Revamp spoilerhd

The first war was a fictional war between early Humans and Those Who Came Before. Much is unknown about the war, but it led to the First Civilization not seeing the signs of a pending apocalypse which led to the destruction of almost all of both races and much of the earth.

Causes
Seen in the truth video, Humans were being used as a work force (slaves) by the first civilization. They used the Pieces of Eden to bend the will of man and make them work, but the Half-breed Humans seemed to have developed an immunity towards the Pieces of Edens' effects, allowing two early Humans called "Adam and Eve" to escape Eden (or the Garden of Eden as named in the Bible) and bring with them a stolen Piece of Eden, one of the Apples (there are numerous Apples of Eden). This most likely caused the war and also inspired the story of the Garden of Eden, with the first civilization being the creator, or "God", who threw them out. Templars use the other story as a cover up to control humanity.

The War
Soon many humans were set free and rebelled against the ones who came before. Minerva says "We were great, but you were many."It seems that those who came before had better technology but the humans were many and built to survive in any conditions. This survival instinct may have been later known as evolution.

The war was cut short as the massive solar flare from our sun hit the Earth. Another quote of Minerva is "We were so busy dealing with the war on the grounds, we didn't notice the warnings from the heavens before it was to late." (needs verification)

Aftermath
Since the First Civilization, the only people who could save the earth, did not see the signs of the pending apocalypse, the earth and most of its inhabitants were burnt. The First Civilization lost most of themselves which resulted in the humans winning.

The blast could have caused the last great ice age which triggered mans fast evolution. In Assassin's Creed II it is revealed the sun may release another solar blast just like the first one, only now that the Earths magnetic field has weakened, the Earth may be destroyed in the process. The science of all this is as follows: the Earth's magnetic field keeps us from spinning into the sun. A solar flare of large of a large enough caliber could, possibly, destroy the magnetic field and cause us to A. literally spin head over heels and B. into the sun.

Trivia
*All that is known about The First War comes from the information that Minerva gives Ezio and Desmond at the end of Assassins Creed II.

Eagle Vision is an ability that Ezio, Altaïr, Desmond Miles and presumably others of Assassin lineage possess. The user is able to instinctively sense how people and objects relate to him, which manifests as a colored glowing.

Assassin's Creed
To use Eagle Vision, the player must press the Head button. Depending on control settings, the Head button will most likely be either (for Playstation 3), Y (for Xbox 360), or E (for PC default layout). In addition, the Synchronization bar must be at its current maximum capacity, otherwise pressing the Head button will instead result in a first-person view with no extra benefits.

At the end of Assassin's Creed, Desmond gains the ability to use Eagle Vision outside of the Animus. He sees Lucy glowing blue and Warren Vidic glowing red. Using Eagle Vision will also reveal Cryptic Messages Subject 16 wrote with his own blood in the Abstergo Laboratory.

Eagle Vision Coloring
*Red = Enemies
*Blue = Allies
*White = Sources of information/hiding places
*Gold = Targets

Assassin's Creed II
Ezio, like Altair, was able to use Eagle Vision. It is used to detect and scan Glyphs from Desmond's perspective.
In a glyph narration from Subject 16, he says, "Behold the Assassins, the children of two worlds! Why do we have these gifts? Because it's in our blood!" This implies that because Altaïr, Ezio, Desmond and Subject 16 all have Eagle Vision, their bloodline is connected to Those Who Came Before. This theory can be supported by the fact that both Subject 16's blood and light patterns in The Vault glow when seeing with Eagle vision.

It is possible that Desmond and Subject 16 are brothers according to some conspiracy theorists.

Trivia
*An Assassin guard in the Kingdom can be seen as glowing red, but reacts as all other guards do. This guard was originally supposed to have aided Masun in betraying the Brotherhood, but the sequence where Altaïr assassinates him was cut from the final game, leaving him as a minor easter-egg.
*A mini-game in the Assassin's Creed room of Playstation Home features an Eagle Vision puzzle, which when completed opens up the Hideout.
*In the original Assassin's Creed game, movement was prohibited while using Eagle Vision, and the player was required to be at maximum syncronization.
