► ► ► ► ► Please be careful with what you say outside of spoiler tags. ◄ ◄ ◄ ◄ ◄

-->Lucy Stillman is a research assistant for Dr. Warren Vidic. She has been working for Abstergo Industries for three years, focusing on the Animus project. Dr. Warren Vidic considered her as a invaluable asset for Abstergo for her intelligence and knowledge in cognitive neuro-science and values her highly, although he does not express it.

Personality
In contrast with her boss Warren Vidic's personality, Lucy is an optimistic and cheerful woman with bright personality. She always has some encouraging words and sympathy towards Desmond Miles, though it obviously irritates him sometimes. At times when Warren Vidic attemps to force Desmond to go deeper to the Animus memory, Lucy will stop him from going and plead Vidic to let Desmond to rest, showing her caring personality .

Biography
Spoiler
As the game progresses, Desmond learns more and more about Lucy. He does this in two ways.

Conversations
Throughout the game, Desmond can speak to Lucy and get to know her better at the end of each memory segment, after Dr. Vidic leaves the lab. As Desmond talks to Lucy, she starts to tell him a bit about her past. Notice, however, that any statements she makes may be untrue.

Lucy explains that during her college career she was ostracized for her scientific beliefs and theories. The criticism continued after college- no scientific organization would employ her. Desperate, she was almost ready to give up science altogether. Then she received a call from Dr. Vidic, who told her he agreed with her theories and offered her the chance to work for Abstergo and to prove her theories to be true. The beliefs she was criticized for may have regarded genetic memory. Lucy is portrayed in the game to be knowledgeable about the Animus, so it's likely that, because of her feelings on genetic memory, Vidic contacted her so she could contribute to the creation of the Animus.

Lucy also reveals to Desmond that he is not the only person Abstergo is detaining- she too is a captive. She then tells him a story about how a while back, Abstergo decided to silence her to keep her from speaking about the Animus, but before her assailants could commit her murder, they were ordered to stop by Dr. Warren Vidic. She claims that he saved her life that day, and she tells Desmond not to judge Dr. Vidic so harshly, as he is under a lot of pressure. Whether this story is true or not is unknown. It is possible Lucy is feeding Desmond false information in an attempt to get him to trust her, but it could also very well be taken at face value.

Emails
At various points in the game you can gain access to Lucy's computer and read her emails. Desmond comes upon the codes to Lucy's emails when finds door codes to the main room in his wardrobe, and Lucy's access pen, which was left on the Animus. It can be speculated that she planted them to give him a better idea of what was going on with Abstergo. However, this is not certain. The codes may have been left there by a previous subject, and the pen left by mistake.

From the messages, you definitely get the idea that she is telling the truth, as she is obviously concerned for her own safety and is trying to find out more information about a previous Abstergo employee who died a while back. This employee is said to have "committed suicide" but the documents relating to the death are being held as classified and are not being released.

In one deleted email, there is a conversation in which Lucy tells another person that she has been delaying the doctor from finding the artefacts and asking for the other person to send a rescue. A strange reply appears to be an attachment, but has random capitalization of letters. When these capitalized letters are put together, they form, "WE WILL BE THERE SOON". Towards the end of the game, a gunfight is heard outside, and Vidic explains that present-day Assassins have come for Desmond. The hidden message was probably a reference to the attack. If so, it would mean Lucy is an assassin, which is also shown by her showing Desmond her left hand and symbolically pulling in her ring finger to have it appear like Altaïr's missing finger, and is spying on Abstergo Industries. At the end of the game, Desmond gains the ability to use Eagle Vision. When Desmond uses this on Lucy, she appears with a blue aura, confirming her to be a trustful ally.

The Side Story of Leila and Neumann
More spoilers...must include two figures from "bloody mural" here for openers:

<b>The Lorenz Attractor</b>

The Lorenz Attractor, which appears in the middle of the wall over Desmond's bed and is the central focus of the entire "mural" is emblematic of the "butterfly effect". The intricate interweaving of the lines which compose it are paths taken by a particle.

Subject 16 states in the triangle shaped message on the floor that he drained his own body to paint the figures on the floor and walls of the main room where the Animus is located. But had he also used his own blood to paint the wall mural in the sleeping room, he would have bled out - literally - before he finished his work. It is possible that it is Leila's blood used in the wall mural in the sleeping room, done <i>before</i> he painted the messages with his own blood in the Animus room - a murder/suicide.

Spending too long in the Animus is the issue causing it. This seems to be her main reason for concern about Desmond, although it's mentioned very briefly.

Was this Neumann that Vidic mentions in his email to Lucy about "dipping her quill in company ink". Leila operated the Animus before Lucy and probably talked to Subject 16 much as Lucy talks to Desmond (Subject 17) - Neumann's immediate successor. This all must have occurred shortly before Desmond was brought to Abstergo's Lab. Could it be that Leila fell in love with Neumann and was trying to help him and talk to him, and he killed her...then proceeded to paint the bedroom wall with her blood in his desperation and insanity?

Finally, who was Neumann? Strangely enough, a search on the name turns up someone of interest that is significant in relation to all of this. His name was John von Neumann, who died in 1957 (long ago enough for him to have a descendant). He was an Hungarian mathematician who "who made major contributions to a vast range of fields, including <b>set theory</b>, functional analysis, quantum mechanics...<b>continuous geometry</b>, economics and <b>game theory</b>.... He is generally regarded as one of the foremost mathematicians of the 20th century."
Wikipedia. We have the Mandlebrot Set - an example of set theory and the repeating overall patterns of history. It is also an example of continuous geometry - a fractal or holographic fragment of a larger whole that is identical to the smaller part. We also have the Lorenz Attractor, which is part of Chaos Theory:

In mathematics, chaos theory describes the behavior of certain dynamical systems – that is, systems whose states evolve with time – that may exhibit dynamics that are highly sensitive to initial conditions (popularly referred to as <b>the butterfly effect</b>). As a result of this sensitivity, which manifests itself as an exponential growth of perturbations in the initial conditions, the behavior of chaotic systems appears to be random. This happens even though these systems are deterministic, meaning that their future dynamics are fully defined by their initial conditions, with no random elements involved. This behavior is known as deterministic chaos, or simply chaos. Wikipedia.

<b>Assassins Creed</b> is most certainly a "deterministic" game, in that there can be only one outcome no matter what you do or when you do it. There are probably millions of permutations of activities within it. (This is true of any game worth it's salt!) And last, but not least, Mr. Neumann was one of the major developers of <b>game theory</b>.
Sibrand is one of the nine Al Mualim orders Altair to assassinate. He is found in the Middle District of Acre.

Description
Sibrand is the newly appointed Master of the Knights Teutonic, currently in charge of the port area of the middle district within the city of Acre. His experiences with the Templars and the crusades have destroyed his belief in God, and as such he has become greatly fearful of death, knowing that life is all he has. He explains this belief to Altair as he dies and seems certain, much as Abstergo is in the future, that there is no God of any kind.

Sibrand's experiences, along with his fellow brethrens public and continuous assassinations, have made him extremely paranoid and he sees enemies everywhere, which has lead to him doubling all the patrols in the Middle District (even threatening to withdraw the entire Teutonic Order from the field to defend him) as well as cowering deep within the docks out of fear that the assassins approach from anywhere, except surrounded by water, or so he thinks. He is quick to deal with supposed "traitors". At the time of his death in which Altair is sent to assassinate Sibrand, he is extremely fearful of the Assassins and distrustful of anyone wearing similar robes or attire of any kind, especially Scholars. When sneaking up to his boat, it is easy to hear him screaming "Fine! None of you will lift a hand in defense of your master, I'll take care of this heathen <i>myself!</i>"

Sibrand carries a large bow and wears a great helm with horns in battle.

Death
Altair attends a disturbance within the docks as one with the crowd, and in turn discovers that Sibrand has been driven mad by the continued success of Altairs work. As the stories of the Assassins sweep through the land. Sibrand has accused a scholar of being an assassin, poisoned by fear. After further accusations he kills the innocent man. After positioning himself defensively on a ship he intends to sail on. Unknowingly setting the stage for a difficult but not impossible assassination strike on his life. Altair maneuvers above the water safely while slowly approaching his intended target unnoticed. Finally reaching the side of the ship Altair waits as Sibrand begins to shout, at the exact moment an opening appears, the silent and cunning assassin positions himself onto the ledge. Seeing Sibrands attention turned he focuses and suddenly leaps towards the Teutonic Knight, Altairs leading leg slams into Sibrands chest knocking him to the ground. Altair then strikes swiftly by inserting his Hidden Blade precisely into his targets throat, killing him upon entry.

With his dying words, Sibrand explains his part in the Templars' scheme: he had comandeered every ship in Acre with the intent of establishing a blockade around the port, thus preventing Richard and other European monarchs from sending more troops to the Holy Land, thus making it easier for the Templars to destroy their enemies there and seize control of the kingdom.

Sibrands death marks the seventh in recent Major-Public Figure asasinations and is recorded in virtual history as the third in Acre.

Trivia
*Sibrand was a real-life leader of the Teutonic Knights: Meister (master) Sibrand. One of the first Teutonic Knights leaders, he was appointed around 1190.
*An in-game glitch can be found during Sibrand's assassination. To perform it, Sibrand must not be aware of your presence. When he is randomly shooting arrows on the front of his ship, approach and throw him into the sides of the boat. Sibrand will fall off his ship and into the water. You will then fail the mission (The game says that he has escaped). One of the reasons of failure for this mission is that his blood is required to complete the assassination and Altair cannot swim in-game. Other reasons are that he must die from a Hidden Blade strike or that Sibrand could swim (no proof as of yet and unlikely).

One of the nine people Al Mualim wants Altair to assassinate, Talal is a slave trader in the city of Jerusalem, located within its rich district.

Description
Talal is one of Jerusalem's most feared criminals. He operates a large slave ring, which is for some reason easily ignored by the city's guards, however it can be reasoned that, as Talal is in secret a Templar and thus allied with Majd Addin, who in turn would order the guards to ignor Talal's works. He captures the mad and the diseased, and then sells them off as slaves, transporting them to Acre (presumably for Garnier de Naplouse to deal with them). He also has a large band of henchmen thugs who follow his commands.

Talal is quick-witted, agile, and an expert marksman. He can outrun most men with ease, and is very proud of his own acrobatic prowess. He also finds humor in many things, and is especially fond of taunting his enemies before killing them.

Death
Talal is publicly assassinated at the hands of Altair, after the assassin tracked his movements within the rich district before discovering him within his slave warehouse and then killed him during an agile chase through the streets of Jerusalem. As Talal prepared an arrow for his bow Altair quickly closes the gap between himself and his intended political target. As the white robed assassin rapidly approached him Talal made a hasty run for it but was quickly stopped due to the Hidden Blade being forcefully introduced to one of his vital spots. With his dying words, Talal remarked the people he was selling were the most unfortunate people in Jerusalem, and that where they were being sent, they would be better off. Talals death marks the third recent public figure assassination and the first within Jerusalem.

Trivia
Talal was also featured in the E3 2007 gameplay trailer, where Altair infiltrated the slave trader's den, before chasing and killing Talal.

He captures the mad and the diseased, and then sells them off as slaves.

William of Montferrat is the fifth target ordered by Al Mualim for Altaïr to assassinate. He is found in the rich district of Acre.

Description
William serves King Richard as Regent Lord of Acre, and spends most of his time training and preparing his men for the "coming war". However, few of his soldiers have actually been sent to join Richard at Arsuf, leading people to wonder what "war" he's referring to. It is implied that he was appointed by Richard to put pressure on his son Conrad who has clashed with the King.

William always demands the best from his men, and is quick to point out flaws, while being reluctant to give praise. He is often shouting, and rarely sounds happy. He is also set in the belief that might makes right, and spends countless hours training his men.

The Assassins originally believed that William planned to murder Richard and turn Acre over to Conrad, but to Altair's shock, William denounced his son with surprisingly vehment hatred, sneering "My son is an arse, barely fit to lead his host let alone a kingdom." His true purpose was apparently to turn the city over to the Templars, and for this reason he had been taking food from the people, with the aim of insuring it would be rationed properly during "the lean times" (presumably he expected resistance to the Templar's plans), and by training and disciplining his men and people unmercifully, he hoped to instil in them the value of discipline and order, to prepare for the new world.

Death
William of Montferrat was assassinated within his personal quarters located in the Kings Citadel, shortly after a visit from King Richard of England, giving Altaïr the opportunity he needed to get close enough to kill him. The assassin managed to stealthily penetrate into the lord's citadel fortress, and quickly put an end to his life. After observing William's and Richard's heated discussion safely under the cloak of the noble crowd, Altaïr pierced the fortress in search of his assassination target. He finally came to a cornered keep, a small fortress within a fortress. Altaïr listened as William belittled his men with razor barbed insults intended on encouraging them for better performance and stronger sense of duty. Silently approaching and skillfully eliminating archers, Altaïr finally moved into position. Remaining highly in tune with the surrounding environment, Altaïr patiently watched and waited for William to perfectly position himself for his own death. As William continued his speech and slowly paced toward the scaffold, Altaïr quickly dropped onto it, focused on his target, and before anyone even began to take notice of the impending danger leaped towards William, his Hidden Blade fully extended. Even as William took notice of the descending assassin it was too late, for by the time he realized it he was already being forced onto his back, and his throat was punctured severely by the assassin's steel Hidden Blade. Williams public assassination is recorded as the fifth major public figure to be publicly assassinated by Altaïr, and his death is the second within Acre.

Inspiration
He is based off the real life William V, Marquess of Montferrat, who died in 1191.

Abu'l Nuqoud is one of the nine people Al Mualim wants Altaïr to assassinate. He is found in the city of Damascus, in its rich district

Description
Abu'l Nuqoud is a very large, corpulent, and wealthy man. He is a lavished merchant king of the city of Damascus. He decorates his home with the finest decor, and feasts upon only the finest of foods. The name "Abu'l Nuqoud" means the man who has a lot of money (literally the father (abu) of money (nuqoud)).

However, Abu'l has great disdain for the poor citizens of the city. He sees them as nothing more than a source of all the crime, disease, and other poor things in the world. With that, he takes perverse pleasure from seeing them die painful deaths. He is also incredibly self centered, and loves nothing more than to show off his generosity to the people of Damascus.

Death
As Altaïr seeks out Abul Nuqouds' life, the merchant king decides to throw a lavish party at his palace for the nobility of Damascus (paid for with money stolen from the city's treasuries). After the guests have settled down, Abu'l proposes a toast to their generosity, then proceeds to lambaste them for their hatred and hypocrisy in supporting Saladin and his war campaign. It is revealed (while Altaïr combed the city tracking his target) that he had poisoned the wine to get revenge on the people who tormented him with their cruel words and bigotry, and he orders his men to kill anyone who tries to escape from the party.

As the guests panicked and attempted to save themselves, Altaïr made his way to the Merchant King, thinking of a way to strike him down, first by developing a plan to eliminate the two bodyguards. Succeeding in this, Altaïr assures himself that Abu'l has not taken notice to the impending danger around him given off from Altaïr's presence and concrete intent as he constantly and slowly paced back and forth Altaïr primed his Hidden Blade. Just as the Merchant King for the last time in his life turned and walked, Altaïr suddenly sprung towards him sprinting full speed and instinctively knowing when in range, Altaïr extends his Hidden Blade into the flesh and most likely vital organ of Abu'l ultimately, catching him and ending his existence in the world.

In his dying speech, Abu'l says that he did not join up with the Templars for revenge, but to create a new, better world instead of pretending to follow a god who called him an abomination. This hints that Abu'l is homosexual, a possible reason for his resentment of the Upper Classes as, while his position would keep him from being directly challenged, the upper classes would mock and judge him about his sexuality. He also challenges Altair's willingness to strike down those Al Mualim ordered him to, remarking that Altair doubts the worthiness of his cause.

Trivia
* He runs suprisingly fast if he sees you coming.
* He is the only target without any weapon upon him. He will turn to fight you if he makes it to a guard tower and recieves a sword, however.
* When looking at his face closely, you can see him suffering from severe acne.
}}
Ezio Auditore di Firenze is to be the protagonist of Assassin's Creed II. Ezio is a young Florentian nobleman-turned-assassin in the year 1486. An article from GameInformer states that he is a descendant of Altaïr, and ancestor of Desmond. An interview with the game's creative director, Patrice Desilets, confirms that the Ezio becomes an assassin to seek his vengeance on those that killed his family (it is possible that they are Templars). Ezio is also announced to be allied with the famous inventor/artist Leonardo da Vinci and the writer/philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli.

Equipment
It has been announced that Ezio will be able to use a variety of weapons including two hidden blades and some enemy weapons such as an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, two different sword types, and a halberd. Ezio will be able to use Da Vinci's flying machine in some parts of the game, gaining altitude from fires set throughout the city by his allies. In addition to the hidden blades, Ezio will have many upgrades by Da Vinci on his wrist device like a firearm of some sort (most likely an early wheel lock firearm) concealed near his left hidden blade, or a poison needle. Ezio is said to possess the ability to use Eagle Vision.

Trivia
* The Italian name 'Ezio' derives from the Greek word 'Aetos', which means "Eagle", similar to Altaïr whose name means "The Flying Eagle".
* Unlike Altaïr (who had his ring finger removed to make way for the Hidden Blade), Ezio has all ten fingers (as evidenced by the fact he wears a ring-either a signet or wedding ring- marked with the Assassin's symbol). This may be made possible by a newer Hidden Blade (created by da Vinci), placed further from the palm.
* Ezio uses a wheel lock firearm, a type of weapon that Europe didn't start developing until the very late 1400's and early 1500's, making this weapon most likely one of the very first firearms to appear in Europe, thus many people may not know what the weapon is in game. The earliest firearms were single shot and took time to reload, so will most likely be only used as a last resort weapon. Also note that Da Vinci created some of the first modern wheel lock pistols, so this could be a shortened version of one.

One of the nine people Al Mualim orders Altaïr to publicly assassinate. He dwells in the poor district of the city of Jerusalem.

Description
Majd Addin is Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn's Regent of Jerusalem, and demands that his citizens follow the law - his law. He issues many edicts regarding how people should conduct themselves, and anyone perceived to be breaking these laws - or as a direct threat to either the city or Majd Addin himself - is dealt with in a public "trial", where they are either framed or their so-called "crimes" exaggerated to the point that the crowd demands their deaths - which Majd Addin is only too happy to deliver personally.

Majd Addin is more than happy to admit that he enjoys controlling and taking the lives of others. He arbitrates and controls the citizens of Jerusalem through acts of strong fear and intimidation. All the more reason why a feather was issued on his head.

Death
Majd Addin was publicly assassinated by the silent assassin Altaïr. The assassin claimed his life during one of his public executions (as Majd Addin proceeded with lecturing the crowd feeding his killer ego). Altaïr silently observed his movements from the cover of the attending crowd. Then as Majd Addin began to berate his captive prisoners, Altaïr joined a group of scholars, aided greatly by the white robe he wore. The group started towards the stage, safely transporting and masking the assassin, stealthily moving past the attentive guards searching for any sign of Altaïr in the crowd. Upon reaching the stage Altaïr broke away from the scholars and watched. As Majd Addin continued the execution he maked a vital mistake by turning his back on the idle assassin. As Majd Addin addressed the crowd for the last time Altaïr sprinted towards him, leaped into the air and sank his Hidden Blade deep into the regent's neck. In his dying moments, he gave Altaïr explanations and reasons for his evil deeds, commenting that while he joined the Templars to help them take control of Jerusalem, in reality, he simply wanted the power and fear such a position granted. Majd Addin also sneered that Altair would have done the same in that position: however, Altair responds he had learned what became of those who raised themselves above others. When Majd Addind asked what this was, Altaïr stabbed him again through the neck with the Hidden Blade, and answering Addin's question as to what become of those like him...they die. Majd Addin's public assassination was the sixth recorded major public figure assassination by Altaïr and marks the second in the streets of Jerusalem.

Possible Model
Majd Addin (Glory of the Faith) may be very loosely based on a man named Bahā' ad-Dīn ibn Shaddād (splendor of the faith), who was close to Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb (Saladin) and wrote a biography of the great Saracen military leader and sultan. Bahā' ad-Dīn was a jurist and a scholar. Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn liked his writings so much that he befriended the man and made him the judge of his armies. Bahā' ad-Dīn did not ever proclaim himself the Regent of Jerusalem, however.

In one of Altaïr's investigations, it is revealed that Majd Addin was once the scribe of the emir. Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn is the Emir or Sultan at this time. Malik tells Altaïr that Majd Addin has "declared himself Regent in Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn's absence". However, when listening to the men during one of his eavesdropping investigations (the one man is the father of one of those to be executed), it becomes clear that the people are under the impression that Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn has appointed Majd Addin as Regent.

This is purely speculation, but as a scholar, Bahā' ad-Dīn was also a scribe or writer and did chronicle the life and times of Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn. The similar meaning of their names also adds to the possibility.
