Jabal (Arabic: جبل) was a member of the Assassin Order, the bureau leader of Acre, and a Rafiq.

Biography
Altaïr's visits
Before Altaïr lost his Master Assassin rank at Solomon's Temple, Jabal - like all other bureau leaders - used to give him the information necessary to assassinate his target, rather than make him search for it himself.

However, this changed as Altaïr was stripped off his ranks, to be Novice once more, learning the ways of assassination and stealth through gathering information. Thus, Jabal and the other bureau leaders constantly pushed Altaïr to find out as much of his target as possible, trying to cleanse him from the arrogance that also caused him to fail at Solomon's Temple.

First visit
When Altaïr's had to assassinate his first target at Acre, Garnier de Naplouse, Jabal seemed impressed as the former Master told him he had already gathered enough information to safely go through with his mission. The bureau leader continued his interrogation of the assassin, eventually giving him permission to go, saying: "Remove this stain from Acre, Altaïr. Perhaps it will help cleanse your own.", obviously hinting at the assassin's failure that had caused him the strip of his ranks.

Second visit
The second time Altaïr came to visit Jabal during his Hunt for the Nine, to assassinate William of Montferrat, Jabal greeted the assassin, telling him word had spread about his deeds. The Rafiq then mentioned that Altaïr seemed sincere in his desire to redeem himself, already hinting that he previously lost trust in the assassin when he first heard of the his failure. He then told Altaïr what he knew of the target, before letting him go to search for information himself.

Later the Master Assassin came back to Jabal, telling the bureau leader what he had found out about his target. Jabal heard him out, eventually giving him leave to go, handing him the feather. Altaïr assured him he'd be back after assassinating his target.

Third visit
At Altaïr's third arrival, to assassinate Sibrand, Jabal seemed to be in a less joyful mood than he had been before, nodding sagely as the Master Assasin mentioned Sibrand's name. When Altaïr told the Rafiq he had already learned much about his target, Jabal seemed obviously impressed, but pushed the assassin to tell everything he knew, before handing him the feather, warning him to be on his guard. However, when Altaïr turned to leave, the Rafiq apologized for doubting the dedication the Master showed to the Assassins' cause. After Altaïr reassured him it was himself who erred, and that Jabal owed him nothing, the Rafiq let him go, wishing him safety as he left.

Assault on Acre's harbour
After planning to journey to Cyprus in pursuit of the Templars, Altaïr questioned Jabal about their contacts there, where he confirmed there was a Resistance that would aid them.

Characteristics and personality
Jabal tended to always be in a serious mood. He never smiled and seemed to strongly distrust Altair, afraid that his arrogance would cause him to fail. He went straight to the point in most cases, as when Altair first visited him to assassinate Garnier his first words are: "A little bird told me you'd be paying a visit," referring to the messenger pigeon Al Mualim sent.

After Garnier's assassination, Altair was troubled, since Garnier had believed he was helping his patients. Jabal dismissed his cpncerns, saying that he should put it out of his mind because he had seen a place of suffering. In this, he shows a critical failing; in this instance, Jabal was content to see the surface of things.

He appeared to be very old - having a fully greyed beard - but still aware as to what exactly was going on around him; already knowing of Altaïr's failure at Solomon's Temple the first time the assassin had come to the Acre Bureau.

Later, as Altaïr was about to assassinate Sibrand, Jabal apologized for his mistrust in the dedication Altaïr showed to the Assassin cause.
Jabal was present at the Retaking of Masyaf, one of the few Assassins unaffected by the Apple's influence. Jabal was present at the Retaking of Masyaf, one of the few Assassins unaffected by the Apple's influence. After saving Altaïr from several Assassins influenced by the Apple, he alongside Malik Al-Sayf and several others flanked the other mind-controlled Assassins whilst Altaïr battled Al Mualim.

Subsequently after Al Mualim's demise, there were riots from the Assassins and civilians, still not accepting the truth of Al Mualim's betrayal. Jabal was one of the Assassins to stay loyal to Altaïr during the riots and help calm them.

Assault on Acre's harbour
After planning to journey to Cyprus in pursuit of the Templars, Altaïr questioned Jabal about their contacts there, where he confirmed there was a Resistance that would aid them.

Characteristics and personality
Jabal tended to always be in a jovial mood; mentioned is that his eyes twinkled as he greeted Altaïr back into his assassins' bureau, also looking up as the former Master Assassin visited his bureau for the first time, pleasantly greeting him with a joke: "A little bird told me you'd be paying a visit," refering to the messenger pigeon Al Mualim sent. He also seemed slightly easily entertained, as he smiled at this joke and let go of the pigeon, watching it with amused eyes.

He appeared to be very old - having a fully greyed beard - but still aware as to what exactly was going on around him; already knowing of Altaïr's failure at Solomon's Temple the first time the assassin had come to the Acre Bureau.

Later, as Altaïr was about to assassinate Sibrand, Jabal apologized for his mistrust in the dedication Altaïr showed to the Assassin cause, showing that there was more than just his humorous appearance.

Trivia
*Jabal's name was only given in Assassin's Creed: The Secret Crusade, in Assassin's Creed he is only referred to as "Rafiq".

The Crossbow was one of Ezio Auditore's many weapons. It was mainly a long range weapon, but could also be used in up-close combat.

History
Renaissance
The crossbow was a ranged weapon that could be bought for 12,800 florins at any Blacksmith shop in Rome. After purchasing the weapon, the number of bolts could be upgraded by buying the medium and large quivers from Tailor shops. Each quiver increased the maximum number of bolts carried by 5 each time, with the default number of bolts being 15 and the maximum number being 25.

Usage
Stealth
The crossbow was like the pistol's complementary ranged weapon; it had the same range, but was silent. The way the crossbow was fired was similar to that of the pistol, though it aimed faster and could be fired while moving and while on beams.

Unlike the pistol, which alerted guards the moment it was fired, the crossbow only called attention to Ezio when the target collapsed.

Combat
The crossbow could be used in battle alongside its stealth capabilities. In battle, it could be fired at close range, as well as being able to counter an enemy's attack. When fired at close range, the crossbow would kill the targeted enemy but doing so would incur a rather long reload time. Crossbowmen and some horsemen used the crossbow in battle, firing repeatedly at Ezio, at close quarters as well as at a long range. Ezio could also use the crossbow to defend against charging horsemen by blocking them with the crossbow equipped.

Finishing moves
The crossbow featured some animations while counter-killing opponents. However, the crossbow could not counter long or heavy weapons.

Skull Smasher
Ezio thrusted his crossbow into the target's abdomen. As his target doubled over, Ezio, with both hands, smashed the bottom of his crossbow onto the back of his target's head, forcing the target to land face-first onto the ground. (Does not need ammunition or a reload to be performed)

Suffocation
Ezio forcefully thrusted his target with the metal, beak-like tip of his crossbow twice. The first time in the abdomen, and the second time in the neck. The target slowly backed up and falls to his knees, holding his neck while choking, and collapsed. (Does not need ammunition or a reload to be performed)

Neck Shot
Ezio thrusted his crossbow first into the target's abdomen and then in his neck, firing the crossbow the moment it made contact with the enemy. (Requires ammunition and must be reloaded in order to be performed)

Spinal Shot
Ezio thrusted his crossbow into the target's abdomen, and then stepped back to shoot him directly down the back of his neck as he doubled over in pain. (Requires ammunition and must be reloaded in order to be performed)

Trip Shot
Ezio ducked, spun around, and sweeped his target off of his feet with the crossbow. Ezio then quickly rose upright and shot his target who was lying dazed on the ground. (Requires ammunition and must be reloaded in order to be performed)

Trivia
*The crossbow functions the same way as the pistol, however, it is less powerful, as it does not always kill certain targets such as Borgia Captains, unlike the hidden gun, which always guarantees a kill, unless used on an assassination target.
*In order to unlock the large quiver, the shop quest "Pulling Threads" must be completed first.
*Most of the time, when Ezio performs the Trip Shot counter attack, the firing sound will not occur.
*During the Animus loading screen, if Ezio draws his crossbow, a single crossbow bolt can be found lying on the ground. It disappears when the crossbow is put away and vice versa.
*When performing certain actions with the crossbow, Ezio's upper body does not move at all (besides the arm holding the crossbow while he is drawing it/beginning to aim/sheathing it). This may give Ezio a robotic appearance when running, as his entire upper body is completely still while performing any actions.
*In a trailer seen at E3 (above picture of Ezio on the Colosseum) Ezio is seen equipped with a different crossbow to the one in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. This one is the same as the ones the Crossbowmen guards use.
*The crossbow was featured in the mobile version of Assassin's Creed as a historical mistake by the developers, it was obtained prior to his confrontation with Majd Addin. The crossbow can be used to kill enemies at a safe distance, to trigger gear mechanisms or to shoot down flameholders to light torches. The ammunition of the weapon can be refilled by walking into a weapon recharge point.
