'''Rebecca Crane''' is one of the modern day [[Assassins]] introduced in ''[[Assassin's Creed II]]''. She is the creator of the [[Animus 2.0]] - which she affectionately refers to as "Baby" - and provides technical support for the Assassins alongside her partner, [[Shaun Hastings]]. She appears to be an old friend of [[Lucy Stillman]], although, prior to the game, the two purportedly did not see one another for seven years, implied to be because of Lucy's internment at [[Abstergo]].

In ''Assassin's Creed II'', Rebecca serves as tech support for the Animus 2.0. She often leaves notes within the [[Database Articles|database entries]] that Shaun makes available for [[Desmond Miles]] while he is in the Animus, especially if the entries (i.e. about a particular structure) indicate the presence of a [[glyph|Glyph]] or [[Assassin's Tombs|Assassin's Tomb]] therein. The data module that Rebecca receives from Lucy with the records of the [[Animus|Abstergo version of the Animus]] allow Desmond to interact with the encrypted files [[Subject 16]] left behind in [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]]'s memories.

==Characteristics and personality==
Rebecca is an energetic, somewhat immature young woman - despite the fact that she saved his life, Shaun Hastings is quick to belittle and gibe at her. She is tolerant and optimistic, representing Shaun's foil - she is the polar opposite of her colleague, friendly and talkative. She shows great pride in her work, praising her redesign of the Animus as having a far more enlightened and creative construct; a ''"competitive edge"'' as she calls it. She also remains convinced that, despite Shaun's dubiousness of their means, the Assassins are -as Desmond puts it- ''"the good guys."''

==Trivia==
*When in the Animus 2.0, Rebecca adds information to the database using the name REBECCAC84. This username holds her first name, the initial of her last name, and implies her birth year. This may mean that she is 28 as of [[Modern Times|2012]].
*Her email is Snowmass7, likely to reflect her previous hobby.
*Before working for the Assassins, she loved playing sports and was once a snowboarder. However, after breaking her leg, she quit and discovered that she found technology more interesting.
*When Lucy Stillman and Desmond Miles first enter the hideout, Rebecca greets Lucy happily and exclaims: ''"It's been so long... Seven years!"'' This means that the last time the two friends saw each other was in 2005.
*In ''[[Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood]]'', she appears to have put on make-up, unlike in ''Assassin's Creed II''.
*After losing her MP3 player, Rebecca sends an e-mail to her teammates about it, claiming that she ''"can't sleep without it."''
*She mentions to Desmond that she once went into the Animus, but comments that her ancestor's life as a Prussian mercenary was boring, due to spending several hours constantly shooting.
*In the e-mails in ''Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood'', Shaun said to the others ''"Rebecca is a Templar."'' This however, is meant sarcastically, as it was in response to Rebecca having told Lucy that Shaun had taken her food from the fridge.
*She is shown to be a vegetarian in ''Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood'', as she shows disgust when Desmond takes a bite of a hamburger, calling him a ''"carnivore."'' She then goes on to defend herself from Shaun, who attempts to explain how eating vegetables is not much different from eating animals.
*In ''Brotherhood'' Desmond questions whether she has killed before. She replies saying that before she joined the Assassins she had a boyfriend, then after joining she did not.
*In one of the emails she talks about missing her family, and owning a dog.
