Ezio Auditore Da Firenze, is a young member of the Florentine Nobility and the second son of Giovanni Auditore, an Assassin. He is ignorant to his father's true profession, and his hereditary duties. He has slight skills at playing chess, and he is "learning fast" according to his mother (though he lost against his older brother, Federico).

Ezio Auditore da Firenze's story begins moments after he exits the womb of his mother, Maria Auditore. Originally it seemed like Ezio was a stillborn, but after his father arrives the newborn begins to move his limbs and cry. Giovanni Auditore, his father, welcomes Ezio into the world and bestows his name upon him. We rejoin Ezio years later during a rousing pre-fight speech, addressing his friends. Ezio is holding one side of a bridge against Vieri Di Pazzi and his men, whom insult the House of Auditore, and Ezio's mother and father personally. Reprimanded gently by his elder brother, Federico and his father, Ezio becomes more involved with his family's affairs. He would then sleep with Cristina Vespucci that night. His father, Giovanni, and another man, Uberto Alberti are discussing secret matters that Ezio can't make sense of, but seem urgent. Eventually, guards raid Plazzo Auditore and arrest Giovanni, Federico, and Petruccio, leaving just Maria and Claudia at the home. Ezio delivers evidence that can prove his family's innocence to Uberto, who promises to defend them at the hearing. But it turns out Uberto is a traitor who destroyed the evidence and sentenced the three Auditore men to death. Swearing vengeance, Ezio has to hide his mother and sister and learn the ways of the Assassin. He is first taught stealth by Paola ofthe Courtesans, mainly in survival in the streets. later in the game Ezio is taught basic combat, by his uncle Mario, of the Mercenary faction. After assassinating Uberto, apparently a city official in charge of the law, Ezio has to balance his life between assassinations and protecting his sister and mother, whom refuses to speak after Ezio's father and brothers were taken. Now wanted in Florence, Ezio has to flee Firenze to Tuscany with his family to the Auditore villa. He meets up with Uncle Mario, whose mercenaries save his family from an attack by Vieri and his men. During all the years he is busy being an assassin, Rodrigo Borgia, the leader of the templars, starts to become aware of his movements, ans as a result tries to protect the remaining templars. However, this doesn't work and he is meet by Ezio.
Unlike Altaïr, he is a seducer, and easily blends with any social class. He comes from an affluent background and has many friends until a life-changing event, wherein he and his family are betrayed, victims of a conspiracy that takes his father's, elder brother's, and younger brother's lives. From that day on, Ezio and the rest of the Auditore family are considered criminals and traitors, and he flees Florence to the safety of his ancestral home in the Tuscan countryside. Ezio is helped not only by his uncle Mario, but also Leonardo da Vinci, who becomes his best friend and his personal engineer, as well as Niccolò Machiavelli, Lorenzo de' Medici and other famous Renaissance figures.

Ezio is able to use a variety of weapons including two hidden blades, allowing him to eliminate two enemies simultaneously. Combat is also available with the hidden blade, as when countering an enemy, Ezio will kill the enemy, whether by jabbing repeatedly in the chest/stomach, or stabbing in the head. He can also steal (and use) several enemy weapons such as axes, hammers, maces, spears, halberds and two different sword types (one- and two-handed). Ezio is also able to use Da Vinci's flying machine in some parts of the game, gaining altitude from fires set throughout the city by his allies. Ezio will gain many upgrades from Da Vinci on his wrist gauntlet like a wheel lock firearm concealed near his left hidden blade, and poison needle. Ezio possesses the ability to use Eagle Vision while moving. He can visit Blacksmiths to purchase weapons and armors including Helmschmeid and Metal Plate, or tailors to customize the colors of his clothing. After obtaining all six seals from the Assassin's Tombs, Ezio can open the locked gate to Altair's Armor, created by Altair after the defeat of Al-Mualim. It is easily the best armor available in the game, giving much more health and resistance points than any prior suit or piece, and it is unbreakable.

The Codex alludes to the possibility of the armor being forged from, or including parts of, the Golden Fleece - which could be a Piece of Eden. Considering that the armor is unbreakable, this is likely. The Sword of Altair can also be bought from the Monteriggioni blacksmith any time after the eighth scenario.

Trivia
* The Italian name 'Ezio' derives from the Greek word 'Aetos', which means "Eagle", similar to Altaïr whose name means "The Flying One".
* Unlike Altaïr (who had his ring finger removed to make way for the Hidden Blade), Ezio has all ten fingers. A modification to the Hidden Blade made sometime after Altaïr defeated Al-Mualim spared Ezio's ring finger. Leonardo Da Vinci deciphers a Codex Page written by Altaïr on which said modification was illustrated. Assassins have a mark burned into the ring finger as a sign of their lineage.
* It is stated in the Philosophical Codex that after Altaïr defeated Al-Mualim at the end of the first Assassin's Creed and became the leader, the Assassins were forced to realize the scope of their fight against the Templars, and had to abandon many of their traditions: like the removal of the ring finger or the ban on using poison, in order to survive.
* Ezio uses a wheel lock firearm, a type of weapon that Europe didn't start developing until the very late 1400's and early 1500's, making this weapon most likely one of the very first of its type to appear in Europe. Thus, many in-game citizens do not know what the weapon is. The earliest firearms were single shot and took time to reload, so will most likely be only used as a last resort weapon. Leonardo Da Vinci didn't create the Hidden Gun, but found instructions to make one from a Codex page, meaning Altaïr invented the Hidden Gun (though it was a miniaturization of the first guns invented by the Moroccans at the time) through knowledge gained from the Apple of Eden. Also note that Da Vinci created some of the first modern wheel lock pistols, so this could be a shortened version of one.
* Ezio's face in Assassin's Creed II seems to be a mixture of Desmond's (Francisco Randez) and Devon Bostick's from Lineage .
* It would appear as though Ezio is unaware that he is the decendant of Altaïr, despite learning about Altaïr and what kind of assassin he was, he never truly understands why he is such a sucessful assassin himself.
* Ezio is 40 years old in 1499 (15 years older than Altaïr's age in 1191); the same age as his father when his father died in 1476.
* If you move the camera to a certain angle that shows Ezio's face, you see that his face has barely aged, except for the beard, even if you played through 20 plus years of his life. His voice does deepen and mature, though.
* It seems his father's Hidden Blade has survived over 500 years since Desmond is seen using a similar looking one at the end of the game.
* The scar on Ezio's mouth may have been acquired after Vieri De Pazzi threw the rock at his face in the first memory sequence.
Lucy Stillman is an assassin and genetic-memory researcher.

Biography
Early Life
Lucy Stillman was a research assistant for Dr. Warren Vidic. She had been working for Abstergo Industries for three years, focusing on the Animus project. Dr. Warren Vidic considered her as a invaluable asset for Abstergo for her intelligence and knowledge in cognitive neuro-science and values her highly, although he does not express it.

As the game progresses, Desmond learns more and more about Lucy. He does this in two ways.

Assassin's Creed
Conversations
Throughout the game, Desmond can speak to Lucy and get to know her better at the end of each memory segment, after Dr. Vidic leaves the lab. As Desmond talks to Lucy, she starts to tell him a bit about her past.

Lucy explains that during her university career she was ostracised for her scientific beliefs and theories. The criticism continued after university- no scientific organization or academic institute would employ her. Desperate, she was almost ready to give up science altogether. Then she received a call from Dr. Vidic, who told her he agreed with her theories and offered her the chance to work for Abstergo and to prove her theories to be true. The beliefs she was criticized for may have regarded genetic memory. Lucy is portrayed in the game to be knowledgeable about the Animus, so it's likely that, because of her feelings on genetic memory, Vidic contacted her so she could contribute to the creation of the Animus.

Lucy also reveals to Desmond that he is not the only person Abstergo is detaining- she too is a captive. She then tells him a story about how a while back, Abstergo decided to silence her to keep her from speaking about the Animus, but before her assailants could commit her murder, they were ordered to stop by Dr. Warren Vidic. She claims that he saved her life that day, and she tells Desmond not to judge Dr. Vidic so harshly, as he is under a lot of pressure.

Emails
At various points in the game you can gain access to Lucy's computer and read her emails. Desmond comes upon the codes to Lucy's emails when he finds door codes to the main room in his wardrobe, and Lucy's access pen, which was left on the Animus. It can be speculated that she planted them to give him a better idea of what was going on with Abstergo. However, this is not certain. The codes may have been left there by a previous subject, and the pen left by mistake.

From the messages, you definitely get the idea that she is telling the truth, as she is obviously concerned for her own safety and is trying to find out more information about a previous Abstergo employee who died a while back. This employee is said to have "committed suicide" but the documents relating to the death are being held as classified and are not being released.

In one deleted email, there is a conversation in which Lucy tells another person that she has been delaying the doctor from finding the artifacts and asking for the other person to send a rescue. A strange reply appears to be an attachment, but has random capitalization of letters. When these capitalized letters are put together, they form, "WE WILL BE THERE SOON". Towards the end of the game, a gunfight is heard outside, and Vidic explains that present-day Assassins have come for Desmond. The hidden message was probably a reference to the attack. If so, it would mean Lucy is an assassin, which is also shown by her showing Desmond her left hand and symbolically pulling in her ring finger to have it appear like Altaïr's missing finger, and is spying on Abstergo Industries. The V-neck and collar of her blouse, if turned upside down, are also identical to the Assassin's logo. At the end of the game, Desmond gains the ability to use Eagle Vision. When Desmond uses this on Lucy, she appears with a blue aura, confirming her to be a trustful ally.

The achievement of "Conversationalist" can be unlocked in the 360 version of the game.

The Side Story of Leila and Neumann
More spoilers...must include two figures from "bloody mural" here for openers:

The Lorenz Attractor

The Lorenz Attractor, which appears in the middle of the wall over Desmond's bed and is the central focus of the entire "mural" is emblematic of the "bleeding effect". The intricate interweaving of the lines which compose it are paths taken by a particle.

Subject 16 states in the triangle shaped message on the floor that he drained his own body to paint the figures on the floor and walls of the main room where the Animus is located. But had he also used his own blood to paint the wall mural in the sleeping room, he would have bled out - literally - before he finished his work. It is possible that it is Leila's blood used in the wall mural in the sleeping room, done before he painted the messages with his own blood in the Animus room - a murder/suicide.

Spending too long in the Animus is the issue causing it. This seems to be her main reason for concern about Desmond, although it's mentioned very briefly.

Was this Neumann that Vidic mentions in his email to Lucy about "dipping her quill in company ink". Leila operated the Animus before Lucy and probably talked to Subject 16 much as Lucy talks to Desmond (Subject 17) - Neumann's immediate successor. This all must have occurred shortly before Desmond was brought to Abstergo's Lab. Could it be that Leila fell in love with Neumann and was trying to help him and talk to him, and he killed her...then proceeded to paint the bedroom wall with her blood in his desperation and insanity?

Finally, who was Neumann? Strangely enough, a search on the name turns up someone of interest that is significant in relation to all of this. His name was John von Neumann, who died in 1957 (long ago enough for him to have a descendant). He was an Hungarian mathematician who "who made major contributions to a vast range of fields, including set theory, functional analysis, quantum mechanics...continuous geometry, economics and game theory.... He is generally regarded as one of the foremost mathematicians of the 20th century."
Wikipedia. We have the Mandlebrot Set - an example of set theory and the repeating overall patterns of history. It is also an example of continuous geometry - a fractal or holographic fragment of a larger whole that is identical to the smaller part. We also have the Lorenz Attractor, which is part of Chaos Theory:

In mathematics, chaos theory describes the behavior of certain dynamical systems – that is, systems whose states evolve with time – that may exhibit dynamics that are highly sensitive to initial conditions (popularly referred to as the butterfly effect). As a result of this sensitivity, which manifests itself as an exponential growth of perturbations in the initial conditions, the behavior of chaotic systems appears to be random. This happens even though these systems are deterministic, meaning that their future dynamics are fully defined by their initial conditions, with no random elements involved. This behavior is known as deterministic chaos, or simply chaos.

Assassins Creed is most certainly a "deterministic" game, in that there can be only one outcome no matter what you do or when you do it. There are probably millions of permutations of activities within it. (This is true of any game worth its salt!) And last, but not least, Mr. Neumann was one of the major developers of game theory.

Assassin's Creed II
In Assassin's Creed II, Lucy flees along with Desmond from the Abstergo building to the Assassin's hideout , where she introduces Desmond to 2 of her assassin friends, Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane, and also tells Desmond about what happened to subject 16. When Abstergo invades their hideout, she gives Desmond a hidden blade, and they go to fight them. When she sees Vidic, he reainds her that she saved her, which is why she came to work for Abstergo. When the Abstergo guards are defeated, Lucy and the other escape their hideout, and head to another one in the mountains, while Desmond is preparing to enter the Animus again to continue searching for clus, while she studies the notes and tries to figure out what the "God" Minerva meant, and also tells Desmond that everthing she feared would happen, is starting to happen.

Personality
In contrast with her boss Warren Vidic's personality, Lucy is an optimistic and cheerful woman with bright personality. She always has some encouraging words and sympathy towards Desmond Miles, though it obviously irritates him sometimes. At times when Warren Vidic attempts to force Desmond to go deeper to the Animus memory, Lucy will stop him from going and plead Vidic to let Desmond to rest, showing her caring personality.

Trivia
* She is modeled after and voiced by Kristen Bell.
* Lucy's character model is drastically altered between games. In the first Assassin's Creed, she is dressed in appropriate business/work attire. In Assassin's Creed II, she has clothes which are much more casual, a slightly larger figure, and different facial structure; larger eyes and lipstick.
*Lucy and Desmond will most likely enter a relationship in Assassin's Creed III, given that Lucy cares very much about Desmond and (as seen in Assassin's Creed II) he apparently returns those feelings. For example, when Lucy panics because she is afraid that Abstergo will find them, Desmond tries very hard to comfort her.
Lucy Stillman is an assassin and genetic-memory researcher allied to Desmond Miles

Biography
Early Life
Lucy Stillman is a research assistant for Dr. Warren Vidic. She has been working for Abstergo Industries for three years, focusing on the Animus project.

In Assassin's Creed II, Lucy flees along with Desmond from the Abstergo building to the Assassin's hideout , where she introduces Desmond to 2 of her assassin friends, Shaun Hastings and Rebecca

Assassin's Creed II
Reprimanded gently by his elder brother, Frederico and his father, Ezio becomes more involved with his family's affairs. He would then sleep with Cristina Vespucci that night. His father, Giovanni, and another man, Uberto Alberti are discussing secret matters that Ezio can't make sense of, but seem urgent. Eventually, guards raid Plazzo Auditore and arrest Giovanni, Federico, and Petruccio. Ezio delivers evidence that can prove his family's innocence to Uberto, who promises to defend them at the hearing. But it turns out Alberti is a traitor who destroyed the evidence and sentenced the three Auditore men to death. Swearing vengeance, Ezio has to hide his mother and sister and learn the ways of the Assassin. He is first taught stealth by Paula of the Courtesans, and later combat, by his uncle Mario, of the Mercenary faction. He meets up with Uncle Mario, whose mercenaries save his family from an attack by Pazzi.
Ezio is a young Florentine nobleman who lives in during the 15th and 16th century. Unlike Altaïr, he is a seducer, and he easily blends with any social classes. He has an affluent lifestyle and many friends until a life-changing event, wherein he and his family are betrayed, victims of a conspiracy that takes his father's, elder brother's, and younger brother's lives. Forced to protect his mother and his sister Claudia, his remaining family, he becomes an Assassin, exacting vengeance on the conspirators who betrayed his family, his first victim the one who sentenced his father's and brothers' public execution. From that day on, Ezio and the rest of the Auditore family are considered criminals and traitors, and flees Florence to the safety of their ancestral home in the Tuscan countryside. Ezio is helped not only by his uncle Mario, but also Leonardo da Vinci, who becomes his best friend and his personal engineer, as well as Niccolò Machiavelli, Lorenzo de' Medici and other famous Renaissance figures.

Ezio will travel across Italy to various locations like Venice, Tuscany and Rome. In Assassin's Creed II, players will live approximately 23 years of his life from when he was 17 years old (a Novice), to 44 years old (a Master Assassin), or 1476 to 1499.

Equipment
Ezio is able to use a variety of weapons including two hidden blades, allowing him to eliminate two enemies simultaneously.

Combat is also available with the hidden blade, as when countering an enemy, Ezio will kill the enemy, whether by jabbing

repeatedly in the chest/stomach, or stabbing in the head. He can also steal (and use) several enemy weapons such as axes,

hammers, maces, spears, halberds and two different sword types (one- and two-handed). Ezio is also able to use Da Vinci's flying machine in some parts of the game, gaining altitude from fires set throughout the city by his allies. Ezio will gain many upgrades from Da Vinci on his wrist gauntlet like a wheel lock firearm concealed
near his left hidden blade, and poison needle. Ezio possesses the ability to use Eagle Vision while moving. He can visit Blacksmiths to purchase weapons and armors

including Helmschmeid and Metal Plate, or tailors to customize the colors of his clothing.

The Sword of Altair can also be bought from the Monterrogoni blacksmith any time after the eighth scenario.

Leonardo Da Vinci didn't create the Hidden Gun, but found instructions to make one from a Codex page, meaning Altaïr invented the Hidden Gun (and most likely the first firearm) through knowledge gained from the Apple of Eden.
*If you move the camera to a certain angle that shows Ezio's face, you see that his face has barely aged, except for the beard, even if you played through 20 plus years of his life.
