The Truth refers to a video hidden in the Animus by Subject 16, with the intent to enlighten and possibly warn his successor in the Animus project.

Its 20 pieces could be unlocked by solving the puzzles hidden behind the twenty Glyphs scattered throughout the Animus' projection of Renaissance Italy.

The Truth
In the video, Adam and Eve were dressed in skin-colored or translucent bodysuits, making them appear as if they were naked, and were seen running through an open area, followed by something.

The scenery was a mixture of flora, a reflective blue material that resembled glass, and a white surface that sounded like stone. The garden was decorated in a futuristic style, contrary to the expected Biblical setting. Moving through a circular automatic door, Adam and Eve used free-running to scale a large, futuristic building.

While they were climbing up the building, they stopped momentarily at a large window, through which a silhouette of a humanoid figure could be seen holding a Piece of Eden, along with several human slaves. These workers appeared to be in an environment similar to that of a metal refinery, with one slave in the foreground clearly using a hammer to shape a metal object.

Adam and Eve continued climbing until they reached the roof of the building, with other futuristic buildings visible surrounding them. Further in the background, a mountain was clearly visible, while there was little other elevation in land elsewhere. The terrain was lush, and a large forest's boundaries were visible.

Eve could then be seen holding a Piece of Eden before saying "Adam, I have it!" Adam then called out to Eve by name, as both turned to look at what was presumably chasing them. She then shouted to Adam "Look out!", before the video cuts to black, and a binary code flashes up.

The binary code, "01000101 01000100 01000101 01001110," translates to "EDEN." Another point of interest is that there are 20 zeros and 12 ones, a reference to the supposed doomsday year of 2012. All of the Assassins Creed games play out during 2012.

The Miracle
I am with you until the end. Find me in the darkness.

Along with the video clips hidden behind the Glyphs, small strings of numbers were included at the end of each. Upon Desmond reliving Ezio Auditore's later memories, Shaun discovered the numbers to correspond to further coordinates in Rome; where ten Rifts were hidden.

These rifts could only be seen with Eagle Vision, and needed to be climbed into, rather than simply being found and scanned. Behind each was one of ten Cluster puzzles that, when completed, unlocked a small video clip that displayed a series of seemingly corrupted data with unintelligible words on the top left corner.

Immediately after solving the final cluster, a short video was unlocked that stated "The miracle is in the execution" while the ultrasound of an unborn child was shown. At this point, Rebecca Crane noted that (unlike the Truth video) the Cluster puzzles actually concealed an executable file.

Upon accessing the file, Desmond was then uploaded to an unknown area within the Animus, where he was free to run through a somewhat long virtual maze similar to those within the Animus Virtual Training Program. At the end of the maze, Desmond found a hologram (partially broken and made of computing code) of Subject 16, who told Desmond that all hope was lost, and that he must go to Eden to find a woman named Eve.

Before leaving, Sixteen instructed Desmond to find him in the darkness. The program ended with the ground collapsing from under Desmond's feet, and a loading screen showing Desmond in free fall.

Trivia
*The mountain in the Truth bears a striking resemblance to Mount Kilimanjaro, thus placing the scene in Africa. This would make sense, as humanity is said to originate from Africa (specifically mid-Africa, the rough location of Kilimanjaro).
**The Codex map also shows that a Piece of Eden was located in the vicinity of Kilimanjaro.
**Lucy Stillman mentions that Dr. Warren Vidic tags several memories in ancient Africa.
*The Truth video seems to take place immediately before the human rebellion and subsequent war. As Adam and Eve seem to have taken the Apple without permission, and are probably trying to escape with it, one can assume that they had started the rebellion.
*It is clear that Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad has seen this video too in some shape or form, since, in the Codex, he mentions the buildings and mountain that are in the video. In the pages, he is clearly horrified by what he has seen.
*The viewing angle of the camera suggests that the video is a recording of one of Subject 16's Animus sessions. This in turn would indicate a direct lineage of Sixteen with Adam and/or Eve.
*The silhouette figure holding the Apple in The Truth appears to be female. The flowing cloth coming from various parts of her body indicates that this is Minerva (who appears later in the same game), rather than Juno.
*The music being played during Adam and Eve's escape is the same music that plays while Desmond and Lucy are escaping Abstergo at the beginning of Assassin's Creed II, and when Ezio is running away from the guards after the Auditore execution.
**It is also the "Open Conflict" song of Forlì, and it is entitled "Wetlands Escape" on the Assassin's Creed II Original Game Soundtrack.
*In the PS3 version, Eve does not say "Look out!" At that point, it is silent and the binary for "Eden" appears.
*On a wall in the Miracle's obstacle course, the climbing cubes form the Assassin insignia.
*In the Miracle Video, Subject 16 tells Desmond to search for him in the darkness, which is accurate, as in Revelations he appears on Animus Island, also known as the Black Room.
*The DLC pack The Lost Archive, which follows the story of Subject 16, contains a mission titled "The Truth".

The Assassin's Creed Comic is a webcomic created by Penny Arcade, which focuses on video games and video gaming culture. The comic is drawn in a cartoon-like style, focusing on a mission of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in Acre. While the comic is drawn from Altaïr's point of view, it also features dialogue from Al Mualim, who does not appear in the narrative.

Plot
Altaïr was ordered by Al Mualim to hunt down and assassinate a man in Acre. Once he arrived, he blended into the crowd, following a strongly-built man with a green cloak. Altaïr swung from ledge to ledge, and onto the rooftops in an effort to keep a closer eye on his target. However, his target soon noticed Altaïr's presence. The man kept his guard up, and proceeded to buy oranges, while Altaïr continued to wait on a rooftop for the right time to attack his target. Suddenly, the man startled Altaïr by appearing behind him on the rooftop. He then tried to insult Altaïr by referring to him as "one of Al Mualim's pups." They engaged in battle, but fast as Altaïr was, the man held his ground and managed to dodge any attack the Assassin made with his multiple weapons.

Whilst fighting, the man warned Altaïr about Al Mualim's intentions, claiming he would slowly take away Altaïr's freedom, and eventually kill him. Altaïr then found himself in the midst of a headlock, but soon caught an opening in the man's position, and elbowed his face. Altaïr backed away while the man recovered, and proceeded to perform an air assassination with his Hidden Blade. However, before he could do so, the man countered his move and punched Altaïr back onto the ground. The man tackled Altaïr, and they were both soon on the ground. The man told Altaïr that Al Mualim did not care for his Assassins, tormenting him by telling him that his master, Al Mualim, could always father more, for the man thought that he could see Al Mualim's face in Altaïr's. Altaïr, angered and confused, made his final strike by headbutting the man and impaling his stomach with the Hidden Blade. The story ends as Altaïr slides his hand over the dead man's face, closing his eyes. Al Mualim later asked if Altaïr's target had said something unusual, but Altaïr simply responded that he had said "nothing of consequence".
Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy is a Facebook game that was first made available on 30 September 2010 with the "Italian Wars" memory set.

Players are recruits for Abstergo Industries who relive the genetic memories of other individuals, most of them Assassins, through a machine known as the DDS (Data Dump Scanner). Presumably, the DDS is similar to an Animus, but can allow a person to relive the memory of someone who is not their ancestor.

Currently, there are three memory sets available: "Italian Wars", "Rome" (released 15 November 2010) and "Holidays" (released 22 December 2010). The fourth memory set, Divine Science (released 4 July 2011) was made available outside of the DDS by Erudito - the DDS interface still says the pack is "coming soon".

An Abstergo dossier states that Project Legacy is currently on hold due to security concerns.
: Summary: Italian Wars Event Chart

Chapter 1 - Bartolomeo d'Alviano
Chapter 1 - Bartolomeo d'Alviano
Welcome to the DDS Program. Please remain still while we synchronize your first assignment.

In 1509 CE, the Battle of Agnadello dealt a devastating blow to the Venetian army. You will relive this battle through the eyes and mind of one of its captains, Bartolomeo d'Alviano. Please report any anomalies you encounter.

Chapter 2 - Francesco Vecellio
Chapter 2 - Francesco Vecellio
You may feel mild discomfort during synchronization. This is normal. It is important to maintain your concentration.

History places Niccolò di Pitigliano's death in Lonigo, Italy in the year 1510 CE. Our data supports this fact. But the circumstances of his death require further investigation. Please take notes and report your findings.

Chapter 3 - Mario Auditore
Chapter 3 - Mario Auditore
We are now synchronizing the DDS. For your safety, please report any nosebleeds, vertigo, nausea, or hallucinations.

Land-hungry Florence sought possession of the walled city of Monteriggioni, but it held strong for years under the guidance of the Auditore family. You will dissect the memories of Mario Auditore, who struggled to keep his city safe through the latter half of the 15th century.

Chapter 4 - Perotto Calderon
Chapter 4 - Perotto Calderon
While we prepare to synchronize, please listen to the following questions. Be sure to report any difficulties you have answering. What is your name? Where do you live? What year is it?

We have a unique window into the lives and secrets of the infamous Borgia family. The DDS has recovered the memories of one of their trusted couriers, Perotto Calderon. Your task is to find out exactly what he discovered.

Rome
Chapter 1 - Fiora Cavazza
Chapter 1 - Fiora Cavazza
Please wait a moment while we synchronize the DDS. You may find yourself daydreaming more often and sleeping less. This is a normal side effect of the program.

Many of Rome's biggest names spent their leisure time indulging in its many brothels. They were ideal information hubs for those eager to scale the social ladder. Fiora Cavazza was one such courtesan. Investigate her contacts; find out who she knew, and what she did with that knowledge.

Chapter 2 - Giovanni Borgia
Chapter 2 - Giovanni Borgia
The DDS is going to try to synchronize you with the memories of a child. This may be confusing for you at first, as you will lose your ability to convey complex thought, but your mind should quickly adapt.

The truth behind the real parents of Giovanni Borgia, the "Child of Rome," has long baffled historians. But even more perplexing is Giovanni's insignificant life that followed. How does one stand right in the center of the hurricane and remain untouched? Your task is to learn what history has hidden from us.

Chapter 3 - Francesco Vecellio
Chapter 3 - Francesco Vecellio
Now synching the DDS system. We're going to take a moment to test your emotional range. Please focus on a fond memory. Good. Now focus on a painful memory. Perfect.

Just prior to the death of Pope Alexander VI, Cesare Borgia began to lose his grip on Rome. Though you won't find any mention of it in the history books, we suspect a powerful underground movement worked to overthrow the corrupt dynasty. See what you can learn.

Chapter 4 - Giovanni Borgia
Preparing to synchronize. Note that we are experiencing a small system glitch that may cause a subtle ringing in your ears. It should pass as you enter the memory.

The new world was plundered in the 15th Century. Explorers became conquerors. La Noche Triste, or the Night of Sorrows, was a bloody uprising between the Aztecs and the Spanish conquistadors. Hernán Cortés himself was driven from Tenochtitlan. Firsthand reports of the massacre present opposing perspectives. Find the truth.

Holidays
Unlike other memory sets, the memories within a "Holidays" chapter feature different protagonists, though all are centered around events during a single day across history (i.e., Christmas Day).
Divine Science
This pack was released outside of the Project Legacy <span style="font-style: normal; ">DDS by </span>Erudito<span style="font-style: normal; "> as part of Abstergo's Secure Files .</span>
Chapter 1 - Maria Amiel
Chapter 1 - Maria Amiel
Please wait while we synchronize the DDS. Close your eyes and try to relax. Inhale deeply, exhale. Inhale, again exhale. That's it.

The Renaissance. As early as 14th Century, Italian scholars began to re-examine ancient classical lore, triggering revitalization of knowledge throughout out Europe. You will explore the memories on one of the Paracelsus's assistants, Maria Amiel. Please report your findings.

Chapter 2 - Kyros of Zarax
Chapter 2 - Kyros of Zarax
The DDS is attempting to synchronize millennia old memories. Because the memories you'll explore are ancient, you may feel disoriented, even confused. You may also find it hard to discern reality from fiction. This is normal, please remain calm.

Following the events we unlocked in the last sequence, you will now explore the origins of the Hermeticists tradition. You will follow the exploits of the Pythagoras of Samos, the Greek mathematician and scholar. You are one of his protégés, Kyros of Zarax.

Chapter 3 - Elizabeth Jane Weston
Chapter 3 - Elizabeth Jane Weston
We're attempting to synchronize the DDS system. This will only take a moment. We are almost there. The DDS is now in sync. Thank you for your patience. We hope you'll enjoy your experience.

Rudolf II invited many notable figures to his court, making Prague the center of European culture. Among them were Englishmen Edward Kelley and his step-daughter Elizabeth Jane Weston. Observe her and report any alleged collusion.

Chapter 4 - Frater V.O.V.
Chapter 4 - Frater V.O.V.
The DDS will synchronize with the memories of an aged man. You may feel you have less energy, poor hearing and eye sight and even experience wobbly legs. This is normal, if you feel pain in your left arm however, please stop and consult your physician.

The Victorian era is characterized by growth, prosperity, political reform and major technological and scientific progress. Interest in the occult also increased during this period. You are about to infiltrate the Hermetic order of the golden dawn.
After linking Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood with a Uplay account, you will be able train your Assassin recruits from within Project Legacy. Doing so will also unlock certain events within Project Legacy itself.

Finding and combining the "Auditore Trail" Mnemonic Set will unlock Brotherhood content, and buying certain landmarks within both Project Legacy and Brotherhood (such as the Colosseo) will net you florins in both games.
Uplay
As of 8 December 2010, Uplay actions and rewards became available for Project Legacy.

The Uplay connectivity of Project Legacy would presumably allow players to avail of more of the Uplay rewards in Brotherhood, as Brotherhood has a greater number of rewards than it has in-game Units to be earned. However, there are an equal amount of points for rewards and actions for Project Legacy; though the points can still be spent on rewards in Brotherhood instead, if one so chooses.
Update
As of June 2011, Ubisoft has stated that the Divine Science memory set and the DDS 2.0 will be released in the forthcoming weeks. It was suspected this would be released alongside Assassin's Creed: Revelations as the Rome set was alongside Brotherhood. However, as of April 2012, it still has not been released. The improvements of the new system are:
* No longer needing to click through 500+ SP when reassigning.
* Crafting now allows for multiple concurrent crafts of the same item.
* Achievements should now unlock instantly.
* "Collect All" now collects income from all cross-Pack Buildings.
* Functional cross pack Go To Navigation.
* Inclusion of a Mastery Level System.

In the Assassin's Creed Encyclopedia, it states that "Due to security concerns, Project Legacy has been put on hold."

This may explain why the holiday pack did not come out in 2011.

Anson Peake : Manager of Project Legacy apparently went missing and that is the reason behind Project Legacy's stop.

Trivia
* A still from Project Legacy can be seen on one of Lucy Stillman's computer screens in the Sanctuary during Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
* Almost all multiplayer characters from Brotherhood feature in Project Legacy memories.
