Subsequently, when Desmond searched for the second source at a mixed martial arts tournament in [[Brazil]], Cross killed its owner and proceeded to shoot after Desmond, with Abstergo guards also doing so. Until 1794, the artifact was stored within the [[Head of Saint Denis]], locked inside the [[Saint-Denis Temple]]. Constructed by the First Civilization, the artifact was capable of augmenting the Head of Saint Denis' power to project illusions and imbue weapons with mystical power.<ref name="DK"/>

In August 1794, Napoleon Bonaparte employed a group of tomb [[raiders]] led by [[Philippe Rose]] to find the Temple and the artifact stored within. [[Arno Dorian]] was able to open the temple ahead of the raiders and retrieve the Head of Saint Denis, using its power to repel the raiders and make his escape.<ref name="DK"/>

Unwilling to let the artifact fall into Napoleon's hands, Arno removed the Apple from the lantern and passed it to a member of the [[French Assassins|French Brotherhood]] of [[Assassins]], with instructions to bring it to [[Al Mualim (1794)|Al Mualim]] in [[Cairo]]. The next known owner of the Apple was Harry Houdini, a Hungarian-American magician and escapologist. He used the Apple to execute stunts that, even to this day, are considered impossible. While Houdini officially died from peritonitis from a ruptured appendix, [[Clay Kaczmarek]]'s [[Glyphs]] suggested that Houdini had been killed by Templar agents who wished to take possession of his Apple.<ref name="AC2 – Glyph3"/>

The Apple was later used in the [[Assassination of John F. Kennedy|assassination]] of [[John F. Kennedy]], to cause the "Phantom on the Hill" effect. This effect created the illusion of a second gunman on the grassy knoll of Dealey Plaza in Dallas, [[Texas]]. The goal of this illusion was to make it more difficult to persecute [[Lee Harvey Oswald]] – a Templar sleeper agent – later on, and to disguise the true intentions of the Templar-executed assassination from later investigation.<ref name="AC2 – Glyph9"/>

By 1778, Sivert had become an advisor to Parisian Grand Master François de la Serre, along with [[Chrétien Lafrenière]], [[Marie Lévesque]] and [[Louis-Michel le Peletier]]. Feeling underappreciated by de la Serre, Sivert joined the exiled Templar François-Thomas Germain's extremist faction of the Order along with Lévesque and le Peletier.<ref name="ACU"/>

Sivert was responsible for personally recruiting the [[Roi des Thunes]] and his enforcer [[Aloys la Touche]] into Germain's faction, after the former was denied membership by de la Serre. Germain tasked Sivert and the Roi des Thunes with killing de la Serre. On 5 May 1789, a party was held at the [[Palace of Versailles]] in honor of de la Serre's daughter [[Élise de la Serre|Élise]]' joining the Order.<ref name="ACU"/>

Sivert lured the Grand Master out to the palace gardens, where he assaulted him. However, de la Serre managed to fight off Sivert, wounding the latter's face and blinding his left eye. Nonetheless, the Roi des Thunes snuck up from behind and struck de la Serre with a poisoned pin crafted by Germain, killing him instantly. As the two Templars made their escape, Sivert called out to a guard and framed [[Arno Dorian]], who had witnessed the murder of his adoptive father.<ref name="ACU"/>

On 4 January 1791, Sivert met up with a fellow Templar named [[Arpinon]] to smuggle stolen goods from the [[Conciergerie]]. After Sivert's departure, Arpinon was killed by the Assassin [[Pierre Bellec]]. Fortunately for Sivert, he was not a target of the [[Assassins]].<ref name="ACU"/>

During the next day, Sivert was stalked by Arno, who had escaped imprisonment and joined the Assassins. Arno tailed the Templar to [[Notre-Dame]], where Sivert was supposed to meet one of his accomplices, [[Duchesneau]]. Arno assassinated Duchesneau and snuck into a confession booth, where Sivert was supposed to meet his accomplice.<ref name="ACU"/>

Posing as Duchesneau, Arno received information about he smuggling of the goods from the church, a more efficient source of obtaining funds than from the nobility. Once Sivert revealed all that he knew, Arno assassinated him with the [[Hidden Blade]], by stabbing him in the throat through the confessional window. Through Sivert's memories, Arno learned of the Roi des Thunes' involvement in de la Serre's murder.<ref name="ACU"/>

Arno also claimed his round axe as a trophy
