The Palazzo Auditore was a prominent family home in central Florence during time of the Italian Renaissance; the home to the Auditore family of bankers and Assassins, the building served as the centre of the local market, with the family emblem emblazoned across it, and the adjacent streets.

In 1476, the building was raided by Florentine city guards, who arrested Giovanni, Federico and Petruccio Auditore on trumped-up charges of treason. When Ezio Auditore returned home, he found the house ransacked and his mother and sister hiding away. After this event, the remaining Auditore left the Palazzo, moving into the Villa Auditore in Monteriggioni. During this time, the Palazzo was guarded by a contingent of city archers positioned on the roof.

Years later, during the Bonfire of the Vanities in 1498, Ezio returned to the Palazzo once again, and was greeted with a ghostly vision of his family before the execution.
Trivia
*It is unknown if anyone lived in the palazzo over the 23 years since the Auditore execution
Tailors are merchants who upgrade Ezio's pouches, allowing him to carry more Medicine, Poison and Throwing Knives. They can also dye Ezio's clothes with various colors specific to the city you are in.

Pouch
Upgrading your Pouches increases Ezio's carrying capacity of a certain item by 5. It is required to upgrade to a lower priced upgrade in order to access the higher priced ones, this however, is not true for the Medicine Pouch. You can purchase the Large Pouch for 6000 florins and have your capacity upgraded to 15 without purchasing the Medium Pouch for 3000, a way to save some florins.
Dye Clothes
Dye Colors available change depending on what region the Tailor is located in. You can get an achievement "Perfect Harmony" by dyeing Ezio's clothes with Wetland Ebony and Wetland Ivory. Dye prices in Monteriggioni change depending on how well you've renovated the Tailor's shop.
Trivia
*Altaïr's Armor and the Altaïr UPlay skin are unaffected by dyes.
*Tinting your clothes with the colors Wetland Ebony and Wetland Ivory gives you the achievement/trophy "Perfect Harmony". Both dye options are available in Forlì.
*Tailors are often quite offensive to Ezio if he doesn't buy anything, saying things like "awwww, poorly dressed a little while longer!"

Don't slay the messenger, good lord. Have my pouch instead.

Borgia Messengers, also known as Borgia Couriers, appear in the game Assassin's Creed II and in the short film Assassin's Creed: Lineage. Upon spotting Ezio, the messengers take flight, performing many free-run actions and acrobatic stunts, such as climbing walls and swinging from posts. If Ezio manages to catch up to one, he can tackle him or simply throw a Throwing Knife at him for a considerable amount of florins, with about 1,500 florins per messenger. However, if Ezio kills one, his notoriety will automatically increase by 50%; though he can still get the florins if he loots the body. If caught, the messenger begs for his life. After being attacked or left alone for a few moments, the messenger will resume his free-running.

Presumably, the messengers carry important information or funds for Rodrigo Borgia, as they are called Borgia Messengers. They may also be carrying payment to or from some official or ally, explaining the 1,500 florins in their possession.

Interestingly, Archers begin chasing the messenger as well if he climbs onto a rooftop in his flight. This is rather ironic, as messengers often call to the guards for help during the chase. It has also been shown that you can trip them, or throw them off buildings so that they fall to their death, without being penalized for it.

Unlike Pickpockets, who have a red icon, Borgia Messengers are invisible on your map; although you can often find them at city entrances, and they are pointed out by a silver chevron.
For some reason, the messengers often move rather slowly when on flat ground directly after a free-run up the side of a building. They can easily be taken down by a well-aimed throwing knife during these periods.

Trivia
*Intercepting a messenger gains you the Achievement/Trophy "Mailman."
*Perotto Calderon was a Borgia Messenger, but was also secretly an Assassin.
*If you are blended, messengers can't see you, and thus will not run away.
*Because Rodrigo Borgia died in 1503, you often get 1,503 florins from a borgia courier
