The '''Rome Assassins Guild''' was formed in 1500, and was ultimately responsible for the [[Rise of the Brotherhood|downfall]] of the [[House of Borgia|Borgia]] tyranny in Rome.

==History==
===Formation===
The guild was formed in 1500 by [[Niccolò Machiavelli]], who had moved to [[Rome]] to directly confront the [[Templars]] in their headquarters. Machiavelli got in contact with [[Fabio Orsini]], who lent an unused storeroom on [[Tiber Island]] to him, which became the guild's location. Soon after its formation, [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]] moved to Rome as well, after his hometown of [[Monteriggioni]] was [[Fall of Monteriggioni|ambushed]] by the Borgia; the leading body of the Templars.

===Fight against the Borgia===
Successfully forming a Guild, Ezio Auditore established contact with the Roman Underground (the [[Courtesan]]s, [[Thieves]] and [[Mercenaries]]) and restored each faction, successfully providing the Guild with powerful allies and resources.

In 1501, however, Ezio concluded the Guild must expand in numbers and thus began recruiting several civilians being bullied by the Borgia and training them as [[Apprentices]] to eventually become Assassins themselves. Sending the recruits across Europe, they completed various assignments, directly helping the Guilds in other European countries and forming one in [[Constantinople]] after many failed attempts in the past.

By 1503 the Roman Assassin Guild had infiltrated the Borgia's ranks, gained several powerful allies, and resources. In addition to killing several key generals and right-hand men of [[Cesare Borgia]], Ezio, now [[Grand Master of the Assassin's Order|the Mentor]], intended to assassinate both Cesare and [[Rodrigo Borgia]]. In the aftermath, Rodrigo died by Cesare's hand and the Assassins had successfully retrieved [[The Apple of Eden|the Apple of Eden]]. In the following months, the Roman Guild constantly worked on weakening Cesare's remaining supporters until his eventual arrest.

Ending the Borgia tyranny in Rome, the Guild continued its activities in Rome and throughout Europe aswell.

[[Domenico Auditore]] was the first Assassin to come to [[Monteriggioni]] and completely rebuild the town, vastly improving its wealth, and build the [[Villa Auditore]] at its center. The Villa eventually became the base of operations for the Assassins, and the Auditore became the ruling body of the Assassin Order.<ref name="AC2">''[[Assassin's Creed II]]''</ref>

By 1454, the guild and town were kept in shape by [[Mario Auditore]],<ref name="Project Legacy">''[[Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy]]''</ref> though by 1476 he had allowed them to become run-down. That same year, Mario's nephew [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze|Ezio]] moved into the town, and while travelling he collected money to restore the entire town to its former glory.<ref name="AC2"/>

Fabio Orsini was born in 1476 or 1477, the son of Paolo Orsini. He was trained in the art of battle at an early age, already participating in a battle to help the Sienese at Montepulciano.<ref name="Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" />

===Affiliations with the Borgia===
Around three years after the battle at Montepulciano, he joined his cousin [[Bartolomeo d'Alviano]] in a battle against the Savelli family. Following the battle, he married Jeronima Borgia, who was the cousin of Papal Commander [[Cesare Borgia]]. He supported his in-law family for some time, until he freed an imprisoned friend from the Tor di Nona. He had to continue serving the [[Borgia]] against his will, however, as Cesare managed to bring the Orsini family to their knees.<ref name="Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" />

===Later life===
In 1500, Fabio lended an [[Tiber Island|old storehouse]] to the [[Assassins|Assassin Order]], hoping that it would aid them in their war against the Borgia. He was also aware of the fact that his cousin Bartolomeo was amongst their numbers, as he had heard many stories about Bartolomeo's fellow Assassin [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]].<ref name="Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" />

Later, Fabio attacked [[Micheletto Corella]]'s army after Cesare had Fabio's father Paolo killed. He was unable to defeat Micheletto however and lost his status. He then became an outlaw, raiding the countryside, and a warrant for his arrest was placed on him by [[Rodrigo Borgia|Pope Alexander VI]].<ref name="Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" />

After the death of Pope Alexander VI and his son Cesare became disfavored, Fabio entered [[wikipedia:Pope Julius II|Pope Julius II]]'s service. He led the Papal armies to arrest Cesare for murder, betrayal and incest.<ref name="Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" />

In late 1503, he participated in the battle of Garigliano alongside Bartolomeo. However, Fabio died in 1504 of a head wound he received during the battle.<ref name="Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" />
