiers, Ezio was forced to allow Ahmet to escape, as he still held Sofia hostage.

Soon after Yusuf had been buried in a small cemetery near Galata Tower, Ezio spoke with the Ottoman Assassins who had gathered in his memory and appointed one among them as the new leader of the guild.

Personality and characteristics
Yusuf was a light-hearted and cheerful man, whom Ezio once described as an "affable fighter." Even when engaged in battle or facing several enemies, he would often joke about the situation.

Nevertheless, Yusuf was a skilled warrior and a respected leader, showing open attachment to his fellow Assassins and receiving their obedience in return. Though fighting for the Order's interests, he also acknowledged Constantinople as a whole; putting importance in the protection of their Prince, regardless of whether or not he aided the Assassins.

Yusuf wore tan Assassin robes and a headband, both with teal sashes, an attire matching that of other Ottoman Master Assassins. He wielded a personal kijil, a Hidden Blade, a Hookblade and throwing knives.

Trivia
*In the memory "The Prince's Banquet", Yusuf made use of a parachute. Previously, Ezio was the only person seen using them.
*Yusuf jokingly referred to himself as "Yusuf Tazim da Istanbul" during his first time meeting Ezio, when told that "da Firenze" indicated the city where Ezio was born. This is puzzling, as Yusuf was born in Bursa.
*Yusuf and Suleiman were the names of two central characters in Vladimir Bartol's Alamut (1938 novel), on which Assassin's Creed is partially based. They were the two who performed "leaps of faith" and died for the sake of the paradise promised to them by their Master.
*In the novelization, it was claimed that Yusuf was fifteen years younger than Ezio.
*Yusuf is a Turkish and Arabic variant of the Hebrew name יוֹסֵף (Yosef), meaning "the Lord increases". Tazim is an Arabic name that means "to venerate, to show respect, to revere".
**Yusuf's surname was also the first name of Malik Al-Sayf's son, Tazim.

He eventually regained this title through several assassinations in support of the Order's interests, and held it during the assassinations of Robert de Sable and Al Mualim.Malik Al-Sayf was also a master assassin during this time
