'''Ezio Auditore de Firenze''' (Eagle of Florence) is to be the protagonist of [[Assassin's Creed II]]. Ezio is a young Florentian nobleman-turned-assassin in the year 1486. An article from GameInformer states that he is a descendant of [[Altaïr]] and ancestor to [[Desmond Miles|Desmond]]. An interview with the game's creative director, Patrice Desilets, confirms that the Ezio becomes an assassin to seek his vengeance on the rival families that killed his family, and it is possible that they are Templars. Ezio is also announced to be allied with the famous inventor/artist Leonardo da Vinci and the writer/philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli.

== Equipment ==
It has been announced that Ezio will be able to use a variety of weapons including two hidden blades and some enemy weapons such as an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, two different sword types, and a halberd. Ezio will be able to use da Vinci's flying machine in some parts of the game with the help of some of his friends, with whom he has set up the fires throughout the city, from which he can gain altitude. In addition to the hidden blades Ezio is shown to have a firearm of some sort (most likely an early wheel lock firearm) concealed near his left hidden blade.

==Trivia==
* The Italian name 'Ezio' derives from the Greek word 'Aetos', which means "Eagle", similar to Altaïr whose name means "The Flying Eagle".
* Ezio has all ten fingers, unlike Altair who had his ring finger on his hand removed to make space for the hidden blade. This is explained as Leonardo DaVinci inventing a hidden blade that placed the blade farther from palm, sparing the ring finger.
* Ezio uses a wheel lock firearm, a type of weapon that Europe didn't start developing until the very late 1400's and early 1500's, making this weapon most likely one of the very first firearms to appear in Europe, thus many people may not know what the weapon is in game. The earliest firearms were single shot and took time to reload, so will most likely be only used as a last resort weapon.

'''Garnier de Naplouse''' is the second Templar assigned by [[Al Mualim]] for [[Altaïr]] to assassinate. He is a doctor and Grand Master of the Knights Hospitalier in the city of [[Acre]] and a secret member of the [[Knights Templar]]s. He is found in the city's poor district.

==Description==
Garnier de Naplouse was exiled from France for the cruel and inhumane treatment of his patients. He viewed them less as people, or more as test subjects. He later re-established mad business in the city of Acre where he treats his patients cruelly by conducting experiments on them, torturing them, and not allowing them leave (even going so far as having his men break their legs). In order to not draw attention to his acts he forcefully takes his patients from the surrounding cities of [[Jerusalem]] and [[Damascus]] with help of [[Talal]], a fellow member of the Templars. He has been protected in Acre due to the amount of coin his family had donated towards the war effort.

Though claiming to be a man of knowledge, Garnier lacks ethics. He never sees the price of knowledge as too high, even if it must be paid with another man's blood.

==Death==
Garnier was assassinated within his Hospitalier Fortress by Altaïr while attending to his victims. During his monologue after his assassination, he speaks of how he was actually helping people. He claims that the people he took were among the poorest and most ill of the other cities, and that many have recovered and thanked him for his help. He says his methods were necessary to free people from the "prisons of their own minds".
