The Sentinel (real name: Vali cel Tradat) was an Animi Avatar used by Abstergo Industries to train the recruits in the second stage of their Animi Training Program. His specialty weapon was a long katar.

The sentinel is unlocked by either killing him in single player or by pre- ordering the game.

Description
Previously a member of the Assassin Order until his defection, the Sentinel kills for the Templars in order to gain revenge for the truce bartered between the Assassins and the Ottoman Empire, the same faction which had invaded his home country and humiliated his secret role model, Vlad Tepes.

Unique Moves
The Sentinel had several unique moves:

(Low Profile, Front)

The Sentinel walks up to his target and unsheathes his katar. He slaps the back of his hand into his victim's face and spins to build up momentum. Before his contract has a chance to defend themself he brutally stabs their stomach. He then withdraws his blade and watches his target fall to the floor.

(Low Profile, Back)

The Sentinel silently walks up to his victim from behind, before placing his arm on his victim's shoulder and forcing them to the floor to his right. Before his target can get up he unsheathes his katar and impales their spine, leaving them incapacitated and bleeding to death.

(High Profile, Front)

The Sentinel runs up to his target and puts one leg next to their leg and pushes them to the floor. Now they are at a disadvantage the Sentinel gets out his katar and impales the victim's heart, and leaves them on the floor, dead.

(High Profile, Back)

The Sentinel has his katar in hand, he runs up behind his contract, puts his arm under his victims arm, twist them around, whilst pulling back the opponents arm, he then flips his target over his weapon, thus slicing his contract's neck as he pushes them to the ground.

(Bench Kill)

The Sentinel grabs his seated target's foot and drags them off the bench, until their head rests against it. Before his victim can do anything to defend themselves, the Sentinel forcefully kicks them in the face, violently sending their head backwards and breaking his target's neck on the bench behind them.

(Aerial Kill)

As the Sentinel jumps off from the building, he lands over his victim with his katar in his hand, he then stabs his unfortunate target in their chest, piercing their heart before getting up and setting his weapon back into its holster, leaving his dead contract.

Taunts
*"Time to rest."
*"Revenge is sweet."
Similar to his Italian counterpart, but not in the same manner, the Ottoman Doctor used a bladed syringe as his primary weapon.
Unique Moves
The Ottoman Doctor casually walks towards his target before savagely kicking their left leg. As they clutch their wounded limb, the Ottoman Doctor slashes the right of their abdomen with the blade on his syringe, before stabbing it into their back, filling their body with deadly poison.

(Low Profile, Back)

The Ottoman Doctor brutally stabs his syringe into his target's back, fracturing their spine. He then removes the syringe and slashes the target's new wound with the blade on his syringe, watching as they spiral to the floor.

(High Profile, Front)

The Ottoman Doctor rushes up to his target and cleanly stabs them in the neck with his syringe. As the poison fills their body, the Ottoman Doctor twists the syringe, and removes it, watching his victim collapse to floor.

(High Profile, Back)

The Ottoman Doctor runs up behind his target and pulls out his syringe. He jams his poisonous weapon into their body, causing his victim to recoil in agony. The Ottoman Doctor then watches as his victim dies slowly of the poison on the floor.

(Bench Kill)
(Aerial Kill)

The Ottoman Doctor leaps from above and removes his syringe from its holster. As he lands upon his victim, he brutally stabs the target in the skull, injecting their brain with his poison.
Giving out bribes to shopkeepers, Odai's actions were soon discovered by the Mentor of the Assassin Order, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and his apprentice. Arriving at a marketplace, Ezio soon found Odai, who had just finished talking with a merchant. Ezio then acquired all of the money that had been given and decided to pay a visit to Odai's consorter, a rich man named Theodoros Komnenos .

Meeting up with the rich man once again, Ezio caught him explaining Odai and his fellow Templars' misdeeds, telling the two Assassins of their plans to keep prices so high that the public's opinion will turn against them. While Ezio tailed the Theodoros, Odai was waiting, claiming that the man could have a permanent position of wealth in Alexandria. Theodoros was speechless and soon revealed to Odai that the Assassins had followed him.

In frustration, Odai stabbed the man and had his bodyguard throw his corpse onto the street, in fear of the Assassins' presense. Ezio's apprentice chased after him, and Ezio, who had killed the bodyguard, ran in front of Odai, blocking his path. His apprentice swiftly assassinated Odai, and dying, Odai told them that they had completed his life by killing him at that time.
After her actions of swindling the poor out of their money, many of her fellow Romani complained and attempted to remove her. These actions soon caught the aattention of an apprentice of Ezio Auditore, who immediately informed him as soon as they were appointed as a den leader. The apprentice asked Ezio to escort a Romani to Mirela, and protect her. Despite many of Mirela's hitmen that had been sent, Ezio killed them all. When they arrived Mirela was already having a conversation with other Romani, one of which chastised her for being a trickster and a charlatan. After a futile attempt to calm her, Mirela responds by poisoning her and framing the murder to look like the other Romanies did it. While Ezio stopped the nearby guards from killing them, his apprentice ran after Mirela hoping to kill her, but to no avail.
The Egyptian Assassins were a branch of Assassins located in Egypt, one of the few branches to have existed for over a thousand years.

History
On 12 August 30 BCE, the Egyptian Assassin Amunet infiltrated the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra's palace, and killed her with a venomous asp.

In 1257, Darim Ibn-La'Ahad, the son of the Mentor of the Syrian Assassins Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, moved to Alexandria after the Syrian Assassins were disbanded. Darim joined the widow of his deceased brother and her children, which lead to their bloodline integrating into the Egyptian Assassins.

By 1511, the Egyptian Assassins were under the leadership of their Mentor Iskender, a descendant of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. He was captured to be executed that year, but saved by Ottoman Assassins sent from Constantinople by the Mentor of the Italian Assassins, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Manuel Palaiologos (1455 – 1512) was an heir to the Byzantine throne at the time of the collapse of the Byzantines. Following its breakdown, he surrendered his claim to the throne in exchange for a comfortable life as an Ottoman subject.

Biography
Early life
Manuel was born in 1455, two years after the Fall of Constantinople, as an heir to the Byzantine throne. He lived with his family in Morea, but they fled in 1460 to Corfu. The family later travelled to Rome, where his father, Thomas Palaiologos, was recognized as the Byzantine Emperor.
Templar Connection
Manuel and his brother later developed a relationship with the Templar Grand Master Rodrigo Borgia in the hopes of becoming one of Rodrigos pawns in furthering templar ambitions abroad and with the correct resources, even restoring control over the throne of Constantinople. Sadly however this came to nothing when Rodrigo lost interest in any kind of eastern uprising against the Ottomans.

Life in Constantinople
Under Sultan Bayezid II's rule, Manuel returned to Constantinople, where he received a pension in exchange for his rights to the Byzantine throne. Here he had two sons, Loannes and Andreas, and lived a luxurious life.

In 1511, surviving members of the Byzantine Empire, who were secretly Templars, aimed to remove the Ottomans from power and resurrect their empire. It was unclear to the Assassin Order whether or not Palaiologos was siding with the Templars, and thus the Grand Master of the Assassins, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, tasked himself with finding out about Manuel's true allegiance.

Work in Cappadocia and death
Ezio discovered Manuel was working for the Templars in Cappadocia, and went to the underground city to locate the Templar. While in Cappadocia, Ezio discovered that the Templars had an army stationed there, and that Manuel's lieutenant, Shahkulu, was torturing Ottoman spies. Ezio assassinated Shahkulu, and then chased after Manuel who fled and called for his guards. However, Ezio caught Manuel later and the two fought, with Ezio eventually killing Manuel.

In his final words, Manuel expressed his desire to be Byzantine emperor, and said he had devised many plans for the position. Ezio responded by saying that his empire was already dead and that Manuel's desire was only a dream. However, Manuel believed that his dream was also that of the Templars dream, which was of universal order and peace. Manuel gave the Assassin the key he held to Altaïr's library, but advised Ezio he could be killed before he even open the secret library.
Raised as an Assassin from birth alongside Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, these two men became best friends during their childhood. However, after Altaïr revealed to Abbas that Abbas' father had killed himself rather than leaving the Order as Abbas had thought, Abbas labelled Altaïr a liar and developed a hatred for him that would span a lifetime.

After Altaïr killed their former Mentor, Al Mualim, Abbas stood against Altaïr, who desired to become the Order's new leader. He eventually repented, and laid low during Altaïr's time as Mentor.

When Altaïr and his family left for Mongolia to deal with the Mongol threat and Genghis Khan, Abbas staged a secret coup d'état against the Order, killing Altaïr's son Sef and framing Altaïr's best friend and right-hand man Malik Al-Sayf, who was thrown into prison. With Sef and Malik out of the way, Abbas was the only one left with the most power in the Order and implemented a council into the Order with himself as its head. Eventually, he also disbanded the council, usurping the title of Mentor and becoming the sole leader of the Syrian Assassins.

Under Abbas' leadership, the Order declined and became corrupted. Additionally, Abbas spent the majority of his time hiding in Masyaf's fortress, fearing for his life. Eventually, the Assassins joined Altaïr once again, and Abbas was killed.

Biography
Early years
Abbas Sofian was born in Masyaf, in the year 1166. The son of Ahmad Sofian, a member of the Assassin Order, Abbas spent the first decade of his life living with his father until, in 1176. That year, during the Siege of Masyaf, his father was captured by the attacking Saracens, who, under torture, revealed the name of Umar Ibn-La'Ahad as being the Assassin who killed a Saracen nobleman. Ahmad's life was traded for that of Umar, on request of Umar himself, and the Saracens executed Umar. Ahmad, feeling guilt of Umar's death, killed himself in Umar and his son Altaïr's quarters; however, Abbas was brought up to believe that his father had left the Order, to eventually return.

Abbas was paired with Altaïr and together they began their training to become an Assassin under Al Mualim. The two boys developed a close friendship, eventually being constantly by one another's side and referring to each other as brothers, though the thought of his father's self-imposed exile was never far from his mind.

After some time, Altaïr began to notice a change in Abbas' mood, with the strain of his father's disappearance beginning to wear him down. In the hopes that it would give him some peace, Altaïr informed Abbas that his father had not deserted Abbas as he had thought, but that he had actually committed suicide in Altaïr's chambers not long after the Saracen siege. Abbas refused to believe him, and simply turned around in his bed, silent.

During combat training the next day, he requested their instructor Labib to use real swords, which was accepted. However, instead of doing the normal training, he attacked Altaïr in a burst of hatred, demanding to know why he had lied. Reluctantly, Altaïr eventually admitted to lying, and the two were thrown in the cells for a month. When they were allowed to continue their training, Abbas was punished further, as Al Mualim decreed that he had brought disrepute to the Order by allowing his emotions free rein, and as such his training was to be extended by a year.

Attack on Masyaf
Following these events, neither of the two considered the other a brother. When Abbas was 16 years old, Masyaf was attacked by the Templars, due to an agent infiltrating the order. Abbas joined his fellow Assassins in battle against the Templars. When Altaïr arrived, Abbas met up with him and told him they needed to fall back and that they could do nothing for Al Mualim, who the Templars took hostage. However, Altaïr ordered Abbas to flank the Templars once they were driven from the castle by him, though Abbas protested against this idea.

Altaïr was eventually successful in saving Al Mualim, after which Altaïr was leveled to the rank of Master Assassin. Abbas, jealous, spat on the ground before Altaïr's feet, who simply sneered at Abbas. This event was the first sign of Altaïr's arrogance, which would over time further fuel Abbas' hatred for Altaïr.

Retaking of Masyaf
Forgive me... I did not... know...
In late 1191, Al Mualim used the "Apple of Eden" that he had acquired earlier the same year to brainwash the Assassins and use them for his personal gain. Revealed to be a secret Templar as well, Al Mualim was confronted by Altaïr, who eventually killed him.

Altaïr carried Al Mualim's body through the shocked crowd of Masyaf, and eventually lay Al Mualim's body on a pile of wood on a cliffside. As Altaïr lit the body on fire, Abbas confronted him, saying that burning a man's body is forbidden. In his defense, Altaïr said that the body could be "another one of Al Mualim's phantoms" and that he could not return. Angry, Abbas shoved Altaïr off the cliff, who was confronted by angry citizens and Assassins.

Abbas somehow obtained the Apple of Eden from Al Mualim's study, and climbed to the top of the watchtower right outside the fortress. He activated the Apple, but realized it was too much for his mind to bear, and the life was slowly being drained from his body and was also affecting several Assassins in the area. Altaïr had climbed up the tower and took the Apple from Abbas, after which he muttered an apology to Altaïr while falling to the ground.

Not too soon later, Altaïr gained full support of the other members of the Order, and became the Mentor of the Syrian Assassins, to Abbas' displease. However, his new-found hatred for his late mentor surpassed even his hatred for Altaïr.

Assuming control
Abbas continued to serve the Assassins during the events that followed, well into Altaïr's reign as Mentor. However, following Altaïr's departure for the Far East in 1217, he slowly begun to build up support among the populace to undermine the rule of the Order's acting-Master and second-in-command; Malik Al-Sayf. In 1225, he struck.

Abbas commanded his subordinate Swami, a weak-minded Apprentice, to murder Sef Ibn-La'Ahad, the youngest son of Altaïr, then pin the blame on Malik. As a result, Malik was imprisoned and an acting Council took over, in accordance with the tenets of the Creed, with Abbas at its head.

Two years later, in 1227, Altaïr, his wife Maria, and their eldest son, Darim, returned from their ten year journey to the Far East, unaware of the events that had transpired in their absence. Arriving at the fortress, the aging Mentor was informed that his son, Sef, had departed for Alamut not long before their arrival. Darim left for Alamut immediately, and the next day Altaïr and Maria met with Abbas and the ruling Council.

During the meeting, Abbas informed the Mentor that Sef had been murdered by Malik just one month before, and that the Council had been set up following his arrest. Altaïr demanded that the council turn over command of the Order to him, though Abbas refused. Abbas refused claiming that Altaïr was impartial since his son had just been murdered and he might act out of vengeance.

The next day, after Altaïr learned the true circumstances surrounding his son's death. He then went into the dungeons to see Malik and in order to see what was going on. Seeing that Malik was in an extremely bad state he left him in the care of his family. He decided to confront Abbas again, but he managed to turn the Assassins against Altaïr after he accused him of killing Malik out of vengeance, showing Malik's decapitated head in public as proof. However in reality he had been killed by Swami on Abbas' orders. Following a brief struggle, which resulted in the death of both Swami and Maria, Altaïr fled from Masyaf, and Abbas assumed the title of Mentor.

Later life
Twenty years passed before Abbas once again had to deal with Altaïr. During his reign, the Assassin retreated into their fortress, leaving the surrounding countryside to the mercy of Fahad's bandits. He imposed increasingly severe levies on the local civilians, and took severe action against any uprising and dissent, like that which followed Altaïr's escape in 1227. In the year 1247, Abbas learned that Altaïr had returned, intent on reclaiming his position. With the help of Malik's son, Altaïr gained help from his fellow Assassins against Abbas. Altaïr made stress of the fact that no blood was to be spilled this day and because of that, most of Abbas's supporting forces joined Altaïr.

After a brief power struggle, which saw most of the Order return their allegiances to Altaïr, Abbas confronted the eighty-two-year-old Assassin on the steps of the Masyaf fortress. Once again refusing to accept the truth surrounding his father's death, Abbas ordered his few remaining followers to kill Altaïr. The former Mentor extended his arm at Abbas and placed his other hand on the wrist, and a second later, the castle echoed with the sound of an explosion. Looking down, Abbas saw a small stain of blood appear on his chest, which then expanded, until the front of his robes was entirely wet with blood. He collapsed and rolled down the stairs to Altaïr's feet, where he uttered his final words, telling his former friend that he hoped there was a second life after death, where they could meet again and Abbas could know the truth about his father. Closing his eyes, he died, the first victim of the hidden gun.

Tarik Barleti was the Captain of the Janissaries during the early 16th century.

History
Attack on Suleiman I
In 1511, Tarik became very distrustful of Ahmet, Suleiman's uncle. Tarik saw Ahmet not fit to lead, much to Ahmet's anger. As Ezio Auditore spied on this encounter, he concluded that Tarik had ordered the assassination attempt on Suleiman in order to make Ahmet look weak. As Ezio brought this news to Suleiman, he was tasked to ensure Tarik would not succeed.

Templar association and death
Tarik came into contact with Manuel Palaiologos and Shahkulu, both of whom were members of the Templar Order. Ezio observed this meeting while tailing Tarik, at the request of Prince Suleiman. Believing Tarik to be a Templar, Ezio infiltrated the Janissary camp, and air assassinated Tarik while disguised as a Janissary.

Near death, Ezio was proved wrong of accusing him of treachery, for Tarik was preparing an ambush to strike Manuel, Shahkulu, and other Byzantine Templars "when they felt safest". Ezio did not believe him at first, but the dying Tarik produced a document that would eventually lead Ezio to the Byzantines in Cappadocia and urged him to destroy them. Ezio relented and begged for forgiveness. Tarik simply pleaded for Ezio to protect his homeland in God's name and to redeem the honor they he had lost in this fight. Tarik had even gone as far as to send an envoy to Cappadocia. One of which included a woman named Dilara, who posed as a slave, though she was also secret a love interest of Tarik's.

Last Words
*Tarik: Ah, what a bitter irony. Is this the result of Suleiman's investigation?
*Ezio: You collude with the Sultan's enemies. What did you expect would come of such treachery?
*Tarik: I blame myself. Not for treason, but hubris. I was preparing an ambush. Preparing to strike the Byzantine Templars where they felt safest.
*Ezio: What proof do you have of this?
*Tarik: See here. This will lead you to the Byzantines in Cappadocia. Destroy them if you can.
*Ezio: You have done well, Tarik. Forgive me.
Caha (died 1503) was a French Hellequin in the service of Cesare Borgia, and the sister of Cahin.

Her genetic memories were later used by Abstergo Industries for the training of the Animus recruits, under the title of the Hellequin.

Biography
Performance
Around 1497, Caha, Cahin, and a fellow Templar, Fiora Cavazza, were tasked to kill one who had "some claim to foreign royal blood." Thus, Caha and Cahin orchestrated a performance together, while Fiora watched from the audience and waited for their cue.

As Caha began juggling her barbed daggers to hold the guests' attention, Cahin slipped behind their target and stabbed him through his chair. As all present began to panic, Caha threw her blades into the throats of two of the guests.

Fiora drew her own weapon and joined them as well, until the entire audience had been killed.

Death
In 1503, Fiora turned on her old allies to join the Assassins, and led a team of them to pursue the French siblings. As Caha and Cahin performed in the streets, they did not notice Fiora and the Assassins infiltrating their audience.

Finally realizing the danger, Caha threw a smoke bomb into the crowd so she and her brother could escape. However, Cahin was caught and killed by four of the Assassins and, enraged, Caha charged at Fiora.

Amused, the Assassins only watched as Caha and Fiora dueled, and though she fought furiously, the Hellequin finally yielded and crawled to her brother's corpse. Caha only cradled Cahin's body, not acknowledging the Assassin who came up behind her and shot a crossbow bolt into her head.

Trivia
*Caha's and her brother's names are based on the French phrase "cahin caha," meaning "willy nilly."
Swami (died 1227) was a member of the Assassin Order during the Third Crusade period. After Abbas Sofian became the head of the Order's council, Swami became his right-hand man.
Biography
Early life
The son of Farim, Swami was a weak-minded Assassin apprentice who refused to learn the proper ways of the Order. He was incompetent and thought himself to be better than the other apprentices, when in reality, he was one of the worst.

Coup d'etat
Circa 1225, Abbas Sofian, a high-ranking Assassin, planned a coup d'état to take over the Assassin Order from its temporary leader, Malik Al-Sayf, while the Order's Master, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad was absent. Swami joined Abbas in the plan, and he was ordered to kill Sef Ibn-La'Ahad, the son of the Master. Moments before doing so, he told Sef that Sef's own father ordered his death. After successfully killing Sef, Abbas then placed the murder weapon in Malik's bed, framing him, and testified that he heard Malik and Sef arguing that same day. Malik was consequently thrown into prison, and a council was formed to rule the Order - with Abbas at its head.

Return of the Mentor
Circa 1227, Altaïr, his wife, and son returned to Masyaf from Mongolia after having successfully assassinated Genghis Khan, and Swami was sent to greet them upon their arrival. Meeting Altaïr and his family, Swami was asked why they weren't greeted by Rauf as requested. Swami replied that he had died of fever, but Altaïr had his doubts. Swami also informed Altaïr of the presence of the council, and Malik's imprisonment. He also told them that Sef had fled to Alamut, and Altaïr's remaining son Darim left Masyaf to retrieve him.

The next day, Altaïr went to meet the council with his wife Maria, but Swami intercepted their path and led the way. Altaïr met the council, and noticed that the council was made of the most weak-minded of the Order. During an argument between Abbas and Altaïr, he was led to believe that Sef was killed by Malik, henceforth his imprisonment.

Death
After having saved Malik from prison and hearing the truth about his son's death, Altaïr angrily went to the council. In his absence, Swami was quickly ordered to kill Malik in Altaïr's quarters and beheaded him, putting his head in a burlap sack. Altaïr met with Abbas, and Swami. After Abbas was done questioning Altaïr, he demanded that the Apple of Eden be given to him. Altaïr took it out of his robes and held it out, in an attempt to show the other Assassins that Abbas only craved to use the power of the Apple to corrupt and control them, as Al Mualim did.

When Swami went to retrieve the Apple, he told Altaïr that before he killed Sef, he told him that his own father ordered his death. Altaïr became enraged with hate and pain, so much so that it was transferred into the Apple. When Swami went to take it, Altaïr froze him with the Apple's power. Swami's body lost control and he reached for his dagger. Maria jumped in front of Altaïr, telling him he let his anger get the best of him. However, in his uncontrolled state, Swami stabbed Maria's back. Altaïr quickly stabbed Swami through the bottom of his jaw, killing him.

Trivia
*In The Secret Crusade, Swami killed himself in the novel by touching the Apple of Eden, but in Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Altaïr used the Apple on Swami.
In 1191, after the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad killed eight Templar agents spread throughout the Holy Land, she was assigned by Robert to disguise herself as the Grand Master and thus fool Altaïr, realizing that Robert was his next target. The plan was a success, and Altaïr spared Maria's life. However, Robert was ultimately killed shortly thereafter, and Armand Bouchart took over as Grand Master.

Bouchart did not favor Maria, however, and did not find transport for her when the Templars moved to Cyprus. Planning to find her own way there, she was defeated and captured by Altaïr before she could do so, as the Assassins had attacked the Templars' fortress in Acre. Blaming Altaïr for ruining her reputation in the Order, she was taken with him to Cyprus and forced to help him take down the Templars.

Unwillingly giving information to Altaïr and escaping her captors several times, Maria began to realize that the Templars' ambitions were not beneficial for humanity, and slowly got closer to Altaïr. Eventually, she and Altaïr infiltrated the Templar Archive in Limassol, where she went ahead of the Assassin and faced off against Bouchart alone. Though she was defeated, Altaïr was able to defeat the Grand Master and he helped Maria get out of the crumbling Archive.

Maria then followed Altaïr to the Assassins' fortress of the Masyaf, where she settled down with Altaïr and had two children with him. Several years later, Maria, Altaïr and their son Darim went on a journey to assassinate the Mongol leader Genghis Khan.
Early life
{{Quote|I'm what they call the unusual one in my family. Growing up, I always preferred the boys' games. Dolls weren't for me, much to my parents' continued exasperation. In her youth, Maria chose not to follow the norm for women of her age, and instead acted and dressed as a male would. Because of this, she was often pestered as a child, and punished by her parents.

Before the start of the Third Crusade, her parents forced her to marry, though it ended four years after. This disgrace, combined with Maria's own dreams of honor and glory, persuaded her to leave England behind, and join the Crusaders in the Holy Land.
Joining the Templars
{{Quote|Fortunately the Bishop of Leicester was a close friend of the elderly Lord Hallaton and he was able to grant an annulment [of the marriage] rather than risking this silly impetuous girl cause the family ruther embarrassment. It was uncommon for women to participate in combat during the time, thus Maria disguised herself as a man. She showed much promise amongst the Crusaders, and attracted the attention of Robert de Sable; a Crusader Lieutenant, and the Grand Master of the Templar Order.

Despite later learning her true gender, Robert supported her and even appointed Maria to be his personal steward.
At one point, Robert gave her a ring as a gift, which Maria cherished and kept close. Following the deaths of eight powerful Templars in 1191 at the hands of the Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad - a member of the Templars' sworn enemies, the Assassins - Robert correctly reasoned that he was next on the Assassin's list.

Not one to be defeated, Robert publicly announced his intention to attend the funeral of the late Regent of Jerusalem, Majd Addin, as a show of mutual cooperation and respect between Muslim and Crusader. Privately, the Templar Grand Master knew that this would be a chance too great for the Assassin to pass up.

Maria was left to take Robert's place at the funeral, as a decoy for Altaïr. As expected, the Assassin appeared during the funeral procession. Maria carefully examined the mass and managed to spot him. She signaled the funeral proctor of Altaïr's presence, and a great number of Templars were ordered to seize him.

Altaïr overpowered the soldiers, and in the end, grasped Maria to remove her helm. Altaïr was greatly shocked that it was a woman he had fought, and questioned it as sorcery. Maria corrected him that it was not, and revealed that she was in Robert's place as a distraction; saying that both his Brotherhood's success of taking the Templar treasure, and eradicating her comrades had not gone unnoticed.

Maria then continued, admitting that Robert had gone to Arsuf to propose a truce between the Saracen and Crusader armies, in order to besiege the Assassin fortress of Masyaf. As the eight Templars who had been killed by Altaïr had come from both sides, the Assassins had become their common enemy.

Though Maria thought she would also be one of the Templars to die at the Assassin's hand, Altaïr corrected her, sparing her life but warning her not to follow him. Out of her confusion, Maria replied haughtily that she did not need to, and that it was futile for him to try to stop Robert.

A month after Altaïr had killed both Robert and Al Mualim, Maria's Templar rank had dropped considerably, and she was not allowed to travel to Cyprus with her fellow Templars. She confronted Altaïr after the assault on the Acre harbor, where the two of them engaged in another sword fight.

Altaïr bested her, and interrogated her about the Templars' plans for Cyprus. Afterwards, Altaïr took Maria prisoner and brought her with him on the journey to Cyprus, hoping to use her as leverage to lure other Templars out into the open.

The two of them traveled to Limassol, where they met with the Assassin contact, Alexander. Maria was escorted and kept at the resistance safehouse, but escaped following an ambush by Templars, during which the building was set on fire.

Maria hurried to warn the new Grand Master of the Templars, Armand Bouchart, of Altaïr's presence in Limassol, but Armand only grew suspicious of Maria's two "miraculous" escapes from the Assassins. That, coupled with his general distrust of women, led him to sentencing her to be locked away in prison.

Maria was led away by two Templar guards, only to be saved by Altaïr. After his recovery of her, she vowed to kill him, but Altaïr reasoned with her, noting that the best way to buy back into the Templar's favor was not with his head, but through her recovery of the Apple of Eden.
{{Dialogue3|Altaïr|The philosopher Empedocles preached that all life on earth began simply, in rudimentary forms: hands without arms, heads without bodies, eyes without faces.

Altaïr took Maria along with him on the ship to Kyrenia. Whilst on the ship, Altaïr spoke to her about the philosophy of Empedocles – saying that "only a mind free of impediments is capable of grasping the chaotic beauty of the world."

Although Maria resisted his ideology, she did take interest in it, asking curiously as to whether being able to see this "chaotic beauty" was truly something to be celebrated. In turn, Altaïr admitted to hardship imposed upon human beings as a result of freedom; though he maintained that "the order and peace the Templar seek requires servility and imprisonment," a statement with which the captive Maria found some irony.

As the two prepared to disembark, Altaïr cut the rope binding Maria's wrists so that she would be able climb the ladder to the upper deck. However, as she did, the two were recognized by the pirates who had ferried them there. Maria used the opportunity to kick Altaïr down the ladder, forcing him to face their attackers and allow her to escape.

However, Maria was also attacked by other members of the large crew, and was helped to safety by Markos. Because of his honesty and their common dislike of Templars, Altaïr entrusted him with Maria's care, and asked him to look after her.

During his investigations, Altaïr learned that "the Bull" – his target – had posted large bounties, not only for him, but for Maria as well. Fearing for her safety, he rushed back to the harbor, where he found her and Markos being attacked by Templars. After rescuing them, Altaïr brought them to the Kyrenia safehouse.

Maria, her wrists once again bound, mocked Altaïr's crude plan for killing "the Bull" – whom she knew as Moloch – and inadvertently ended up giving away his position in Kantara Castle. By the time Altaïr returned from killing him, Maria had already been taken away by Templar agents, who had raided the safe house in his absence.

Maria was given to Moloch's son Shalim; separated from the resistance members, and from Altaïr's attempts to rescue her.

Maria escaped from Shalim, and headed to Saint Hilarion Castle disguised as a consort, sneaking in via palanquin. On her arrival, she confronted Shahar in his private room, and demanded to know about the Templars' plan for the Apple of Eden. Shahar stated that the Templars would achieve order by any means necessary, even if that "order" became synonymous with enslavement.

Shahar grabbed her by her wrists, as if to subdue her, but was interrupted when Altaïr burst in upon them, on his search for Shalim. Maria killed his two pursuers as if by impulse, but refused to fight beside him further, and fled.

How Maria traveled from Kyrenia back to Limassol is unknown. Altaïr traveled back alone, and carried on without her for a short time. However, following his use of the Apple of Eden to quiet the rioting townspeople, it was Maria who killed the mysterious Templar agent intent on taking the Apple by stabbing him in the back.

Although she remained adamantly distrusting of the righteousness of his motives, Maria led Altaïr to the Templar Archive hidden under Limassol Castle. There, she engaged Armand Bouchart in combat. However, Armand was an extremely skilled fighter, and hurled Maria back, knocking her unconscious.

After Altaïr defeated Armand, he and Maria managed to flee the Archive. She then told him that she no longer wished to be part of the Templars, or return to England, and instead intended to go somewhere in the East. However, she ultimately decided to travel with him to Masyaf.

A few months after their marriage, their first son Darim was born. Two years later, Maria gave birth to their second son, Sef.
Around 1217, Maria, Altaïr and Darim started a journey to Mongolia to assassinate Genghis Khan, whose marching army was preventing the Assassin Order from expanding their influence; leaving Malik Al-Sayf to take care of the Order. Once there, the family joined with the Assassin Qulan Gal. While the men made plans to take Khan down, Maria stayed on the sidelines and tended to Altaïr after he had returned wounded from the Mongol camp.

After Darim, aided by Qulan Gal, successfully killed Genghis Khan in 1227, the family headed back home to Masyaf, only to find it completely different from when they had left.
Maria, Altaïr and Darim were greeted by Swami upon their return. He informed them that their son Sef had left for Alamut, that Malik was imprisoned, and that a council had been formed to take control over the Order; with Abbas Sofian at its head. At this, Darim left for Alamut to retrieve his brother. Opposed to what they had expected, Maria and Altaïr were pointed to a residence in the west side of the castle, instead of to the Master's tower.

The next day, the two went to meet the council, seeing that it was made up of the most weak-minded Assassins in the Order. Altaïr gave the council a summary of their journey, and Abbas revealed that Malik had been imprisoned for the murder of their son Sef. Doubting the story's credibility, Altaïr left to free Malik from the fortress' prison and bring him back to their residence.

At an early age, Maria was a bit of a dreamer, thinking about leaving England to find honor and glory in the Holy Land.
She was a very determined person with a great passion to accomplish more within the Templar ranks. During her first encounter with him, Maria presented a straightforward, merciless style of command with Altaïr, and acted arrogant and confident of Robert's cause.

After the events in Cyprus, Maria's harsh and stubborn attitude around Altaïr instead became more open and civil. Over time, she soon chose to side with him and the Assassins.

She also presented a provocative side, as shown when she led Altaïr up a tower in Acre, where she beckoned him to kiss and eventually make love with her.
Vlad III Dracula, also known as Vlad III the Impaler (Romanian: Vlad Ţepeş), was a Voievod of Wallachia, ruling at 1448 but was thwarted and only started again between 1456 and 1462.
Biography
In 1462, the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II was driven back by Vlad III Dracula near Bucharest. However, the latter was betrayed and imprisoned by the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus. This caused outrage among many influential Hungarian figures and Western admirers of Vlad's success in the battle against the Ottoman Empire (and his early recognition of the threat it posed), including high-ranking members of the Vatican and the remnants of the Byzantine nobility. Because of this, Matthias granted him the status of distinguished prisoner.

Eventually, Dracula was freed in late 1475 and was sent with an army of Hungarian and Serbian soldiers to recover Bosnia from the Ottomans. He defeated the Ottoman Forces and he gained his first victory against the Ottoman Empire. Upon this victory, the Ottoman forces entered Bucharest in 1476 under the command of Mehmed II. During a fierce battle, Vlad was killed by Ishak Pasha and, according to some sources, his head and ceremonial dagger were sent to Constantinople to discourage the other rebellions.

Legacy
In 1511, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze went on a quest to find Vlad the Impaler's blade hidden in his prison, which was rumored to be a weapon that could defeat any foe.

His genetic memories were later used by the Templar company Abstergo Industries in 2012 to train Animus subjects, under the title of the Count.
Trivia
* In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Vlad the Impaler Coins are used as trade items.
* According to legend, some people believed that Vlad was a vampire because of his white skin and the fact that he barely came outside. This folklore and his ruthless acts during his reign became the inspiration for the famous vampiric character "Dracula".
* He was given the nickname "The Impaler" because of the way he would torture his victims. He would put lard or some type of lubricant on a large wooden spike and put them at the top of it with it between their legs and eventually they would be impaled, thus the nickname. The spikes were formed in a large circle as a barricade around his fortresses, also used to threaten any who oppose him.
Haras (died 1189) was an undercover Templar spy in the Assassin Order.

Biography
In 1189, Haras betrayed the Assassin Order, and led an army of Templars to attack the Assassins' fortress of Masyaf. He alerted the nearby Templar army and ordered the attack. Many Assassins were killed in the defence, and Al Mualim was captured. The Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad tried to kill Haras, but he threatened him with the death of Al Mualim. Haras then promptly returned to the courtyard, and killed an Assassin hostage called Vahid Ahmedi with his crossbow. However, Altaïr had scaled the fortress walls, and killed Haras with his sword. As Haras died, he tried to convince Altaïr that his creed was false, but to no avail. He then fell forward, and died.

In 2012, his genetic memories were used by Abstergo Industries under the name of the Crusader for their Animus subjects.

Last words
*Haras: You put too much faith in the hearts of men, Altaïr. The Templars know the truth. Humans are weak, base and petty.
*Altaïr: No, our creed is evidence to the contrary.
*Haras: *scoffs* Perhaps I am not wise enough to understand, but I suspect the opposite, that I am too wise to believe such rubbish.
Vali cel Tradat was a Wallachian noble, former Assassin and member of the Templar Order. Having served the Assassin Order for a decade, Vali left the Assassins after they made a truce with the Ottomans; the same people who had humiliated his people, conquered Wallachia, and murdered his role model Vlad Ţepeş. Feeling betrayed, he joined the Templars, striving to get revenge against the Assassins and Ottomans.

Biography
Life as an Assassin
Born as a noble in Wallachia, Vali joined the Assassins in his early twenties. Remaining loyal to the Creed for almost a decade until the day that the Assassins had called a truce with the Ottoman Sultan, Bayezid II. Believing that truth was traitorous to his people, since the Ottoman's had shamed them, conquered their homeland and even murdered Vlad Tepes, Vali left the order to join the Templars and have revenge on not only the Ottomans, but the Assassins also. Vali was soon deemed to be one of their most experienced and feared killers.
Death
Being an experienced killer for the Templars, Vali had taken the lives of many Assassins but an Apprentice caught onto his actions and spoke to the Mentor, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Arriving at a small area, using his Eagle Sense, Ezio spotted several of Vali's killings. Charging through the rooftops, Vali was spotted and sprinted, trying to escape from Ezio's grasp. Eventually calling out, the guards aided the Sentinel and allowed him to escape.

Vali managed to create a diversion to try to infiltrate the main headquarters of the Assassins by capturing two Apprentices, distracting Ezio from his true ambition. After freeing the captives, Vali ordered the Byzantines to attack the Galata den, and the fight ended with many losses on both sides. Soon, he and Ezio had a brief encounter before Vali tried to flee but was stopped in his tracks by an Apprentice who emerged from the rooftops and leapt down to assassinate him. Before he passed, Vali explained his actions, why he betrayed the order, claiming that he could not believe in a cause that had betrayed him. After he told the two Assassins, he passed.
The assassination of John F. Kennedy, the thirty-fifth President of the United States, took place on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, at 12:30 PM Central Standard Time (18:30 UTC) in Dealey Plaza. The shooter was Lee Harvey Oswald, who was himself killed by Jack Ruby while being transported by authorities. President Kennedy was murdered at the height of the Cold War and one year after the Cuban Missile Crisis which almost brought the world to a nuclear war.

Oswald himself was Templar-trained, and Abraham Zapruder, who would film the event on camera, would perform the assassination were Oswald unable to do so. William Greer, a U.S. Secret Service agent, drove Kennedy's vehicle and would slow the vehicle down if Kennedy wouldn't be killed with one shot. An image would be created to divert the crowd's attention should more time be needed.
