He served the Sultan until his loyalty to him dissolved, after Bayezid's ambitions to conquer the world subsided. From then on, Ali joined the Templars in the hopes of bringing order and glory to a world ruled by chaos.

In 2012, his [[Genetic memory|genetic memories]] were used as an Animi Avatar by the Templar company [[Abstergo Industries]], for the training of their [[Animus]] recruits, under the title of the [[Vizier]].

In 1511, Ali was robbed by a Templar [[Templar Tax Collectors|tax collector]] in [[Constantinople]]. Coincidentally, the [[Italian Assassins|Italian Assassin]] [[Mentor]], [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]], and one of his [[apprentices]] witnessed the crime, having spotted the tax collector wandering the rooftops earlier. Both chased after the Templar, with Ezio staying on ground level while his apprentice took to the rooftops. Eventually, the apprentice caught up to the thief and assassinated him, handing the documents that they had retrieved over to Ezio.

Ezio then told his apprentice to take care of the body, while he would deliver the documents back to the vizier, to which he did successfully. Ali thanked Ezio, following which he inquired about "the young [[Assassins|Assassin]]" who was with Ezio.

Since he and his Apprentice had not revealed their ties to the man, Ezio briskly ignored the question and simply told Ali to enjoy the rest of his day, before leaving the man to himself.

Later that year, Ali had a bounty put on one of Ezio's apprentices, the same one who had previously helped retrieve his documents, causing them to be attacked by a group of [[Byzantine Empire|Byzantines]] in the [[Grand Bazaar]]. While this was happening, Ezio was alerted to the danger by a [[Civilians|civilian]], and managed to arrive in time to protect his apprentice. With the guards dealt with, the two of them began their escape, intending to draw their pursuers out into the open.

On their way out of the bazaar, another group of Byzantines ambushed the Assassins in the Old Bedesten of the bazaar. After they were swiftly dealt with, Ezio ordered his apprentice to quickly hide.

Following this, Ali entered into the bazaar with two Byzantine guards accompanying him, and angrily demanded that his men bring the Assassins to justice. As Ali was solely focused on the sight before him, Ezio's apprentice was able to quickly and stealthily make their way behind Ali, before they assassinated him, while his Byzantine companions could do nothing to help him as they failed to notice anything until it was too late.

In his last words, Ali stated that the Assassins constantly destroyed any and all of the progress the Templars had made, and that he could have delivered his people into the arms of the Templars had they not interfered.

Tired of the feuds that divided men, Ahmet joined the [[Templars|Templar Order]], eventually becoming the leader of the [[Byzantine Empire|Byzantine]] Templars, while simultaneously having been chosen as the heir of his father, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire.

Believing that he was guaranteed control over the Ottoman Empire, Ahmet started an expedition to find the [[Masyaf Keys]] needed to open the [[library of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad|hidden library]] in [[Masyaf]]. Here, he believed he would find the location of the "[[Grand Temple]]", and intended to use the power hidden there to further the Templar cause.

Eventually, Ahmet's efforts were thwarted by the combined efforts of the [[Turkish Assassins|Ottoman Assassins]] and their [[Italian Assassins|Italian Assassin]] ally, the [[Mentor]] [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]].

Ahmet became a Templar after exchanging letters with his exiled uncle [[Cem]]. Their philosophy appealed to him as he tired of the divisions within mankind and agreed that all the people should be united under one ruler. In 1511, Ahmet initiated several plans to further his influence in the Ottoman Empire. One of these was to locate the "[[Grand Temple]]" of the [[First Civilization]], which Ahmet believed they could find by accessing the library of [[Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad]] - the late Mentor of the [[Levantine Assassins]] - located in Masyaf, [[Syria]]. Ahmet entrusted Manuel Palaiologos with the Masyaf expedition, and the search for the [[Masyaf Keys|keys]] needed to open the library, while Ahmet himself focused his attention on matters in Constantinople.<ref name="ACR"/> The first key was found by Ahmet's confidante [[Hasan Pasha]] in the [[tunnels]] beneath [[Topkapı Palace]] unearthed by the earthquake.<ref name="Recollection"/>

In the heart of the Ottoman Empire, Ahmet initiated a plot to have the Templars abduct Ahmet's own nephew, Suleiman, during a cultural exhibition. If this were to be successful, Ahmet would rescue him from the Byzantines, and be heralded a hero. Ahmet himself attended the celebration in [[Topkapı Palace]], while Templars disguised as guests were tasked with abducting the young ''Shehzadem'' Suleiman.<ref name="ACR"/>

However, to Ahmet's displeasure, the Templar infiltrators were killed by several Ottoman Assassins, who had entered the party disguised as [[Italy|Italian]] minstrels, on orders of their leader, [[Yusuf Tazim]]. Following the failed plot, Ahmet took advantage of the [[Janissaries]]' well-known distaste for him, and accused Janissary Captain [[Tarik Barleti]] of a conspiracy against him, since the Janissaries were tasked with the Prince's protection.<ref name="ACR"/>

Some time later, Tarik was murdered in the Janissary camp, and it was commonly believed that Ahmet was the one responsible for his death.<ref name="ACR"/>

Finding his nephew Suleiman in Topkapı Palace to inform him of the event, Ahmet noticed Suleiman was meeting with Ezio Auditore - introduced to Ahmet as "Marcello" by Suleiman - which led to Ahmet growing suspicious of the man, and of his interactions with his nephew.<ref name="ACR"/>

In March 1512, Ahmet personally traveled to [[Derinkuyu|Cappadocia]], where Manuel Palaiologos was hiding and forming an army together with the renegade [[Shahkulu]]. Ahmet arrived shortly after Ezio had killed Manuel and taken the Masyaf key from him, giving him an opportunity to confront the Assassin.<ref name="ACR"/>

Revealing himself to be the leader of the Byzantine Templars, Ahmet threatened to capture Ezio's love interest [[Sofia Sartor]], after Ezio claimed to not know of the other Masyaf keys. Ahmet left his subordinates to take care of Ezio, while he returned to Constantinople to order Sofia's capture.<ref name="ACR"/>

The capture, which resulted in the death of the Ottoman Assassin leader Yusuf Tazim, infuriated the Assassins, and led them to an all-out assault on the arsenal within Constantinople, where Ahmet was temporarily hiding.<ref name="ACR"/>

Though many of his men were killed during the attack, Ahmet managed to salvage his own life by reminding Ezio that he still held Sofia. Offering to spare Sofia in exchange for the Masyaf keys, Ahmet arranged a meeting with Ezio near [[Galata Tower]].<ref name="ACR"/>

Ahmet met with Ezio on the rampart connected to Galata Tower soon afterwards, and after some mutual hostility, Ezio handed over the keys. Ahmet then directed Ezio to Sofia atop Galata Tower, but unbeknownst to the Assassin, the woman atop the Galata Tower was not Sofia, as Ahmet had ordered Sofia to be killed in a square not too far from the tower. Ahmet, finally having all keys in his possession, triumphantly hurried off to Masyaf.<ref name="ACR"/>

As Ahmet and his entourage left Constantinople by several [[Horses|horse]]-drawn wagons, they were followed by Ezio and Sofia, who had been rescued from Ahmet's men. Leaving his soldiers to take care of the two, Ahmet rode ahead, and a chase ensued.<ref name="ACR"/>

Ezio was able to dispatch the other wagons, before Ahmet smashed Ezio's cart, causing Ezio to fall off. Ezio was able to catch himself by using a [[Parachutes|parachute]], holding onto a rope attached to the wagon as Sofia continued the pursuit of Ahmet.<ref name="ACR"/>

After several more unsuccessful attempts from the Templars to shake Ezio and Sofia, Ahmet obliterated Sofia's cart, thinking he had finally lost them. As Ahmet proceeded onwards, Ezio lunged at him from a nearby ledge, and knocked him from his seat.<ref name="ACR"/>

This resulted in both men free-falling off a cliff, and the two engaged in melee combat in mid-air. As they neared the ground, however, Ezio deployed another parachute to break the fall, and Ahmet survived by clinging onto him during the descent.<ref name="ACR"/>

As they faced each other again on solid ground, and wondered what would happen next, Ahmet's brother Selim arrived, accompanied by the Sultan's army.<ref name="ACR"/>

Selim revealed that their father had abdicated the throne, and had chosen Selim as his heir. Selim proceeded to strangle Ahmet, before throwing him off a cliff to his death.<ref name="ACR"/>

Ahmet, being a member of the most powerful family and rulers of Constantinople, was a proud and arrogant man. The fact that he had counted on his father's support of him becoming the next Sultan only made this worse, as he felt no doubt about his father's choice.<ref name="ACR"/>

Ahmet constantly paid attention to his relations with the public, as he realized the equal importance of their support. Therefore, he was easily upset by events as Tarik Barleti's death, which he regarded as an assault on his public image.<ref name="ACR"/>

However, a significant proportion of the citizens of Constantinople preferred Ahmet's brother, Selim, to become the Sultan. They argued that Ahmet was a weak man, who had difficulties with making important choices when it came to war, and who would become restless in times of peace.<ref name="ACR"/>

As leader of the Byzantine Templars, Ahmet was an intelligent and cunning man. Due to his age and charm, he was able to rule over men who would not normally accept another as their superior. Ahmet managed to set up a scheme to get his hands on the Masyaf keys, while simultaneously maintaining his good public image.<ref name="ACR"/>

Yusuf was born in [[Bursa]], but grew up in Constantinople from the age of eight. His father was an Assassin, later prompting Yusuf to follow in his footsteps; however, he was raised only by his mother, with the fate of his father unknown.

Sometime around 1484, at the age of seventeen, Yusuf had become well known in the city as a vigilante and petty [[Thieves|thief]], which later caught the attention of Vizier and Assassin [[Ishak Pasha]]. Taken in by the man's charisma, Yusuf joined the Order just before he turned twenty.

In 1502, Yusuf allied with a contingent of [[Venice|Venetian]] Assassins in [[Greece]] to bring an end to the [[Ottoman Empire|Ottoman]]-Venetian war. Their efforts led to a halt in the battle, and a brief era of peace on their borders by 1503.

The Ottoman Assassins enjoyed this moment of peace until 1509, when the Templars banded together under the crest of the ancient [[Byzantine Empire]]. Yusuf led the Assassins in the struggle, and his efforts eventually allowed him to be appointed the leader of his guild by 1511.

In 1511, the Ottoman guild heard of Ezio Auditore's encounter with the Templars occupying the ancient Assassin fortress of [[Masyaf]], and Yusuf himself went to meet the Mentor at the [[Golden Horn]].

While he showed Ezio around the city, he explained the current conflict between the Assassins and Templars in Constantinople, as well as that between the Ottomans and Byzantines. He also spoke briefly to him of the Assassins' more dire situation when they had been under the Byzantine Emperor, where they had been hunted down and killed on sight.

Upon acquainting Ezio with the local Assassin guild in the [[Galata District]], Yusuf introduced him to the [[Hookblade]], a common tool of the Ottoman Assassins, which Yusuf claimed to have grown up using. After a demonstration of its features, the two climbed [[Galata Tower]] and viewed the city from above, before both performing a [[Leap of Faith]] to the street.

As they went to return to the guild, Yusuf and Ezio were met by one of the Ottoman Assassins, who claimed that two of [[Assassin Dens|their dens]] were under attack. Knowing he could not be in two places at once, Yusuf sent Ezio to protect the Galata den, while he traveled to the [[Grand Bazaar]].

Though the Galata den was saved, Yusuf arrived too late, and the Bazaar became overrun by Templars. Ezio caught up with Yusuf in time to help him fend off several [[guards]], and the two set off to retake the district.

Upon reclaiming the den and verifying that it had not been damaged, Yusuf taught Ezio how to craft [[bombs]], and further recommended that he find [[Piri Reis]] should he wish to learn more.

At this point, Ezio also showed Yusuf the [[The Secret Crusade|journal]] of [[Niccolò Polo]], and told him of the [[Masyaf Keys]]. Though Yusuf did not know anything about the keys or the journal, he suggested that Ezio ask Piri for the directions to Niccolò and [[Maffeo Polo]]'s old trading post as well.

Some time afterward, Yusuf traveled to visit the Assassin allies of Constantinople; the [[Mercenaries]], Thieves, and [[Romani]]es. However, as they were each located in different districts, Ezio offered his help in coordinating with the Romanies, which Yusuf gratefully accepted.

Later in 1511, Yusuf and his Assassins discovered a [[Attack on Prince Suleiman|planned attempt]] on Prince Suleiman's life, soon after he had returned from a pilgrimage. In order to protect him, they prepared to infiltrate the Prince's cultural exhibition at [[Topkapı Palace]] dressed as [[Italy|Italian]] [[Civilians#Minstrels|entertainers]].

Ezio met with them as they discussed their plan atop the [[Hippodrome of Constantinople|Hippodrome]], and offered his help. However, Yusuf insisted that this was an Ottoman affair, and that he need not be involved.

As Ezio explained that he wanted to learn more about the Masyaf Key that had been found under Topkapı, Yusuf reminded him that their mission was to protect Suleiman, not question him. However, Yusuf finally consented to Ezio's request to trust him, and so the Ottoman Assassins and the two departed to secure disguises.

In 1512, when Ezio decided to set sail for the Templar province of [[Derinkuyu|Cappadocia]] to pursue Manuel, Yusuf came to inform him that the [[Great Chain]] had been raised to block any ships from leaving. He then gave the Mentor a powerful explosive to destroy the structure, and aided him in attacking the ships that were stationed to intercept his escape.

Before departing, Ezio requested Yusuf to protect his love interest, [[Sofia Sartor]], from harm. Yusuf agreed, and he and the other Assassins guarded Sofia's residence at the former Polo trading post.

Sofia's shop was soon raided by Byzantine Templars, who had secretly been working for Prince [[Ahmet]]. Yusuf faced off against the Templars inside the store and managed to eliminate many of them, however, he was eventually dealt a fatal blow to the back, and Sofia was taken captive by the remaining attackers.

In 1511, the Ottoman guild heard of Ezio Auditore's encounter with the Templars occupying the ancient Assassin fortress of [[Masyaf]], and Yusuf himself went to meet the Mentor at the [[Golden Horn]].

While he showed Ezio around the city, he explained the current conflict between the Assassins and Templars in Constantinople, as well as that between the Ottomans and Byzantines. He also spoke briefly to him of the Assassins' more dire situation when they had been under the Byzantine Emperor, where they had been hunted down and killed on sight.

Though the Galata den was saved, Yusuf arrived too late, and the Bazaar became overrun by Templars. Ezio caught up with Yusuf in time to help him fend off several [[guards]], and the two set off to retake the district.

Upon reclaiming the den and verifying that it had not been damaged, Yusuf taught Ezio how to craft [[bombs]], and further recommended that he find [[Piri Reis]] should he wish to learn more.
